No, this still isn't the FFA report, and a lot of people will be angry but oh well and it might be out next fall. Corb sent me a few replays with him against some well known players, and since not very many people got these replays I decided I'd to a BR of them just to show everyone BRing isn't dead just because of the advent of replays.

This game features Corbalt and [GG1]sVEN@aBs, a member of the World Team for WC2.

Before I start, this report is just a bit under five and a half megs, and it will kill your hamster.

I also resized every single picture in the collages to 75%, so they don't take up as much space, and the file size should also be a bit smaller.

Sorry, no alt text :|

The first game was played on the map New Remote Outpost, which is used by Game-Q for the World Championships as an official map. If you don't know what it looks like, here's the mini, complete with the player's starting positions.

heh, I guess I will add some since it's taking the pics so long to load.

Corb begins as yellow Protoss in the bottom left corner, while [GG1]sVEN@aBs starts as brown Terran in the bottom right corner. Here are the builds...

Sven scouts counter clockwise, finding Corb in the last place he looks, while Corb scouts the position opposite him first, probably seeing how much he can power, then scouting the top left position, and finally finding Sven in the last position he checks.

Even with the longer building times for goons, Corb tries his luck with the goon rush, and feigns Templar tech, but he cancels the citadel just a bit too early, and Sven's SCV sneaks back into Corb's base to find it missing. Corb starts a robofac after the SCV is killed by Corb's first goon, and then sends that goon along with a second one over to Sven's base.

The goons begin attacking a supply depot, but Sven's tank is out almost as soon as the goons arrive, and Corb orders the goons to attack the tank. Sven quickly pulls the tank back, utilizing its superior range over the goons. Corb runs his goons up Sven's ramp trying to get far enough away from the tank and still attack the depots, but one goon is still within range. Corb once again moves his goons to Sven's ledge to attack the tank, but Sven pulls back again, and brings an SCV over to repair. Corb goes after the depot once more, but this time the tank manages to kill one of the goons while Corb tries pulls them back, and Corb orders the remaining goon back to his base.

We can have a swordfight with our erect cocks! -Corbalt

Corb's attack puts Sven on the defense just a bit, and Corb takes the oppurtunity to expand to the top left main shortly after the battle is over.

While all this was going on Sven was constructing a command center to float over to the middle right expansion, and soon after the battle ends it's finished. Sven was also buliding an an ebay for detection along with academy for comsat, and it finishes soon after the second command center lands, with both command centers adding one on. As soon as they finish Sven scans Corb's main just in time to find a reaver being loaded into a shuttle with a zealot. He quickly brings over two tanks, and puts both into siege mode, one just above his mineral line and one in his mineral line, since units do not obstruct the peon's mining. He also builds two turrets, one overlooking his choke to prevent cheap tank kills, and one below and to the left of his command center, preventing any drops out of range of the tanks.

Corb sends half his probes from his main up to his expansion, while Sven begins a third command center in his main, planning to float it to his "natural". Corb also warps in a pylon in the upper right hand corner in his base, obviously planning to warp in something he doesn't want Sven Sven to see *hint hint* :|.

Corb's shuttle flies over just after the first turret is complete, and the turret manages to take down the shuttle's shields before Corb's able to fly it away. Corb finds a nice place to drop directly next to a tank to the north of Sven's command center. For some reason drops the reaver first, and it's quickly attacked by the tank sieged in Sven's mineral line, and Corb quickly reloads the reaver and zealot and heads towards Sven's ramp to see if he can cause any damage. Once again he drops the reaver first, and after it's reduced to a little over half its hitpoints by another tank, Corb loads it up and flies it to the middle of the map.

At Corb's super secret warping zone I see a stargate warping in, and soon after it's complete he warps in a beacon and another stargate, going for a little carrier rush. Notice at this point that Corb has more Nexii (plural of Nexus ;]) and stargates than he does gateways, balls of steel my friend.

