Hello all and welcome to Computer's first report. Before we proceed, I must warn you that this report has no pics whatsoever. This report has no HTML skills either, it’s HTML-free. And lastly, it is pretty long, so if you don't like long text-only's then go read some gosu's reports. Enjoy!

Introduction: I had really improved with my game in the past few months and I wanted to duke it out with some gosu players, so I entered battle.net - channel Clan ~NoHunters and waited for any gosus to come into the channel. Unfortunately for me, no gosus were in the channel, and if there were any they were going off to play different game. Nobody had anything to do with a newbie like me. Wanting to test my skill, I knew just where to find it.
I hadn't had a ladder game in over six months so I decided to join up in one and play a game.

Map: Lost Temple
Me: Purple Terran at 9:00
-{SD}-OhYe--:-(: Orange Protoss at 12:00

I whizzed through the short list of ladder games and came across a game called "lost temple newbies only" so I joined. I don't know why, but I did. I wasn't a newbie-basher, and I'm not that bad at the game, but it was my first ladder game, and I wanted to see the level of play from random ladder players.
I entered the chatroom and found myself against some random pubbie, named -{SD}-OhYe--:-(. Hey, with a name like that, he's got to be good.
We chatted awhile about what matchup to play. He wanted me to be zerg, so he said, so he could have butchered me with his Terran. I laughed, and told him I wanted random. He insisted, but I told him "no", and he gave in. He started the countdown.

When he saw me randommed, he decided to play smart and randommed as well. When the game started, I found myself purple terran at 9:00. I began to get worried because terran was my worst race, and if the matchup was bad, I might suck even more.
I quickly sent my scvs and damaged my command center. Now I suppose you all wondering why, and if you don't know I'll tell you. Just lately, my friend SiG., better know as Thunder., told me that in ladder games, if your opponent left as soon as the game started, and damage was already done, then you could get points. Stupid, eh? I know.
With my CC damaged a bit, I could quickly get on with other matters. I quickly cloned my peons to seperate mineral patches, and he complained about the lag, while I told him I had cable, and he told me he had 56k modem. I laughed again.
I quickly began a depot atop my ramp and started on a wall-in. The depot was followed by a barracks and completed my wall-in. That's what was good about being at 9, because you only needed on depot to wall-in.
Anyways, I scouted with my scv, counter-clockwise, to the 6 position, while I built an extractor. At this point, I tried to reveal my newbieness and asked him:

"i'm a newb, so could you tell me what race u r?"

He said I would have found out soon enough. :O I started another depot, as I neared full control and sent my scouting scv onto the 3:00 position. I built a marine, so I could have at least minimal defence, and sent my scouting scv to the 12:00 main.
As I reached my 19th scv, I quickly started a factory. Late, huh? Then started another on my 21st scv. You could say dual factory, but I didn't think so.
My scouting scv climbed the dusty ramp and found a pylon warping atop. Now I realized my opponent was Protoss. The scv ran deeper into the heart of the Protoss main and I found a warping gateway, a built gateway, a cybernetics core and a bunch of scattered pylons. Unfortunately, before I had a chance to harass, a zealot came and destroyed my scv, and just as it died, I saw his probe come and started warping a forge.
Now I thought, cannons, knowing newbies, but then a zealot walked right up my ramp and into the waiting wall-in. Now my factory had been completed and I attached the machine-shop add-on for it. But what I didn't know was that he had warped a pylon at the 6:00 mineral-only, probably waiting to expo there or something. (I wish I had some pictures right now).
Both my machine-shop add-on and second factory were completed by now and I build a tank and a single vulture, and researched Spider Mines at the machine-shop. His zealot walked right into the wall-in, where two marines awaited behind it. The marines managed to get shots on the zealot, while the zealot ran frantically around, trying to get past the wall-in.
My vulture ran out of the factory and to my wall-in where I had rallied my factories to, and it began firing its little grenades at the zealot. The zealot fell quickly, since vultures own zealots because of their damage stats (or whatever you call it).
I started a machine-shop add-on for my second factory and built another tank out of the other one. My main had consistent scvs mining and my wall-in was defended well.
Just then, another zealot climbed my ramp (will newbies ever learn?) and tried to get past the wall-in just like the other did before it fell to grenades and rifle shots. Unfortunately, there was a small gap between the barracks and cliff, where the zealot could almost fit through - there was a marine in the gap, and the zealot’s blades could just reach the marine, and the marine fell. But with combined tank fire this time, the zealot died - again.
I quickly built a lone tank and a lone vulture out of my factories. I sent my marine scouting to the 12:00 main. Unfortunately, before my marine could even walk up the ramp and took a look at anything, photon blasts issued from the top of the cliff, and decimated my marine.
Atop my ramp, I lifted my barracks and sent two vultures out to place 6 mines (that's three each, for those who can't do the math) atop the ramp to stop any dark templar or even any goons and such.

