But this time we have a twist, cause I'm not the only one from Nohunters on our team today!
The esteemed Wax Angel, gay lover to MasturNate and grand pumba of microwars, hailing in from South Korea has joined NoHunters Lance! He straps himself into his MadCat, and after getting on the wrong team a couple times, he's ready to go to war w/ Slings! (I died 50 times in a 3 v 1 thx to his chobo joining skills ^o^ but it was his comp, which he says is now fixed!)
I dunno what was on his MadCat, but we can assume it was fast, and that 3 good hits to its gyro with double gauss fire makes it go boom unless he added armor. I think he scrapped his jump jets though, since I never saw him use them. (I could be wrong though, he was all over the map)
I picked and customized my own Daishi, loading up with 4 medium pulse lasers, double gauss rifles on my arms, and maybe something else ballistic. I left my heat efficieny only at half power and upped my armor in certain key points (I had noticed a lot of tiny mechs on the other team and had nightmares of Wax's fast mech leaving me in a swarm of little speedies circling and shooting out my legs. In hindsight I shoulda just add speed)
Ok, the Map is: Palace Gates
It's basically a long strip of land, one team starts in the foothills, the other starts in a castle. Both starting locations are about equal, but for some reason people usually feel like they have to assault the castle rather than vice verse (the only real objective is to kill the enemy and save your team mates so your score is better, but people try to take the home bases anyways because the missile fire from them can be crippling and the sniper mechs often die easy because they're light on armor and shortrange weapons and they are looking through their zoom lense and so don't see u until u take a few leg shots.)
ok, let's see if I can make the map.

Ok, you like my ascii map? I missed a lot of the buildings/foothills on the far flanks, this is more a map of the center, but I didn't spend enough time of the flanks to get an idea of the terrain (Flanks were full of little mechs who liked to run in and snipe from semiclose range in the foothills)
Ok, so we've got 2 teams of around 8 (it slides back and fourth and at some points we fighting 4 vs 8 and then 9 vs 5, but what do you want in a public game, right?)
Around 5 of our mechs move out, I think my Daishi is the only heavy at this time. We are at the bottom, moving along our valley because it's faster than scaling mountains. We move out onto the plain, I pop up my scope to see if they are lining up near their high walls, or what. I don't see anything. Good, I was worried about heaving sniping while we crossed the plain. If there had been enough missiles we would've had to try to split our firepower and go from three sides or go get sniping mechs of our own or faster mechs to solve the problem.
Wax quickly wanders off, but that's ok, I mean I'm with 5 other mechs, a veritable porcupine of fire, yes? That's when I turned my scope back on, and saw missile launchers poking up over the walls. I don't know if the guy had a jump jet or if his launchers were just very high up, but they cleared the wall, which meant he could hit us, and we couldn't hit anything but his launchers. He launched his payload at us, and we scattered a bit, I, being so fat and slow with armor and weapons, couldn't even outrun the Long Range Missiles (LRMs) and so I took the hits, then BEEP BEEP BEEP (a warning of more missiles)
wow, they had two missile boats dropping junk on our head.... and we're in the middle of a big plain. I pop up my scope, center my gauss on one of the two launchers that the first attacker had popping up, and shot, It blew up with one hit, but he still had a second launcher. While my Gauss recharged I aimed for the second, and I was ready to fire, squeezing the trigger button, when BAMFgdlkghgnoigyh
I got nailed with Gauss and PPC fire from the castle entrance. This hit (which I never saw coming thanks to my scope narrowing in on the launcher) knocked my own shot off wasting my gauss ammo. Then the missiles launched again. Now I think we were taking LRM and MRM fire (medium range missiles) because... well, those missiles came in salvoes of like twenty. Still moving, I unleashed all my weapons on the mech in the entrance, as did two of my team mates. I think we all got torso shots, not a good way to kill, but it sure fries weaponry. The mech, a 100 tonner like myself but of the Atlas Class which has far heavier armor, didn't decide he needed to move ( his frontal armor is the strongest in the game)
Somewhere along the line we lost a madcat (not wax) to missile fire, so four of us pelted Mr.Atlas dumb mofo who doesn't think he needs to move his mech. He loses both arms to our bad aim, and topples over, but he's not out, whether he can do anything but ram now is questionable, but a ramming atlas is nothing to sneeze at. I walk past him, being the heavy, It's my job to go in first. Ouch. Laser fire stitches me from the left, a PPC and something else hits me from the right. That's fine, my front is toasted now anyways, I turn right, presenting my side where I still have some armor, and starting laying into the missile mech that had been hitting us. It dies to two of my full barrages with intermitent laser fire from me between the big guns on its gyro. I also drew enough fire to let the other mechs with me get in the entrance and engage, the atlas was back up and firing an autocannon apparently left in its chest while ramming and pushing the medium mechs around, the two mechs that hit me on my entrance were laying down the fire heavy, I came to bear on the right side one, I had lost my left arm to him, so he took one gauss shell and some laser fire before he remembered to keep moving. Me looked like a 90 ton MadCat Mark2, but was curiously fragile, probably stripped armor for weapons. Anways, he lost an arm to my alpha strike, then he ran a bit, threw his mech in reverse, did a full 180 spin turn, and fired at me. Nice move, he avoided like 3 shots at him from various directions nad put my left leg deep in the red.
Then. he exploded. huh?! ya, he presented his back to the entrance to the castle, and coming in was some more mechs from our side. Back armor is weak, and there was two of them, so BAM! It's a good thing the cavalry arrived, because of our original 5 mechs, it was just me and an Awesome (a 60 tonner I think, it seemed to have all lasers and a Short Range Missile (SRM) launcher.) That speedy little awesome was untouched I bet, he certainly still had all his weapons running as he beat the hell outta the remaining missile mech. The Atlas finally blew up, right after he rammed me, damaging my leg so I couldn't go in reverse or walk about like 30 kph. Unfortunately, we were near their start location, so all that stuff we just killed, showed up all over again. I died to missile fire from above without even returning fire.
The match went back and forth like that for quite some time. After a while we were down a few players, and they had all missile mechs and 4 Atlases running around in our foothills, we just held them off due to the proximity of our respawning site and the highground advantage we held. As the game ended we were down about ten kills :o but it was a gg. ^o^ I finished it a bit fast, but that's all I remember besides frantically wishing I had a faster mech! ;o)
