Others: Satan, Yankee, Arctic and one more which i don't remember the name of, but that will be called Yellow in this report.
This game was played several years ago on a LAN in a school in northern Sweden. I think the year was 97, or 96.
Anyway i remember this game pretty good beacause it was the first time me and
my playing partner didn't know what we were up against.
So far we had played games which offered some or little resistance, with a few exceptions.
We started up a game for bridge, just waiting for players to join. After a while
several people joined in. We don't know who they are, but there's four of them. Since we don't who they are we decide to take on a third player on our team, this had never happended before. We look around the computer room a found our victim. He says he has played war2 and is willing to join. We are happy to have found such a great new allie, or so we think.
He soon joins and, Balder that is, all three of us chooses orcs, i never play anything else.
So the game gets started, we have no clear allied strategy, and my partner, DeathDealer, and i are concerned about how our new allied will do, because early scouting tells us that the enemies are no newbies.
My partner and i have played many, many games together and know exactly how the other guys thinks, but this new guy we knew nothing about.
I start at 10, my partner at 3 and Baldur i think was at 7.
We are not sure about all the enemys yet but i know about Satan, situated at the 13 position and my partner DeathDealer knows about yellow at 5.
I start out with building a barracks and towers becuase i'm worried about getting attacked early by grunts. The goal is as always to reach bloodlust and d&d quickly.
I know that Satan is human and that is good news, but he is to close to home for it to be safe.
I decide, after discussing with my partner, that i will attempt to knock him out early. He agrees and also mentiones he has a bad feeling about this, the players we are playing are so far not attacking me or my partner, i don't know about Baldur, there's a feeling in the air that something bad is going to happen.
I double my efforts to quickly get some ogres and a sapper. I dont want to wait anylonger to take out Satan.
I think around this time i am attacked by some knights but nothing my towers and ogres cant handle. I realize that Yankee is at the 9 position.
DeathDealer joins in the fun when i attack, this was also the plan if he could get his forces there, Satan.
Satan has a good defence but we rip it apart but help from, i think, Arctic, shows up with knights to help, but i cannot change the outcome, Satan is destroyed, or so we think.
At this time we know that three of the four players are human, and we are happy, not excited just relieved. But we are also scared, we suspect that we are playing the people a grade above us in school. They are supposed to be the best in the school.
Happy about our win i take an expansion at Satans old position and the goldmine in between my base and Satans old place. That leaves me with three mines.
All the time the attacks gets more and more intense for all of us, still don't know about Baldur, DeathDealer and i have seen nothing of him and do not consider him as any support to count on. We actually worry his practically dead. I don't really know why we didn't talk to him much, he was in the same room, guess we didn't have time. He says he is doing ok anyway.
I decide its time to attack yankee, he has been bothering me for a long time now. DeathDealer is concerned with Arctic, the black player identified in the middle.
We decide we are strong enough to attack them both at the same time, little did we know that this would be our, our atleast DeathDealers, biggest mistake in the game.
I do the usual stuff, scout every square inch of yankees base and surroundings. It seems safe, but he has plenty of paladins. I decide it's possible with and an attack and on a given command DeathDealer and i release our hordes against yankee and Arctic.
I start out with sappers, 5 or 6 i think to take out towers, catapults and some knights. After that the dk's let's the humans have it with d&d and coil.
Yankee charges his knights at my ogres who are already bloddlusted. A tough battle starts, somehow Yankee had more kngihts and money then i thought.
I win the battle but have lost men, i withdraw to relative safety to get fresh reinforcements in and reorganize my forces.
I charge the base with my orges and soon resistance is broken. But from some unseen barrack knights still show up now and then to harras my peaceful ogres.
At this time the largest problem we had in the game appears. I take a quick look at the minimap, there is something different, but i don't know what. I look again. Hmm, DeathDealers main base i Yellow, i don't remember him being Yellow.
I ask him, i think everything is perfectly alright i have just mixed something up, and i have not heard anything from Deathdealer about problems,"Are you aware that your base is yellow?". What?, he responds. Yes, your base appears to be Yellow, is something wrong with me screen?. Then he looks at his base.
NO!, he screams, wtf. God damn, i need help, now!
Whats wrong, i ask. My base i completely overrun with yellow bloodlusted ogres,he respond. They have broken down his defense and are tearing down his base. He has noticed nothing since he has been in the middle of a demanding invasion of Arctic. If i hadn't seen it his main would have been lost completely.
His forces are in the middle of fights and he can't pull them out. I quickly offer to, as the fighting with yankee is almost over, to send my northern strike force, which i used to destroy Satan. He mumbles something and desperatly tries do disengage his battle with Arctic, sweat all over his forehead. I guess that's a yes.
I leave my forces at Yankee and quickly send my relatively strong strike force down to his main. I don't really know what to expect but im sure casualties will be high on both sides. I must try to save what is left of his base.
I stop just outside his base, and my zeppelins who have converged at his main tells my that this i a big force and they are destroying at will, to bloodlust and get it on.
A gigantic battle follows with me heavily outnumbered. But many of Yellows orges have lost there bloodlust and all my boys have it. I fight to the bitter end and destroy maybe 75% of yellows forces. I let DeathDealer know that the northern part of his base is cleared and i have managed to save him some valuable buildings and that i have lost my entire strike force. He has recovered from his panic and has managed to disengage his huge force and now he is pissed. He thanks me for my brave attack to save his base. He declares he does not need any more help taking out the last ogres in his main. As my zeppelins pass by outside Arctic i believe him, a huge force of ogres, sapper and dks are heading towards his main.
He quickly secures his base and starts to check the damadges. His has lost almost everything. But the fortress, some farms and a barrack still stands burning. He starts to rebuild his forces and money machine, luckily he has an expansion.
I once again turn my attention to Yankee. He is dead. As i am about to continue the assault to 7 i see 2 axethrowers walking towards my forces. I quickly bloodlust but then realise that it is Balder. He sends me the message: "Have you killed him, i was about to attack him". I don't know what to say.
I continue my assault and DeathDealer reports yellow is attacking him and he is enjoying to kill them off.
As i pass Balders main i se he has nothing, well almost. I shake my head and continue and find to my suprise, Satan!. The bastard escaped our first attack and has built a new base. It is swiftly destroyed by my ogres. A combined attack on Yellow ends the conflict. We get som trash talk from yellow, when we kill the base. Somehow we, by this message, identifie her, i repeat her!, as one of the players in the grade above us. We are excited, that must mean that the rest of them are also from that gang. And we have beaten them, 2vs4 really. Balder didn't do shit.
This was one of the best games i ever had, i took hours and a remember that this really boosted our selfasteam. We had beaten some of the best players at the school, from that day on we feared noone.
