The next few days brought about much change. Now knowing this planet wasnt near as barren as he at first thought, Sabhur was quick to forge an alliance with his new found dark templar comrade.
The ravine proved to be filled with minerals scattered about and the desert before it had many hidden untapped vespene geysers as well. Without hesitation, Sabhur gave the orders to set up mining facilities all across the desert and ravine. Soon, in a matter of hours, hundreds of probes began harvesting the resource rich area and many gateways were set up to begin reinforcing the protoss troops.
To Zeltiors surprise, the terran force had barely touched the camp at all, except for the library. Five books, all articles of the last days of Reiwen, were stolen.
Although Zeltior swore vengeance, he soon realized the terran camp was extremely well defended and would take a very powerful force to break. Zeltior spent his time reading through the other articles of the blood clan instead as well as setting up a training facility to train rookie zealots into dark templar warriors.
Kelvena and Xaniir took the role as mediators between the dark templar and Sabhurs camp, knowing centuries of enmity would not be erased simply by a common foe. The two also investigated more into the commander of the terran base, soon realizing he was very unorthodox.
After weeks of intense study and training the four decided to meet in the lead nexus in the ravine, feeling it was finally time to take on the terran giant.
"Alright, first we must know how to approach this beast. Xaniir, Kelvena, thats where you come in, enlighten us to your findings." Sabhur said getting the meeting started.
"Well...his name is General Maxim, we know nothing more of his personality but we do know he has an affinity for metallic units." Xaniir said reading off the reports from the various spies sent into the terran camp.
"His camp lies approximatelly 100km to the east. He has a near impenitrable front consisting of 350 powerful seige tanks, thousands of spider mines, and 500 mobile suits known as goliaths. Perhaps the most interesting part is he has a small force of medics yet no mobile infantry what-so-ever, we have never seen such a force and do not know of its effectiveness." Kelvena continued reading off the reports of the many observers overhead of the terran base.
"I see...we must strike hard and fast with all of our might to conquer their range. I have amassed 1000 zealots, 500 dragoons, and Zeltior has trained 300 dark templar to achieve this. All that remains is Zeltior's report on the library findings." Sabhur said, assessing the situation.
"Well...most of these books had never been opened since the times of the blood clan, the information inside was fairly easy to understand though. They told of the aeon of strife and how the blood clan had nearly this entire planet conquered...All except for an odd mountain range. The most interesting part of these findings is where they state the mountains rest...we sent an observer to investigate that area and not even the smallest hill can be located for thousands of miles. I beleive the five books the terran force stole could explain this." Zeltior said scratching his head before continuing. "The books also state the that in those mountains, a group of non-protoss intelligent creatures have made their homes...they called the range of mountains 'mount zion'."
"For thus hath the Lord spoken unto me, like as the lion even the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the Lord of hosts come down to wage war for mount zion, and for the hill thereof..." Kelvena said interupting Zeltior.
Sabhur, Xaniir, and Zeltior all turned their heads to Kelvena as an ominious silence fell upon the meeting.
"I..I'm sorry...it was a voice in my head...I dont know where it came from..." Kelvena said breaking the silence.
"Then we will pass it off for now, prepare yourselves we will engage General Maxims force when night falls upon the valley." Sabhur said dismissing the meeting.
They all left and immediatelly began preparing for the war. Zeltior gathered together the dark templar while Xaniir and Kelvena gathered up the zealots and dragoons. Sabhur, being the military genious that he is, ordered them into a semi-circle formation around the terran camp to maximize their speed.
The protoss troops all stood their ground just one single kilometer from the tanks range. They all watched in solemn unison as the sky turned a bright orange signaling the arrival of nightfall.
Zeltior took a few small steps forward then turned and faced the mighty protoss army. Looking from face to face of the zealots and dark templar warriors he could see the apprehension in their eyes.
"Tonight...we shall bring down the giant! Now we attack!" Zeltior shouted at the top of his lungs.
By Sabhur's orders, the spider like dragoons charged forth first, blasting any mines they came across. Soon though a loud bang was heard and devistating tank fire filled the skies and came crashing down on the valiant dragoon warriors.
The zealots and dark templar immediatelly charged forward to backup the dwindling dragoon numbers as the dark night remained lit up as tank fire blasted through the protoss ranks.
Zeltior and Kelvena led the charge as even the might of the powerful arclite cannons could not hold back the might of the protoss warriors. Soon the dragoons were in range and let loose their mighty photon blasts tearing through the metallic shell of the seige tanks.
Xaniir summoned up all his psionic power and soon many seige tanks were crushed under the power of a mighty psionic storm. He remained in the back lines as zealots, dragoons, and dark templar alike were ripped to shreds by the tank fire.
