Acts of Aggression

General Harper had little sleep during the night and the small army under his command was egar to see what this new general could do. Many did not trust him and felt that a Dominion general was the last man they need to lead them. Harper could feel the looks of hate that flew from every set of eyes as he walked to the bridge. He had seen many conflicts and had faced his share of madmen and aliens. But for now he was nervous and even a little scared. He would be facing men that he once commanded and he was not sure if he could raise arms against them.

"General. We have the installation in visual range."

"Bring it up on screen."

Before Harper sat the desolate and minimally staffed Corfect Installation. It was a small supply distributor station that had seen more glorious days. It had minimal guards and a small, outdated automated defense system. It was an easy target to say the least. The nearest reinforcements were on a small base on another planet. It would take them hours to respond even after the first shots were fired.

"I want all commanders to meet me in the war room. We will commence the attack at first light."

Harper was set to meet with his officers for the first time and he was nervous as Hell. But as he contemplated what strategy he would take, Emperor Mengsk was busy with plans of his own.

The Emperors throne room was a glorious sight. It overlooked his capital city and viewed the dusty cliffs of what once was Korhal. The barren wasteland he once called home had seen more than its share of conflict and rebuilding the Dominion was of the utmost importance. Mengsk had many enemies and he would deal with them as they presented themselves. Kerrigan sat on one hand and the departed General Harper on another. To Mengsk, Harper was just as dangerous as Kerrigan. Harper had seen how the Dominion was run and he knew Dominion protocol. He was the commander of the police fleet and he knew every weakness the Dominion had. This new general was a mystery to Mengsk, but he would have to do. Mengsk was not comfortable with a loose cannon at the helm of his most prized fleet, but he would keep a close hold on Stevens. If he stepped out of line, he would be removed from command in more ways then one.

"Major Dell, are you receiving this transmission?"

"Loud and clear emperor. I am on Steven's flagship. He does not suspect anything."

"Good. Listen very carefully, I want you to watch his every move. I don't want him to leave your sight, is that clear."

"Of course emperor. I have his room under surveillance and all communication equipment has been bugged. No transmissions in or out, without my knowledge."

"Just remember, he is not to know that you are watching him. If he does anything strange I want a report, is that clear?"

"As crystal my emperor. He will have no clue whatsoever. I swear it."

"I'm counting on you major, do not disappoint me."

Mengsk believed that he had control over all his affairs. He had spies watching all of his enemies and he thought he had firm and undisturbed control. But the old saying of spiders spinning their webs is true. For while Mengsk had his spies for the Dominion, Stevens had a bug of his own.

"My queen, I have urgent news."

"What is it now!"

"Forgive me my queen, but I have urgent news. Mengsk has sent a spy to investigate me. He will kill me if I change any plans for the fleet."

"That fool Mengsk probably has tapped all the communication lines. He forgot I am telepathically linked to all the zerg. I want you to continue as planned, I expect that the zerg larva you dropped in Mengsk's throne room is sending you every transmission he makes."

"Yes my queen, the larva sent me the news of the spy. But why do you not use the larva and mutate it into a hydralisks and kill Mengsk where he sits?"

"It would take time to hatch and Mengsk would have his guards kill it before it had a chance to do any damage. At least as a larva I can listen to what Mengsk is planning. A good plan, but not applicable. I'm glad to see your thinking."

"Thank you my queen. What shall I do with the spy?"

"I'm sure you will think of something Ahc. Just make sure he is out of my plans. Once he is eliminated, you can begin with the operation."

"Yes my queen. I live to serve you."

The meeting room aboard the ship was cramped and dirty. Commanding a transport is much different then commanding a cruiser. The platoon leaders sat and drank beer. Not the best squad of commanders but Harper had little choice. He knew trhat every man in the room hated him and he had trouble trusting the men at the table with him. Still, they were in this together and they could worked together or die together.