Corb flies his shuttle down to Sven's natural to check up on things, and he arrives just in time to see the cc land. Sven brings down an scv to construct a turret, along with three tanks to help discourage drops. Sven lifts off the command center since it's too close to the turret to make a comsat station, and lands it a pixel over with the addon building. He builds another turret just above the minerals on the far left to make sure Corb can't hover anywhere.

Corb's added another pylon at his expansion, and he begins warping a forge and another gateway, bringing his total to two. He also finishes his goon range upgrade, and begins working on the air weapons upgrade. Also at his main there is a citadel, and soon after he starts an archives. Sven has been busy expanding, and he's still at one factory, but with three running bases, three comsats and a starport just finishing its control tower for dropships.

I watched this game with Corb, and soon after Sven's dropship is finished I notice Corb's main is scanned, and sven, no doubt, notices Corb's lack of troops, along with the cycore still spinning. Although Sven knows Corb has one expansion already, he probably suspects carriers.

Both players attempt to expand again, Sven starting a command center at his natural to float to the bottom middle expansion, and Corb warping in a pylon to place cannons before starting to warp in his nexus at the top middle expansion. Corb cancelled his forge for some reason, but then warps it in again on the other side of his gateway.

Sven unsieges one of his tanks from the ledge in his main and loads it up with another tank fresh from the factory into his dropship and heads over to Corb's base. All of Corb's forces are below his ramp at his main, and he has no cannons protecting his mineral line. Sven drops the tanks behind the minerals and sieges them up. The splash does major damage fast, and in three volleys the two tanks combine for sixteen kills. Corb quickly sends up two of his new leg-enhanced zealots and a few goons along with his shuttle to try and kill off the tanks. His forces manage to kill off one of the tanks, but Sven unsieges the other and loads it back into his shuttle. He drops it again near Corb's assimilator and orders it to attack a clump of the probes, killing almost ten of them in one volley. Corb's army has to march all the way around his minerals and nexus to reach the tank, allowing it to get off another volley on the probes, bringing the total probe kill count to 26 from the one drop. Sven doesn't try to save the last tank, as it's proven more than cost effective, and flies the dropship away as the tank explodes.

Just before this drop Corb starts a nexus in the left middle expansion after dropping a probe there, and he also completes the carrier capacity upgrade along with adding another starport. Corb later told me he realized three stargates was too many, and he might've even done ok with just one making constant cars.

Corb's first DT finished during the battle as well, and he sent it over near Sven's right middle expansion. It finds two tanks sitting idly, and after the battle Corb orders it to attack one. By now Sven has three comsats, and after scanning, the two tanks and a few gols make quick work of the DT.

By now Sven has scanned Corb's super secret warping place and he quickly begins massing gols out of his now four factories, only one with the machine shop addon, which begins researching charon boosters. Both players have also started on upgrades, Corb just weapons, and Sven with vehicle weapons and armor.

Sven's fourth cc has finished, and he floats it up to the bottom middle expansion and begins a comsat. Corb notices this with his shuttle, and drops two zealots and a reaver right next to the command center. Sven Sven is forced to cancel the comsat when it's about halfway done and lift off the command center. One of Sven's tanks manages to fire at the zealots, and they quickly run after it. Unfortunately for the zealots the tank is on lower ground, and the ramp is on the other side of the low ground. Corb catches the zealots as they get hit by another tank higher up and loads both of them along with the reaver back into the shuttle. Just as they're loaded up Sven arrives with a dropship full with three gols. The gols get off a few volleys of missiles on the shuttle, prompting Corb to drop a zealot to draw fire away from the shuttle.

The zealot quickly dies from both tank fire and the gols' dual machine guns. The shuttle hovers over the tank in the southern corner and drops the reaver and zealot. Sven brings his gols over and instead of attacking the reaver and zealot he first gets rid of the shuttle to prevent it from loading the reaver up and flying away, then it focuses on the damaged reaver and zealot. The reaver dies quickly to the gols' fire, but the zealot manages to live a bit longer, managing to kill the sieged tank before being killed by three gols fresh out of Sven's factories. After the battle Sven lands his cc and begins adding a comsat again.

Me: Sariax, Red Hunters? Sariax: wtf is that? ok, who cares, it sounds good.

