Hi there folks and welcome to a rare BR by yours truly. I am in between fic ideas and decided to release a little none replay to the report lists. This is a clash at the lost temple between Ironic and Blar_the_Zerg. It was originally scheduled to be a team melee affair but due to the fact it was just the three of us, they elected to battle it out by themselves. Blar_the_Zerg chose the awesome combo of Terran and Toss, with Ironic choosing Toss and Zerg to grace the field. Personally, I felt it was ironic that Blar_the_Zerg didn't go for Zerg, but hey that's just me. The countdown began and here we go.
The Lost Temple would have its hands full as both players fixed to get nasty with their meshed forces. Blar_the_Zerg warped a nexus at three and Ironic warped his nexus at nine. I, with my double terran, lifted my CC off as my scv's turn on each other in a bloody frenzy. The horror, the horror! Mining and scouting began for both players and each started with a pylon and double gate build. Both scouting probes found their respective targets and did a quick snoop job, then got the hell out of dodge. Blar_the_Zerg was content to mass a sizable force of zealots at his choke with six son's of Aiur standing guard. Ironic opted to morph a hatchery at his nat with only two zealots to watch his back. Blar_the_Zerg Warped in a cy. Core and called upon four goons to join his zealots. It was at this point, Blar_the_Zerg began a CC for his lonely terran units.
At this point in the game, Blar_the_Zerg has a tremendous lead in units with an army of ten zealots and five goons. However, Ironic has powered and his expo is up and running. Ironic also has three sunkens at his nat with four zealots and a pair of zerglings. Just as Ironic finishes a hydralisk den, Blar_the_Zerg has his CC on the ground in his nat. With a barracks under way and his expo secure, Blar_the_Zerg sends a forces of seven zealots, five goons and two probes to Ironic's main.
The marching army storms the gully and is met by four sunkens, four zealots, eight lings and three hydralisks. The lings and zealots each target the goons as hydralisks and sunkens take free shots at the zealots and probes as they stumble through the confused goon troopers. The ling/zealot combo easily tears down the goon warriors and the invading zealots manage to take only three lings to the grave with them. With their enemies decimated, the zealot/ling forces march towards Blar_the_Zerg and his natural. When they arrive, five marines and four dragoons greet them. They head right for the vulnerable terran troops and gut each soldier where he stands. However, the dragoons are able to shoot down all the zerglings and reek considerable damage on the zealots before they turn to meet the entombed warriors. In a mist and moan, the zealots are sent packing and each commander is content to lick his wounds and plan for the next strike.
Teching and expanding is the order of the day, with Blar_the_Zerg massing tanks and dropships and gaining the stealthy DT's and calling the power of a few Dark Archon's. Ironic elects to tech to lurkers and reavers, with mass, mass hydralisks to support his ground troops. Blar_the_Zerg prepares for the turbo newbie and loads two tanks, four marines, two goons and two scv's in three shuttles. They fly to the three natural cliff and unload their cargo next to the clueless expo. The tanks siege and do what they do best…kicking as and taking names. The lair and two hatcheries in the gully begin to soak up damage as the scv's build a turret and bunker respectively. The terran guns reek havoc on the lair below and bring it into the red. A vicious doom drop of four zealots and eight hydralisks saves the expo. The last laugh however, would go to Blar_the_Zerg as he manages to load and drop his two goons right next to the bleeding lair. Just as the tanks and men go splat, so does the lair. Ironic is not about to let this action go unpunished and sends a massive drop force of hydralisks, lurkers and reavers too destroy Blar_the_Zerg's main. This task proves a bit hard as the key drop sites in Blar_the_Zerg's main have cannon and goon protection. Ironic does not want to lose his troops and elects to drop his army outside of Blar_the_Zerg's natural. The force of two control group's of hydralisks, four reavers with all upgrades, and six lurkers prepare to strike. Two overlords are left for detection and the rest return to Ironic's main for reinforcements. I look to what Blar_the_Zerg has in defense and see that the situation is grim. Most of his forces are DT's, goons and a few tanks and marines. The goons and tanks can to some damage, but sheer number will win the day. As for the DT's, they are great, but when Zerg have detection, they become glorified zealots. The Zerg/Toss force surges into the gully and it would appear all is lost.