Although the loses were devistating, the protoss warriors had nearly closed the gap when hundreds of goliaths reinforced the powerful seige tanks. Soon the supressing fire of the goliaths dual gatling guns made any more progress for the zealots and dark templar nearly impossible.
The dragoons, on the other hand, continued sending wave after wave of photon blasts into the hulls of goliaths and tanks, blasting them to oblivion. But without the support of the dark templar and zealots, things began looking bleak for the dragoons as well.
The vehemence of the protoss warriors would not be denied though, and finally the zealots and dark templar were in range to begin hacking at the goliaths and the tide finally began to turn. As the tank blasts began blowing both goliaths and tanks along with zealots and dark templar to shreds.
Zeltior, in a great howl, drove his warp blade deep in the shell of the goliath in front of him. The goliaths were quickly becoming submerged as Kelvena and Zeltior led the protoss melee force through the heart of the goliath defense and on to the tanks.
Suddenly, without warning, thousands of vulture speed bikes zoomed past the protoss melee troops laying spider mines in the confusion. Zeltior cast a questioning glance to Kelvena as the mines submerged into the ground.
Closing his eyes tightly, Zeltior realized what was about to happen. The sight of thousands of mines resurfacing around the protoss troops was too much for the dark templar warrior to want to witness. The tiny mines skampered over to the protoss troops and finally released their potent charges blasting hundreds of protoss warriors to peices.
Horrified, Xaniir drained his psionic energy casting hundreds of hallucinations and sounded the retreat just as hundreds of reinforcing seige tanks began firing on the hallucinated warriors.
Kelvena and Zeltior both waved for what was left of the protoss melee force to retreat back to the ravine leaving their fallen comrades behind in a gory pool of blood.
The trip back was horrific, many protoss warriors were critically injured and their torchered screams filled the air. Through pity, Xaniir allowed any protoss warrior who could not be cured to be killed, to end their suffering.
Upon arriving back in the bustling protoss camp at the ravine, the few protoss warriors left alive were very quick to notice a single seige tank parked near the lead nexus. Without delay Xaniir, Kelvena, and Zeltior headed straight for the lead nexus as the other protoss warriors were given time to rest.
The three quickly darted through the plethora of narrow hallways that makes up the nexus before finally reaching Sabhurs office. They slowly opened the door and to their surprise, there stood a single terran man who looked to be in his early 20's casually talking with the executor.
"Sir..?" Kelvena said curiously looking at the terran man.
"Yes...Xaniir, Kelvena, and Zeltior...I am truely sorry for the defeat. But hope has arrived under the guise of an enemy. I would like to introduce you to commander James Bishop, leader of the 5th division tank squad below general Maxim. He shares our animosity towards our terran neighbors." Sabhur said addressing the newcomer.
"Hello and very pleased to meet y'all. Y'all showed pretty damned big grapefruits to attack us head on and ya damn near took us out. But I'm afraid to say ya wont topple this giant by striking its chest." James said to the three still shocked protoss warriors.
"I see...perhaps you would suggest a better strategy?" Zeltior said having already conquered his shock.
"But of course, why I'm here after all. See general Maxim is a brilliant and efficiant military tactician but like all people, he's got a himself a small lil' weakness. Thats where you come in lil' lady." James said, turning his head to Kelvena. "The poor guy is a pervert, he has a small harem of ladies dressed as medics for his pleasure...and you are quite the looker after all sugar pie."
"Whoa whoa whoa...hold on here..." Kelvena said already seeing where this conversation is going.
"Relax sweet heart! I wont let him touch ya...too much." James said with a wink before continuing. "See he has the books yer lookin' for in his personal chamber, all we have to do is disguise ya as a medic and you'll be up in his chamber in no time!"
"Yeah...am I to assassinate him?" Kelvena said unclear on the objectives.
"Naw! not unless you want the whole terran army crashing into yer lil' place of residence here. See I'm gonna place this here lil' wire on yer cute chest there, when yer in his chamber all ya gotta do is tap it three times, when I hear them taps I'll cause a tiny lil' explosion down by them factories, this should draw the perverts attention long enough for you to stick this hear needle in his neck. Injecting this into him will knock him out for hours, all ya gotta do is take what ya want and git out. Wham bam boom simple as that sugar pie." James said pointing out the various equipment.
"Will we able to communicate during the mission?" Kelvena said still apprehensive about the mission.
"Sure thing lil' lady! You and Xaniir will be able to communicate perfectly through telepathy!" James said cheerfully.
"Explain yourself terran!" Xaniir said in a thunderous tone.
"You dont seriously think I want to get my hands dirty helping you guys do you? Yer gonna cause the explosion and yer gonna communicate with this cute lady while shes gettin' the books." James said confidently.