During this battle Corb takes the time to expand to the top left start's natural, making a nexus where he already has a pylon and cannon. Corb also takes his four carriers from their hidden spot and takes them down to Sven's bottom middle expansion. Corb pauses a bit before attacking, waiting for the last two carriers to finish making their interceptors. While waiting, Sven begins constructing a factory at the top middle expansion, probably having seen Corb's expansion and is planning to tank it once his factory is done.

Corb's interceptors finish for the most part, and after jabbing into Sven's expansion a few times without unloading the interceptors, Corb finally decides to attack. Sven had just finished two missile turrets, and along with three gols they make up Sven's defense. Corb does a bit of carrier micro - engaging units with the interceptors then moving the actual carrier back while the interceptors continue attacking until the carriers are out of range - until he realizes this isn't really neccessary and engages Sven's defense. Sven's attention was elsewhere, and the carriers aren't even targetted. The two turrets and the goliaths are killed shortly, but soon Sven shows up with a control group of goliaths, which drive Corb out of Sven's expansion.

Corb orders the carriers to head over to Sven's main, where they attack a defenseless depot, and begin attacking one of Sven's factories before they're driven out by some gols from Sven's bottom middle expansion along with a few more fresh from the factories in his main. Sven sent all the goliaths to his main to help get rid of the carriers, but when they're halfway there he realizes Corb can just turn his carriers around and go back to his expansion, so he sends half of the goliaths back to his expansion.

That's exactly what Corb does, and begins attacking the command center as Sven's goliaths arrive. The goliaths quickly drive Corb away, and Corb orders the carriers to hold position in the little nook between Sven's main and his expansion. He told me he thought his carriers were safe there, but the goliath's charon boosters reach far enough to attack him from Sven's expansion. Another eight goliaths stand on Sven's ledge in his main to prevent any retreat. The last of Corb's carriers die, and Sven again focuses his attention on Corb's expansion at the top left's natural.

Sariax: k, make. Me: ok, whoops I don't have it...

Sariax: ok then, 1v1 Sapphire Isles? Me: No thx, I only red hunters.

During the battle Corb began a pylon on the ledge overlooking where Sven was building his factory. After the pylon warps in he throws down a cannon which is just within firing range of the factory's machine shop if it adds one. Sven was also busy during the battle, and he does add on a machine shop, as well as building another ebay for spotting purposes.

The machine shop finishes around the same time Corb builds two more cannons on the lower ground, still powered by the pylon. The cannon on higher ground starts firing on the machine shop, while Sven queues up two tanks. Sven queues up two tanks because as long as you start production of tanks while the machine shop is on, even if the machine shop is destroyed, the tanks continue making.

Sven sees the cannons now, and sends a tank along with four gols up to deal with them. The gols arrive a bit before the tank, and begin attacking the cannon. The cannon manages to kill one of the gols before Sven pulls them back and sieges his tank. At this time Corb sends a few units of his own, a goon, two zealots, two dts and two hts. Sven's first tank pops out of his shopless factory, and with the ebay spotting for him he sieges it up to begin racking up probe kills. Sven also makes a turret at the top corner for detection. The tank accompanied by the goliaths takes down the cannon on higher ground, and Sven unsieges and moves forward.

Sven also brings about eight more goliaths up in case Corb brings any units to help fight back the attack, and along with the original four goliaths and the tank, Sven sends them to attack the last two cannons. Corb's probe that was used to make the cannons managed to stay alive before Sven's tank sieged, and it begins attacking the tank. The probe gets the tank down to about half its hitpoints before another tank pops out of Sven's factory and finishes it off.

Corb's forces finally arrive, and he first sends in his two dts. They kill a few units before they wander in range of Sven's turret, and they're killed off with two tanks and a gol remaining. Corb then places a nice storm over two of the tanks, and after the storm kills one tank Corb sends in a zealot to finish the other off.

Sariax: But I thought ~nohunters... Me: Shut up, you thought wrong.