That is…do you remember those DA's I mention earlier? Well…funny story, in an act of pure genius, Blar_the_Zerg mind controls the overlords and now the army is at the mercy of the waiting DT's. Fifteen DT's begin to slice and dice the hydralisks and reavers killing all the reavers and half of the hydralisks. Tank fire and goon plasma blast eliminate the lurkers before they can burrow, leaving the battered hydralisks to be gunned down like so many fish in a barrel. Ironic decides to postpone the deliver of the reinforcements and decides to expand and fight another day. Blar_the_Zerg also elects to expand and takes both the six natural and main. Ironic expands to his mineral only and again rebuilds his zerg forces. This time, Ironic believes that air is the way to go and morphs a spire. Blar_the_Zerg also wants a change in pace and plans a corsair/high templar offensive.
There is a slight dip in action as both sides build up their armies. Ironic is poised to strike with two control flocks of mutalisks. This deadly swarm is set to strike at the three natural again, but bumps into a group of six corsairs and four high templar head towards the Lost Temple. The two forces engage with the mutalisks dodging storm after storm as the templar try in vain to land an electric assault. Their efforts prove futile as the Zerg flyers manage to dance around each attempt. The corsairs have a little more success and bring down four of the mutalisks, but they are out numbered and outgunned. The corsairs are sent crashing to the ground and the templar are hunted down one by one. Given their position, Ironic decides to investigate the six main and sure enough, finds the expo. A weak defense of four cannons and three dragoons are all that stand in the way of the mutalisk flocks. The expo crumbles quickly and the victorious swarm investigates the natural to find another expo. The mutalisks descend on the poor expo, but the Calvary arrives in the form of high templar, corsairs and DA's. The DA's use maelstrom and most of the mutalisk are caught in the swirls of energy. Corsair flares dispatch the few free Zerg and a few storms eliminate the trapped flocks. Now it is Blar_the_Zerg's turn to do some hurtin' and corsairs, high templar, DT's and goons are rallied to Ironic's mineral only and natural at nine. The mineral only defenses of lurkers and sunkens/spores are webbed and killed. The two hatcheries are gutted and splattered as the armies pass onward. The natural is a bitter fight with a flock of mutalisks and a control group of hydralisks takes a final stand. Mutalisks target templar and corsairs, sacrificing themselves to kill these hated foes. D-web manages to contain two of the five sunkens, but are blown from the sky by nearby spore colonies. The dragoons fight on and manage to drag the remaining colonies and mutalisks to the ground. A few remaining templar shoot off storms and catch eight hydralisks in three shots. Without protection, the natural is raped and twelve hastily hatched lings must kill the last goons and templar. I click on the geyser in Ironic's natural to find it has been depleted. Ironic needs minerals and gas fast. Attempts to mine from the twelve main and nat fail as each is protected by DT's and corsairs. Ironic builds a small force of hydralisks and lings to try and remove Blar_the_Zerg's forces at the twelve main and nat. These attempts are met with failure as they small force is overwhelmed by DT's and a high templar. Ironic then loads his overlords with drones and probes and heads for the small island to the north. There he finds three corsair's standing guard over the expo site. He orders his ovies to unload the drones and I watch as the drones begin to mine. The ovies stand over the drones as they absorb shots from the corsairs. When the drone are finished, he loads they up and heads back to his main.
"What are you doing I ask?"
"I used to many minerals for the lings, I only have 350."
The long distance mining plan does not last long as a whole fleet of corsairs drops the ovies and their precious cargo. Without minerals and gas, Ironic is forced to concede.
GAME OVER