"I see...then we have no other choice, I'm willing to do it...please Xaniir?" Kelvena said having made up her mind.
"...Yes, it is the only way, be warned though terran, should you backstab us you will be the first I kill." Xaniir said in a very hostile tone to James.
"Then we're set! Dont worry boys and girls, this will be easy as cheese!" James said, completly ignoring Xaniir's threats.
Sabhur sat quietly as James, Kelvena, and Xaniir departed. He then turned to Zeltior and smiled.
"Quite an odd turn of events dont you agree?" Sabhur said to Zeltior.
"Yes...indeed it is, very fortunate though. I pray for their safety." Zeltior said bowing his head slightly.
"As do I, the hybrid will not have the protection of her angels for this mission. Now we will see just how strong she has become." Sabhur quietly said deep in thought.
In a matter of just a couple hours, Xaniir and James had already arrived in the bowels of one of the larger factories. The smell of the exhaust from the war engines was putrid but they remained there silently as they awaited the signal from Kelvena.
Kelvena had already been clothed in the extravagent medic armor and was soon being led through the various rooms and corridors of the rather dimly lit command center up to the generals headquarters. She looked around in awe as the staff of the command center worked like mindless drones keeping the terran war engine alive.
Soon her escort stopped her in front of a door on the 22nd floor. Swallowing hard she realized this was general Maxims chamber.
With all the confidence she could muster she swiftly opened the door and greated the general with a very perky "Good evening sir!"
"Ahhh...they picked an especially ripe peach for me tonight..." General Maxim said standing up out of his chair and walking over to Kelvena.
Kelvena stared down the 60+ year old man, quickly noticing all of his features. An especially tall man, he had an air of confidence around him and though his grey hair and wrinkled face would say otherwise, he looked to be a very tough man as well.
"Now...my lil peach...how about we peel you out of these burdensome clothes." General Maxim said reaching his hand underneath Kelvena's medic uniform and running his finger tips along her stomache.
Kelvena, sickened by the audacity of this man, immediatly reached up to tap the wire on her chest when general Maxim interupted her.
"No...no let me get this for you peach." General Maxim said sliding a single hand down the front of Kelvena's medic shirt so very close to the wire.
"No! I mean...no sir, I need you to help me take something else off." Kelvena said bending over seductivelly while running her finger tips across her hips.
"Thats what I like to hear peach, we are going to have quite a night tonight." General Maxim said slowly inching around behind Kelvena never letting his hand off her body.
Kelvena, proud of her own quick thinking, quickly tapped the wire three times unable to handle the generals wrinkled hands on her body any longer.
James looked up with a bright face and quickly let out a "Blast this baby!" to Xaniir.
Xaniir concentrated a small amount of psionic force, releasing it inside the factory. Shrapnel was sent flying as the explosion errupted, Xaniir and James hid behind a large metal crate to avoid being caught in the blast.
General Maxim let out a frustrated bark and ran over to the window peering out where the explosion occured.
"Useless! Idiots! Morons! I gave them orders not to cause any ruckus at this time of night!" General Maxim said letting out some frustration.
"Relax sir, let me give you a nice neck massage..." Kelvena said walking over to the general, hiding the syringe in the right hand cuff of her medic shirt.
With a sigh the general sat down and exposed his neck for the massage. Kelvena smiled as she approached the general. She started lightly rubbing his shoulders while stealthily drawing the syringe out with her right hand. With no hesitation at all, she stuck the syringe in the generals neck and released the fluid. Before the general had a chance to react he was unconscious.
"Alright...he's out like a light, ask James where I might be able to find the books," Kelvena said to Xaniir through telepathy.
Kelvena waited for half a minute before Xaniir finally returned with the answer, "Check the bottom drawer on the right side of his desk young one, and congradulations on a job well done."
With that, Kelvena quickly opened the bottom drawer and to her delight, there rested the five books that were stolen from the dark templar camp. Kelvena quickly stashed them in her medic outfit and exited the chamber.
As expected, the hallway was empty due to the explosion. Kelvena happily retraced her steps casually waving to any passerby she might see. But suddenly something had attracted her attention.
'Laboratory A' read the sign to a very secure door. Kelvena knew she had what she wanted and should just leave but something inside her told her what she sought would be found beyond those doors.
"Xaniir...the voices are too strong...I must check something out wait for me back at the base..." Kelvena said through telepathy to her protoss comrade.
"What?! Thats nonsense! We have what we want let us take our leave now!" Xaniir said pleading with Kelvena.
"I am sorry...thank James for me for leading me here..." Kelvena said shutting her mind out to any more telepathic messages.
Xaniir looked over to james sadly and without a word, the two left the terran base inside a vulture and headed back to the ravine.