During this little skirmish Sven sent an SCV up to the top right expansion, where he finds Corb's nexus that had just finished warping in. Sven sends about six SCVs to take down the expansion before it's running at full capacity.

During all this Sven constructed a turret below Corb's nexus for detection, and his gols and tank arrive and begin razing the base. One of Corb's probes damage the turret down to 80 hp before it's killed by a goliath, and the turret is repaired by a nearby SCV.

Before Sven's last tank was killed at the top middle expansion, Sven drops four gols on Corb's middle left expansion. With no cannons or other units there, the probes are quickly taken down and the assimilator and nexus destroyed.

Corb's arbiter tribunal finishes, and he begins warping in two arbiters from his stargate, while researching recall. Corb also begins warping a cannon in behind his minerals at the top left natural to help prevent both an expansion to the top middle by sven, and another move like the one just made.

The last thing going on through all this was Corb's small attack force heading for Sven's main. The force consisted of a control group of zealots and an archon, but Corb Corb didn't stop to group them before they attacked, and going in single file they only managed to kill a gol or two from the group of six gols and a tank guarding Sven's base.

Corb's upper right base is taken down by Sven's forces, and Sven sends a tank and two gols over to the far left platform of that expansion position. At the top right natural, Corb's goon and zealot finish off Sven's factory, while Sven sieges his tank on the top right expansion platform, killing Corb's warping cannon in two volleys of arclite cannon fire, then attacking and killing the zealot. Corb sends his goon and two templar up there, and mistakenly double storms the tank. The goon is killed in two volleys, and although Corb turns the two templar into a summoning archon, the tank fire along with the fire from a few gols is enough to kill it before it's finished.

Corb begins a nexus next to the one already warped at the top middle expansion, to expediate mining since the minerals are so far away.

A bit after Corb warps in the second nexus at his expansion, Sven decides it's time to take it down, and sends a group of seven gols and an SCV up to Corb's base. The gols encounter no resistance except a lone cannon, which is quickly destroyed. Sven moves in and once again constructs a turret below Corb's nexus for detection. The gols kill all of the probes and begin work on the nexii. The nexus on the right is taken down quickly enough, but Corb doesn't sit idle and orders a group of mixed forces to quell the attack.

Me: Onto channel VAGINA! IGotToPee: How about a nice tall glass of shut the fuck up? Me: no deal :|

The goliaths at this expansion manage to get the nexus down to 46 hp before Corb's forces show up. After a nicely placed storm, the goliaths are all dealt with, and then the last SCV is killed, which ran the nexus down to 26 hp with its dangerous fusion cutters.

Corbalt: Hey, I thought we were going to orgy =[

These forces run into three tanks at the choke leading to the middle of the map, but Sven catches them before they're overwhelmed and orders them to move near a tiny platform. There he drops three gols, and loads up two of the three tanks into the dropship and drops them with the gols. Then he micros his lone tank on the low ground so that the gols and other tanks take care of it and that tank takes no damage. Corb loses three zealots this way before ordering the other forces that followed the tank to head on to Sven's expansion.

Me: FINE CORBALT WE ORGY

FFA ORGY MSG ME!!!

There four of Corb's zealots attack a depot, while two goons attack a floating ebay and a templar mills around aimlessly. Sven is quick to try and stop the attack, and he sieges a tank in the corner made by the high and low ground, and orders it to attack the templar. The templar dies in two volleys, and then the tank attacks the zealots. The zealot's AI tells them to attack the tank, and not attack anything else until the tank is dead, and that's exactly what they do. Two of Corb's zealots die from gol fire before he pulls them back.

At Sven's expansion Corb has just brought some more of his forces from his main to help attack , and he clears off the two tanks with a few storms, as well as one of the gols before moving on. He has three goons and a few zealots, and after the tank in the corner that's caused to much trouble is cleared away by the goons, Corb's forces begin taking down Sven's SCVs. Sven cuts his losses and orders his SCVs to mine from his natural, which is much more heavily defended than his bottom middle expansion.

k, taht's all the alt text I have :[

During this battle Corb sends one of his arbiters down the the bottom middle exp, and after firing its phase disruptor cannon at a turret, Corb pulls it back to the far left edge of Sven's main. Corb has also attacked the top right natural with his last two carriers, taking out the turret and tank on the ledge, and moving on to Sven's new expansion, built up soon after Sven took Corb's down. The carriers join three dts that were already attacking the expansion, and Sven realizes his SCVs are in danger, and moves them back down to his main base.

