A note:
-This map takes place on the Lost Temple SC map. Kon's base, starting out, is the base at 12 o'clock.
The Lost Temple Conflict
"Sir, we've landed. Scouts are already out searching for any camps, and we have SCVs out mining the nearest mineral patch." The young man speaking was Private Jacob Matthewson, a new recruit.
"The next time you come in here, I want 2 barracks up, and I want supply depots up. Got it?" This man was General Kon. No one except for no one knew his real name. He led the mission here on Planet Aura.
Matthewson nodded, and walked out. Kon got up out of his "bed" that he had been in during the voyage here(They call it a bed, but it's really just a metal box) and went to wash his face.
They launched from Meccha (the capital planet of a group called the Armed Terran Resistance) with a command center, 22 SCVs and 6 Marines. The mission on Aura was to win the planet from whoever had control now. The ATR needed the resources, and it's military needed the training and research space.
Already, it was known that the Protoss had atleast a small encampment in the south, and that there was another Terran group to the south east. It was suspected that there was a Zerg swarm on the planet as well, but without any science vessels, and their ability to burrow out of site, no one was sure.
This'll be a fun little war.. thought Kon. He walked out of the bathroom and went to get dressed.
"Alright, listen up people!! I want the 2 barracks, each to east of the command center. You and you," he pointed at two random SCVs,"You two go build them in zone 3 and 4." The two SCVs went off as fast as the SCV back-burners would take them.
"The General also wants supply depots ready for the men when they finish training, and ready for the men we have. We need atleast 3 supply depots, and with the marines we'll need 5! got it? You 2 in zone 2, and you 3 in zone 5.. Go go go!"
Matthewson, though a private, was granted the powers of a General. The reason being he was Kon's, the commanding general, assistant. People always wanted to stay friendly with him, and orders went directly through him.
Matthewson walked back in the command center, when he was alerted of a returning scout team.
Good, they're back.. Atleast now I'll have something to tell the General.
The team of 2 marines ran, stim-packed and all, to the command center. They would be healed as soon as medics were trained, so no need to worry.
"What's out there, boys?," questioned Matthewson."
"Okay sir, we have recon from 2 teams now. As formerly suspected we have 2 settled in visitors - Protoss and Terran. The Protoss in the south have warped in carriers and such. We don't have any specific numbers, but we'd say the army is a rate 5."
Rate 5? Good.. With time we could work ourselves up to rate 10, so no need to worry about them.
"The Terran camp to the south east is UED territory. They have nukes and ghosts.. Rate 9, they said."
Ahah.. That could be a problem.
"Alright," said Matthewson, "What about the 3rd team?"
The two marines looked at each other.
"They, uh, never came back.."
Matthewson rolled his eyes. He had power, but he didn't have real power. He couldn't yell at them, because any threats would be empty until he talked to Kon. And if he heard that Matthewson thought he had power.. Well, that would just about be the end of his power.
"Okay boys, keep a lookout. And go keep an eye on the hill leading to the base. Get everyone you can over there.
Matthewson went up to the General's quarters' and told him the information he'd recieved. The General didn't get too annoyed at the missing team, just simply ordered another 2 teams out there, ASAP.
Kon's plan was simple: Nuke the bastards. He'd come in with a clean up squad of infantry at the end. But, he had to be careful. All he could build was 3 nukes. He didn't have the material for anymore. Or, for that matter, the clearence.
Within a day of landing the ATR squad had established itself well on Aura. It had a good 4 barracks up, countless supply depots, 5 factories and 3 rows of bunkers -- Two on the hill leading up to the camp, and one by the command center.
They were in the process of constructing a vast network of Missle Turrets, a complex consisting of a science facility and 4 armories.
Meanwhile it had been reported that both enemy camps had stoped construction and focused on training and warping in a fit military. And, for now, it seemed that the Protoss were winning.
"We will sweep through in a counter-clockwise fashion, and will have minimal casualties. There is no better way!," screamed an old man in military clothes.