"The installation we are about to hit is lightly guarded and has little to no heavy weaponry to protect it. Inside are enough rations, ammo and fuel to last us a year. When have a total of four hours to break in, grab what we can and get out. After four hours a fleet that outnumbers our combat ready ships twenty to one will intercept us. We will begin by destroying the power generators located on the far side of installation. Without power, the anti air and automated defenses will be useless. We then take all we can haul out of here and then head for home. Commander Cyrus, your team will be part of the transport guards. If an enemy soldier comes near our transports I want your men to hand him his balls and send him on home. Commander Gerald, your men will take the generator down. Commander Ericson and Commander Louis will be your backup."

"And where will you be general, sir?"

"Myself and a small platoon will infiltrate the weapons shop and commandeer the heavy artillery. Now if you're all done judging my leadership, we shall commence the attack?"

The commanders grumbled as they left and knew that the plan was sound. he even had the guts to lead a platoon into a fairly heavily defended section of the installation. He was still a dominion general but he was beginning to prove himself. Maybe if he survived the attack they would raise a beer in his name.

The attack commenced and each commander deployed his troops. Harper was right and little to no resistance was offered. The power generators fell and the automated defenses all came to a halt. The dropships moved in and supplies were quickly loaded. Harper lead his troops into the weapons shop and were confronted by marines and a few Goliath's. Harper expected these kind of troops and had brought a corps of medics to accompany his troops. The medics quickly tended to any wounded and the advantage was apparent on the battlefield. The marines began to succumb to their wounds and the Goliath's armor dented and groaned under the pressure of the rifles. Bullets tore through the plates and ignited fuel lines. The giant walkers burst into flames and the victors reaped the spoils of war. In three hours the men had taken all the food, fuel and ammo they could carry. Goliath's, siege tanks and vulture bikes were crammed into as many dropships as possible. It had been a good day for Harper and a great day for the men. A huge celebration commenced and Harper was finally accepted among the soldiers.

"I have passed a great test today. I have earned their respect, if not their trust. This will be only the beginning and soon I will have the army I need. Mengsk will hear about this soon and he will come after me. I don't think I can raise arms against my own fleet. They will be sent after me with a new commander and they will hunt me down, like I hunted so many rebel factions. It's only a matter of time now. Only a matter of time."

Harper would suffer another restless night, but as news of the installation attack reached Mengsk, Ahc was removing a problem of his own. Major Dell walked slowly down the corridor. He was summoned by the general and he was not happy. He was paranoid and he was unsure about Stevens motives. The major walked into the rations bay and saw Stevens reviewing a records sheet.

"You called for me sir?"

"Yes major, I was reviewing the logs and noticed a slight imbalance in the records. Apparently we are missing supplies."

"Missing sir?"

"Yes look here. According to this we should have rations to last six months and we have half that number in this bay. We are missing half of our allotted rations."

"Could it have been an error at the dock."

"I thought that too but it says here we left with all of our rations. I believe someone is stealing our food."

"Stealing! That is very serious. We have to investigate."

"That is just what I was thinking. I want you to get a security team and find out what has happened to our food."

"Yes sir, I'll get right on it."

"Good, take these logs and go over them. Compare with the rations in the bay and see if my suspicions are correct."

"Yes sir."

"Are you okay major?"

"Yes sir why would you ask?"

"Well, you seemed to be sweating."

"Sweating sir?"

"Yes. I also noticed you're a little jumpy. Are you scared of me major?"

"No sir. Why would I be scared."

"Maybe I'm just being silly. Like I would just pick up a barrel and beat you to death. I just laugh at the very notion of it."

"Very amusing sir."

"Really major, you should relax."

"Yes sir."

"Well enough about that, just give me a full report when your done."

"Will do sir."

Stevens left the room and the doors closed behind him. Major dell let out a loud sigh and laughed nervously. He looked over the records and began to compare the information. Suddenly the bay doors unlocked and the major was pulled into the blackness of space. The vacuum tore the body to pieces splitting Dell's head like a melon. The doors closed and the locks were engaged once again. Ahc removed his finger from the door controls and walked to security to alter some tapes.

"Just be glad major, that I didn't use a barrel."