I guess you can keep hovering if you want, but it'll only...

About now I see a large convoy of tanks headed for Corb's top left expansion. Sven sends his remaining tanks to the top right expansion in hopes of saving it. The tanks only manage to kill one zealot before being killed off by Corb's carriers. Corb finishes off the command center and refinery with the carriers and two of his dts, the third having followed the scvs, which are now arranged in a ring around the dt, much to the dt's delight. The dt picks off six of the SCVs before Sven catches on and moves them to a safer place.

At Corb's top left expansion things are getting rough and tough and stuff, as most of Corb's forces are killed before the tanks even need to siege. When the first half of Sven's tanks do siege, the rest of Corb's forces are quickly quashed. Corb moves his arbiter over the group of tanks, and begins attacking them. Corb has a goon and two archons outside his top left choke battling a few of the lagging tanks, and as the last tank explodes, Corb recalls the goon and an archon into the middle of the sieged tanks. The duo takes out quite a few tanks before they're killed, and along with some reinforcements doing some damage, Sven is left with only two tanks. Unfortunately for Corb these tanks manage to rack up 18 kills, 17 of them probe assassinations, and the 18th the destruction of a pylon. Corb gets his forces together and moves in with the arbiter doing the cloaking, finally ending the threat.

Heh, made you hover again.

Ask Corb about Federal Agent Billings

Somewhere during all this confusion Corb warps in a nexus at the top left natural, but Sven sieges two tanks in the corner of the high ground overlooking that expansion, and the tanks take the nexus down. Sven also heads in with a dropship full with a tank and two goliaths for Corb's to middle expansion. The gols unload just as the carriers are out of range, and they begin attacking the probes. The tank gets off one shot before being ordered to siege, and as it attacks a probe its splash takes down the nexus. Corb's remaining probes head for his top left expansion, while Corb anxiously queues up probes in his remaining nexii.

Corb decides it's the time to put the arbiter at Sven's base to use, and he heads over to Sven's natural. He recalls his forces from his top left exp, consisting of two carriers, a dt, two archons and a couple of goons. Sven has a nice defense there, and Corb's army won't have a picnic. The three turrets first target the arbiter, but they soon wise up and begin attacking one of the pair of carriers. The carrier had hardly any of its shields up with it was recalled, and its remaining hp are quickly torn away by the turrets. Sven brings a goliath over to deal with the second carrier after the third turret is destroyed, and the carrier dies after a few hellfire missile packs collide with it, its hp's already having been in the red. Corb's ground forces quickly kill off the two tanks Sven had in the corner, and they soon begin attacking Sven's two factories.

This collage took literally forever, and I almost had to do it over again, thanks to my mighty 32 megs of RAM.

At the same time Corb recalls his forces into Sven's expansion, Sven has a force of half a dozen tanks, a few vults and a few gols attacking Corb's main. The metal tears through Corb's defenseless main, and after Corb's forces are disposed of by sven, corbalt says a gg and surrenders.

Ok, ok, I'm really AngryMyst, don't tell anyone tho :|

This was one of the most exciting games I've ever seen, and it could have been even more exciting and lasted longer had Corb kept up with his upgrades.

This game also showcases the improved power of gols with their new range upgrade for ground to ground. Whereas before they could never be used alone, Sven used them alone quite well on a few occasions.

Someone else already posted the replay of this, but I'll post it again shortly after you read this, if it's not up already.

Thanks to Nate for proofing, at least the first half, and also to Corb for allowing me to report this game.

I did an interview with Corb, and it should be posted in Rook's Corner within the next few days.

Thanks a lot for reading, and comment so I feel special :]

Hopefully you recognize more than my fez now :|
