Operation: FlashPoint

South of Malden, near coast of Le Port
Mon, Sep 20 17:10

Dallin was rudely awakened when the BlackHawk hit a rough spot of air over the sea, causing him to hit his head on the hard metal door. “Friggin, fraggen, no good piece of…” Was all he mumbled before his pilot blared into his ear. “Drop point is about 5 minutes out! Get ready!” Dallin really wondered if he had slept through the whole hour-long trip and groaned again as the helicopter hit more turbulence.

“Alright men!” He called out. “Check the safety on those gun’s and make sure their ON!” “I don’t really feel like getting shot in the ass as I’m coming out!” The squad of 12 men scrambled together their gear in preparation for the drop. “Now I will again go though our objectives before we land.” “The Russians are trying to send reinforcements to the town of Houdan!” “Our mission is to stop that convoy at all costs!” “It will consist of Three M113 Light tanks, and Two five ton tucks holding up to twenty men each!”

Dallin took a breath but before he could continue the private sitting across from him yelled out “Sir, There’s no way in hell we can do this!” “Shutdap!” Dallin called out before he started again. “Jones, Baker, and me will each have a RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenade) to deal with the M113’s.” “Barlow will be equipped with mines to lay on the road and the rest of you will have standard M16’s!” Dallin noticed that the BlackHawk was beginning it’s decent and would soon land on the long, and lonely beach. Throwing open the door Dallin prepared to jump out as soon as the ‘copter landed.

“TouchDown!” Cried the pilot as the BlackHawk landed with a “thud.” “Alright you pansies! MOVE, MOVE, MOVE and meet at check point Charlie!” When the last man had cleared the helicopter Dallin motioned the pilot to lift-off. “We’re going North to see how far the convoy is, we’ll check back to you in a minute, out.” The BlackHawk did a fast spin and sped towards the suspected area of the convoy. Dallin turned and ran after his squad.

When he had reached check point Charlie he motioned his men to stand around him. “Ok, here’s the plan, me and Barlow will stay below to lay the mines.” Dallin whispered. “The rest of you head to that hill over there marked 142 and stay low! Now go!” As the men moved off Dallin crouched behind some bushes and watched Barlow go to work setting the mines. “Doghouse to poodle over, Doghouse to poodle over!” Squawked Dallin’s radio. “Poodle here, What do you got Doghouse?” “Convoy’s about 2 minutes out! Get ready! We’ll be back at 19:00 to pick you up, out!”

Dallin whispered to Barlow. “You almost done over there?” “Yea, last one…Done!” Barlow then stood up and started creeping towards the hill when a shot rang out, and a bullet had hit Barlow in the chest, he went down without a sound. Dallin cursed and crouched lower. “This is 1 to 2 over, where’d that come from?” Dallin whispered into his radio. “Hold on 1, we got a bead on the SOB.” Replied Baker. Soon another shot was heard followed by silence. “Ok 1, we got him, make your way over here we’ll cover you.”

When Dallin finally reached the top of the hill he was dying for air but in war, you can wait for it. “Convoy’s approaching, Sir.” Said Baker. “What’s the plan?” “Ugh, use your brain you idiot.” Dallin thought to himself. “We’re gonna wait till the first M113 hits the mines. Jones, you target the second tank while Baker you get the last one, I will target the rear five ton.” “The rest of you target the lead five ton and hit it with all the ammo you got, don’t let the men in there get out!” Dallin got the affirmatives from his men and stood up on one knee, drawing his RPG. Baker and Jones did like-wise.

Dallin soon got a lead on his target and waited. “The tank should be hitting the mines soon.” He thought. He waited some more. “What the hell?” He asked himself and glanced at the tank, only to find its turret pointing right at him. “Oh Shit! Fire!” Dallin called out hoping to get the first blood before they were all blown away. The rockets found their marks and three burning piles of wreckage were all that was left of two of the tanks and the truck. The return fire caused more damage then that.

The lone surviving M113 fired its machine gun, blowing Baker and Jones into pieces, the bullets cause one of the grenades on Jones to go off, sending 3 men over the near-by cliff. The tank then focused fire on Dallin and succeeded in hitting him in the leg.

“Gahhhhhh!” Yelled Dallin as he hit the ground. His troops were firing their weapons into the other truck setting off its gas tank and blowing it to into oblivion. The M113 then trained its gun’s on the rest of the squad. “Grab a RPG and take it out!” Yelled Dallin. But his words came too late, his men had no cover in which to hide behind and with the sun setting behind them, they were illuminated quite clearly. Men were trying to retreat back to the other side of the hill but the rapid firing of the gun mowed them down. One solider ran towards where the rest of Baker was in an attempt to get the rocket but had his legs blown out from under him. “Ahhhh!” Was all he cried out before he was hit again in mid-air.

Dallin could hear his men dying and he couldn’t do a thing about it. The wound in his leg prevented him from standing up long enough to get a shot at the tank. Dallin looked around and found rock nearby. He crawled as fast as he could towards it and propped himself up.

Drawing his RPG and reloading it, he got it sighted in on the tank. “Smile you son of a bitch!” He said as he pressed the trigger, the kick pushed him up and over the rock knocking him unconscious, but the rocket flew straight into the tank causing it to tip over and explode into a glorious pile of scrap and fire with men heard screaming inside it.

When Dallin awoke he found a medic above him working on his leg. “My men?” He croaked. “About three of them will live, I’m sorry, Sir.” Was all the medic said before Dallin was placed on a stretcher and carried to a nearby helicopter. Dallin laid his head back and wondered. He wondered what would become of him after losing so many men when he shouldn’t have. He wondered how he would tell the mothers, the wives and himself it was worth it, it was worth sacrificing those men to save hundreds, maybe millions of lives from trying to retake the town. But he still, he wondered if it was worth it.