"NO!," yelled another, "We must kill the Protoss first! And save the nuclear devices for the Terran traitors!
"Men, men.."
Kon smiled in his chair.
"Don't argue like this. Either way the ATR will win the day. But, sorry Colonel, we are going with the counter-clockwise plan. It is the quickest way, and I'm sure you all want to get home to your families."
"Fool!"
"Yes, yes .. that's great," said Kon, in a calm voice.
By the first week the ATR camp was a rate 9 army, and was ready to attack the Terrans. They had ghosts by the hundreds, marines by the thousands, and an air-force second to none on the planet.
"Finally I get to see some action!" This particular marine, Marcus O'Connell, was a private who had just enlisted. He was going to be among the first wave into the Terran territory after the nuclear bomb hit. He was going to the briefing of his entire battalion, and he was as excited as he was when he got his first air-bike.
Time: 1 Week, 1 day, and 24 minutes after the landing of the ATR Forces....
Place: A 3 mile trench that held the first wave of clean up fighters, located to the south of the Terran camp....
Nuclear Launch Detected. Evacuate Area Immeaditly. Nuclear Launch Detected. Evacuate...
It kept flashing in his helmet, and every other infantry unit in that trench. They were about 1 mile from where the bomb would hit, and they knew it.
Inside the Terran camp this surprise attack came as just that: A surprise, a shock even. Sure they'd fought the Protoss, but Terrans? And not as heavy as Nuclear warfare. They had sent out search teams to find the ghost, but this ghost was too good. He was in and out before anyone even saw the missle in the sky.
Oh my god. Those were the thoughts of Private O'Connell as well as thousands of other marines when they first saw the missle come out of the clouds about 1/4 a mile away. They knew it was time.
When it finally came down, it was spectacular. No one looked away, and ducked as they were told.. It was too amazing. Millions of civilians practically exploded as the bomb hit, hundreds of buildings gone. They didn't merely collapse, rather they were vaporized. All the military, except for the bunkers and the automated defenses, were underground by now though. This is why they needed a clean up crew.
O'Connell ran forward when his C.O. yelled the command. It was quite a scene: 2 Thousand infantry(marines, medics and firebats) in unison, along with 200 tanks and wraiths charging forward together.
As quickly as it turned into a mass-grave the former encampment jumped back into life as marines and tanks came out of underground bunkers, with wraiths following. It was going to be a bloody battle after all.
O'Connell came within 200 yards of the first enemy marines, and dived down. Not for cover, but rather better traction. He had earned medals as a great sniper, and so that what was he did.
Every few seconds he would press down on his trigger, and another enemy would go down screaming, holding their neck, or dying before they hit the ground. As new as O'Connell was he didn't show it.
5 minutes into the fight he was down to 1 bullet. He emptied that out of his gun quickly and took another man out. He threw the sniper rifle off and slipped on his gauss rifle, which he used to his heart's content, thanks to the practically unlimited ammo.
After a few minutes of using the gauss, he finally got hit. He didn't know it until he saw it, but when he saw it, the pain became real.
He was hit in his hip, so he couldn't walk anymore. He couldn't even sit. And no one could stop for him. There were people wounded much worse, for the medics, and his marine comrades could do no good with him except comfort him. And marines just don't do that sort of thing.
He screamed as the pain surged throughout his body, and for a half a minute he couldn't move.
He finally got the will to move, and within a second he was letting it all go from his Gauss. He took down 3 or 4 marines every few seconds, and now he loved it more then before. He still couldn't walk, but he could fire.
Inside his head he was laughing. He was getting revenge.. And, most of all, letting out all his anger on the enemy.
And then.. it went black..
Okay, so it wasn't too great.. Meh. It was my first BR, and a fanfic at that. I need Constructive Critisicm, not just you yelling at me!! And, hey, praise would be good too :) .. Anyways, expect more from me, and more from this series(it'll get better!) in a lil' while. I'll be posting some real reports after I finish this series..
