Pong is the definition of a classic game. I remember playing long hours of pong in my basement back home against my brother, always pleading for "just one more game!" whenever I would lose a match. Well, to my surprise and delight, Pong has come here to Battlereports.com.
Having let that sink in, yes, it's true. That magical web wizard, Johnny_Vegas, has done it again, replacing the dull chat that formerly took up space here at the site.
Having nothing better to do on this bed-ridden day of sinus infections and headaches, I decided to play a few games and test it out.
I log on as "Cracky", smurfing a bit to keep the women away and immediately see Johnny and Admiral_(somethingthatiforgotandamterriblysorryabout) waiting in the chat room. After attempting to join a game Admiral created, I had to switch over to a Netscape (shudder) browser to get it to work. On to game one.

We began the match with standard build orders, ordering our waiting paddles to strategic start positions in the center of the screen. The first few minutes I used to grow acustomed to the basic skills needed to dominate the ever-growing pong ladder competition. I learned quickly however, and soon could do advanced attack and defend manuvers. The edge Admiral had gained early on was quickly lost and I was on my way to my first Pong victory. I had tasted blood and was hungry for more. After about 10 minutes of playing (correct me if I am wrong), there was a freak accident and all of a sudden I was in the chat room once again and Admiral was playing with someone else. Hrm. Well, I _had_ been winning at the time, so I claimed it as a win.

Back in the chat room, I was joined by the infamous Drefsab, no doubt as bored as I was when he made that fateful decision to test out Pong. On to game two.

The game began with few mistakes on either side and the competition was fast and furious. Both of us were microing our troop very carefully and neither one of us could gain an edge. After a while, however, I mastered the advanced tactic of holding an arrow key towards him, thus "charging" my shot. That new skill, combined with his disinterest in the game and distractions at work swayed the battle in my favor. The most intense action came in the later parts of the game, however. The score was Cracky:9, Drefsab: 6 in a game to 10. He had won over 3 points in a row and his considerable momentum threatened my substancial lead. My experience gleaned from the first game led me to another win and we parted our ways with a friendly "gg".

I licked my lips with satisfaction back in the chat room. My rise to power in the Pong ladder had gone unchallenged, and I knew none could stand in my way now.

Well, thats all folks. I have a few things to say before you can get rid of me. First of all, yes, I do maphack. Dref showed me this super cool cheat in Pong that lets be see _both_ halves of the map. I attribute my winnings to that and that alone. Second (and third, kinda), Pong is more than a game of moving a paddle up and down. If you hold the arrow key facing your opponent, your paddle will turn orange so long as it is not moved. When the ball hits it, it will speed up considerably. Holding the arrow key away from your opponent will turn the paddle blue and i _think_ it slows the ball down. I hope to see all of you on the Pong Ladder soon. Wine, women and song for all involved.

Now, this is for Johnny : Lessons learned
1)- a Pause button would kick ass
2)- starting the ball off at a higher speed would really make the early game parts of my report more interesting
3)- you are a sexy sexy love machine and I want to be like you. ;^)