I built two more tanks from both factories and a starport went up in my main.
Suddenly, I noticed an orange dot on my minimap - and that orange dot was in my main. I quickly clicked over and saw a shuttle getting ready to unload its cargo.
I was in trouble, because I had just sent my small, terran force to assault the 12 main, and without any base defence, I was toast. So, realizing the only sensible thing to do was to wait for my two tanks to finish up.
Out of the shuttle popped out a reaver and a lone zealot. I sent my scvs off minerals, just as my tanks finished. My scvs attacked the lonely zealot and I sieged my tanks a little bit away from the reaver.
Some of my scvs attacked the reaver, and when the reaver tried to escape it was too late, the tank got a shot of the reaver, and blew it up. The zealot soon died to scv fusion cutters. I quickly resumed mining. At this point he was like:

"WTF?"

But that's probably because he didn't realize his reaver/zealot had died. He was more worried about his own base and did not control his units at my main. I just laughed.
Just then, my starport finished and I attached the add-on for it, the control tower.
My terran force reached the 12 choke and I sieged three tanks, but with no visibility to upper ground, I was just sitting ducks. So, me being somewhat clever and stupid sent one of my vultures up the ramp to get visibility to the upper grounds.
As soon as my vulture biked up the ramp my sieged siege tanks quickly fired atop the ramp at two cannons placed there. I quickly lost vision again, and I sent my last vulture up the ramp, while sieging my unsieged tank just below the ramp. As soon as fog of war was off, my tanks quickly dispatched the last cannon and my vulture had free will inside the protoss main. Unluckily for him, a cannon in orange's mineral line destroyed the vulture.
My tanks opened fire on the pylon that was used to fuction the cannons, and the pylon fell also.
I unsieged one of my tanks and sent it up the ramp, where I regained vision once more.
Orange had two zealots run out his gateways, and started more zealots and another gate.
But unfortunately, the two new recruits, being new, ran right into tank fire, and quickly stabbed the nearest tank with its sharp blades. Luckily for me, my tank placement made it easy to dispatch the zealots. UNLUCKILY, the splash damage was just too much for the tank, and it blew up, with its parts flying all over the ground.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a shuttle came in and dropped two reavers right into the middle of all the tanks. I tried attacking the reavers, but my screen read "Target is too close". How could I forget?
The reavers dispatched my tanks as quickly as they came.
In my main, which I had left alone for a long time, I quickly began to rebuild my army and a science facility, which I had started earlier had been completed. Yup, you guessed it - EMP Shockwave, the weakness of all protoss warriors.
Two more tanks arrived at the chokepoint at 12:00 main and destroyed the two reavers and proceeded onto the main base. Unforunately, more zealots came, and they destroyed both tanks.
I then moved out again, with 4 tanks and 2 vultures.
Using my vultures, I quickly lay mines all over the ground at the 12:00 base. Dark templars came and the mines ambushed it, and the dark templar blew into a blue flame.
More dark templar were coming out from his gateway's and I noticed another orange speck in my main. I quickly clicked over once again, but I didn't notice any cargo being dropped. Suddenly, swish, swish, BOOM. One of my scvs exploded but there was nothing there.
Then I saw a blur move along to the next scv. A dark templar. Unfortunately for me, no units were at my main, and I had no detecion other than my turrets.
I started on two tanks at my main while my tanks at 12 climbed the ramp. Unfortunately no detection owned tanks, as they all exploded to DT warp blades.
I started a science vessel. Earlier on, though I forgot to mention, I had started a command center in my main (to float into place at my natural) and third factory, which had both been completed just now.
I quickly ran my scvs away, to the detection range of my turrets. My tanks quickly pursued the lone DT and sent its miserable life back to Aiur in a blue flame.
End game creeped nearer, but it wasn’t about to start yet, as orange got ready to drop some more on me. This time it was 2 DT and and 2 zealots out of the shuttle. Luckily, a turret saw this attack coming and I quickly sent my tanks and vultures in with a backed up sci vessel. The tanks stood back and fired their little cannons while the vultures biked in and started firing their little grenades at the invaders. The four protoss left as quickly as they came.
Now I also started on two more starports because I thought he would go all zealot and dark templar without any air defence at all.

