Over the course of Starcraft History, perhaps the most infamous Zerg rush has been the dreaded 4 pool. However, as many of you might know there is a strong rumor the spawning pool will be raised in cost to 200 minerals, making these rushes less effective. I realized that it might be the time to investigate new methods of rushing. I began to wonder if the terrans (now judged to be the best race by most experts) could match this rush with an equally fearsome rush of their own. Planning on testing my hypothesis, I created a 1v1 game on bloodbath.
My opponent was a player called ][ger. I chose terran and he chose toss.
He wasn't apparently the talkative type as he didn't even bother to send me any messages in the beginning besides the ritual setting of the network to high latency. I started at the 3 position and he landed in the 9. Now it was time to begin my rush. I restrained myself from instinctively clicking on the command center and pushing the hotkey to build an SCV and instead I started my 4 SCVs mining with those 50 saved minerals. As soon as I had gathered enough minerals I started a barracks. While the barracks was constructing I was busy pumping more SCVs. I sent my 5th SCV scouting. He was at the last spot I checked as bad luck would have it, however it mattered little, as my marine had just finished being produced as I found him. I gathered my rushers and prepared for my attack.
The toss player wasn't too bad, he already had a gateway up when I arrived and another warping in, no doubt with a zealot producing in the queue of the gate he already had. I realized I had two choices. I could go for the worker line trying to slow down his production, or I could strike the pylon in hopes of stopping the zealot. Figuring that one zealot could decimate my army, I chose the latter and ordered my conscripted army of SCVs and its marine commander to attack the pylon.
Well this guy apparently was taken by surprise, Im sure it was the last thing he expected. My marine led the SCVs onto the attack and they began slicing into the pylon. He kept his probes back mining apparently waiting for his zealot to come forth and demonstrate the power of a good old protoss beat down. Unfortunately for ][ger, my force took down his pylon long before the zealot was able to finish warping in. He decided a new strategy was in order as my marine begain taking potshots at his probes from behind a wall of SCVs. His probes made a desperate rush at my marine. Fortunately with good micro and the extra 20 hitpoints of my SCVs, I was able to win this battle with few SCV casualties.

Most of his probes fell to my superior microing skills, though he did eventually kill my marine commander, which wasn't a big deal since a replacement commander was en route by now. Though the new commander lacked the field experience of his deceased predecessor, I was confident he could finish the job. However this did pose a potential problem because I now had no workers in my mineral line and lacked enough minerals to build another unit. My rushers were now deep behind enemy lines with no hopes of reinforcements. While most of his probes were decimated by my scvs and marine micro, there was another pylon warping in which threatened to bring the mighty force of Aiur (one zealot in this case) onto my weary unit of rushers. I had little doubt the zealot in the unpowered gateway was at least 50% complete in its warp sequence, potentially more. I knew that pylon had to be taken down. I ordered all my SCVs and my marine to destroy it. It was a race against time now, could I destroy it in time?
Despite my initial worries, my crack team of workers was able to dismantle the pylon in record time, with the excellent leadership of their new commander.
I wasn't about to allow any kind of sneaky tactics to ruin my victory so I lifted off my CC and barracks to scout the other two starting spots to check for any possible expansions or hidden buildings. I doubted my opponent had anything like that but I wasn't going to be taking any chances and my idle CC and barracks could do nothing but act as scouts.
Meanwhile my forces began working on dismantling ][ger's nexus.
And Shortly after I received the message
Overall I was quite impressed with my 4 rax rush, while it was not as effective as the 4 pool, it proved to be quite capable of taking down an opponent, proving that the terrans are quite capable of quick rushes and easy victories. This is yet another reason why Terran and Zerg are superior to Protoss.