At this point, I lifted my barracks and sent it to the top-left island to start an expansion there. (I don't know why I didn't expand to my natural)
My two starports finished and I began and trained three wraiths from all three starports. Afterwards, I began a dropship to cargo my units to and fro. Then I sent one of my wraiths to scout for any Protoss expansions.
My dropship flew out of the hangar of the starport and I loaded up four vultures for to peon harrass. I know it was a bit late, but since he was dropping I decided to drop as well. While I sent the dropship on its way to the Protoss main at 12, I past an idle shuttle.........
My scouting wraith (remember him?) found a Protoss expansion at the 6:00 main just below my 9:00 main, so I dispatched all my wraiths, 4-8 of them to the expansion. There they began to pick off the probes and fired on random buildings, and continued doing so for awhile because he had no defence at his new expansion.
By now, I had entered the protoss main with my dropship. I unloaded my vultures and frantically began laying mines. Unfortunately, his dropship that I had past had informed him of my drop coming and he had two DT waiting there along with a cannon.
My new expansion at my 9 natural had finished and I maynarded some scvs over there, probably about 16~. My main base was in good condition as it had 10~ tanks and 8~ vultures and one sci vessel that defended it.
My wraiths continued to fire their lasers onto the nexus, and it exploded shortly after with a BOOM! Then the wraiths began razing other buildings.
I could tell he was pissed as he loaded three dropships full of protoss units and headed towards his dying expansion. I quickly followed with my scouting dropship.
He might have realized I had troops inside that dropship, but in reality I didn't. He took his three shuttles that were being pursued to his choke, where to goons began to fire onto the hulls of the dropship. I couldn't care less for the dropship anyways, so let it die.
Now I sent my terran force which consisted of 6 tanks 12 vults and a couple of sci vessels to his main, where I hoped to destroy it.
My vultures ran in first and quickly tried to lay down mines, while my tanks got free hits off the protoss units. Zealots came in first and blew three mines and sacrificed themselves "For Aiur!" Then, four DT, a couple more goons, and more zealots ran in and assaulted the vultures. The sieged tanks killed all goons and the rest of the mines killed the DT. I managed to cast an EMP Shockwave over the remaining zealots, and they died to vultures.
The whole protoss force, consisting of 16~ zealots 4 DT and 2 goons died to my terran force, and I lost 4 vultures all together.
Just as the rest of my terrans entered his choke, ANOTHER dropship entered my main and unloaded its cargo. At first I saw nothing, one second later, I see three blurs moved to raze some buildings. I wasn't really worried about this attack and just built a sci vessel.
Back at his choke, with vision to the uppergrounds, with my sci vessel, I managed to see two new cannons warped in and I blew them into rubble with my 6 sieged tanks. Zealots rushed down the ramp and tried to kill tanks, but the vultures stopped them.
At my main, my newly built sci vessel hopped out of the starport and I sent in the wraiths I had built earlier on. I had built 10 of them and I assaulted the DT that were razing random buildings. By the time they had all died, I had lost all my factories, two starports, all my turrets, my refinery, my ebay and my science facility.
Unfortunately, OhYe was in worse condition. His four gateways had fallen and his main tech was gone. It was then that I sent my wraiths to finish off his expansion and his main got completely annihilated by now.
Him, being the newbie that he is, was cowering off somewhere near the temple and I sent one of my wraiths scouting. Well, to my luck, the wraith found every single pylon built over the map, for OhYe had built scattered pylons all over the temple grounds to keep himself from dying. I also found another pylon (remember the one at the 6:00 mineral-only) and two rob facs being powered by it. Unfortunately for him, my wraiths destroyed every one.
He was annihilated, cursing and swearing at my gay tactics. But I didn't care. The game was over.

Lessons Learned -

Spend Your Money - I had about 6-7000 dollars left in the bank after the game, and I could have very well used it.

Never Give Up - It ain't over 'till it's over. If he was a bit better at controlling units and shit, he could have kicked my ass hard, but I wouldn’t have gave in that quickly.

Recon Is Key - Always make sure to scout. If I had known earlier he had mass zealot and DT I would have built wraiths much faster than that.

Containing Might Have Been Good – I could have contained him in his base with spider mines and taken the map, but I guess while you play the game, you don’t think as much.

Execute Your Tactics Well – Every time I attacked and failed was due to lack of unit control. If I had microed better, the game would’ve been over sooner. Also, I might’ve not lost any troops to his with good unit control. But in this game, I seemed to have microed better than usual, or maybe because the newbie had worse unit control than me.

UPGRADE – I didn’t have any upgrades the entire game, and if I had any it would have certainly made a difference because I noticed that as the game ended, he did not have any either.

The End:
Whew! This was one long report. I know it’s long, but if you sat through the whole thing, then you deserve a cookie. I also know it was hard to keep reading due to lack of paragraphing, sorry. But hey, now it’s over, and I can only wait for it to be rated. BTW, raters, give this a gold. :(

You can’t wait to read my next report can you? Neither can I.
