This is a game I loved. A day when I had decided to go out and win a ladder game, was the day I played one my best games with Zerg. It was set on Lost Temple. I was orange, and had the top base. My opponent was also Zerg. White, bottom base.

When I started off, I did the usual. Made five drones on top of my four, and then made an Overlord. At 200 minerals, I was set for a Spawning Pool. I decided to I was going to rush the little punk. I had scouted and found where he lay, and I was ready to attack with a couple Zerglings. I always like having gas early on, unlike many other Zerg players, so by the time I had my first lings, I was already gathering my gas.

I attacked white with about twenty lings, destroying his hatchery he had expanded to the right of his base with, but when I got to his main base, he surprised me. Hydralisks (around eight) and a couple lings supported with a sunken colony were there to protect him. He attacked me after my attack with what he had left. Two hydras and two lings. I laughed at his wimp ass attempt. I had three sunkens, and around fifteen lings. His "army" went down fast.

Lucky for me, I had upgraded my main hatchery to a Lair, and had an expansion to the right. I had the opening to go for an efficient mutalisk rush, and that's the direction I chose.

After getting my expansion three sunkens and around a dozen or so starter drones (that's what I call the original few drones to an expansion), I started my Spire. I also got a Hydralisk Den going, just incase, but right after it and the Spire finished, he attacked with a dozen or so hydralisks. Luckily unupgraded, because my sunkens were set up so he could get around them, and get to my den. He took out the den before I could stop him. After the dust cleared, I made sure that wouldn't happen again by setting up another den, same spot, and two sunkens next to it.

I had a tiny attack force consisting of eight zerglings, and three hydralisks that I sent to attack his base with, but he intercepted them all with around thirty lings, and killed my tiny force. After he got my guys, he tried the same thing before when he destroyed my den, but this time he got a little surprise of sunkens and couple mutalisks (the others were out scouting for expansions of white's). After that attack, I got serious. I made two more hatcheries (I only had two at the current time)(yes, stupid me).

This guy was ruthless. Shortly after came another attack. He found an opening in my expansion, and dropped ten hydras with +1 to weapons upgrade right on my drones. Luckily I had seen the drop coming, and had already started moving my drones to safety. My sunkens and a few lings made quick work of the hydras, but it slowed my mining down considerably. Yet again, lesson learned. I built a few spore colonies near the hatchery to protect from future drops. I expanded to the top left island area so I could get more gas, because I was running low.

By now I had eight mutas with +2 to weapons upgrade. I made ten more mutas. I had found an expansion of his to the upper left of his main base earlier, so that was where I was going to strike. I sent my eighteen muta task force in without hesitation. White was just getting ready for another drop on my base. He had four ovies full of hydras. The unloading time gave me a brief second to do some damage, but not much. Three spore colonies and an extractor went down before my mutas were ripped apart, and this guy was still loaded with hydras.

White immediately loaded up five ovies with hydras, and sent them all to my island expansion, which was being defended by one spore colony and drones. Bye Bye expansion. All the while I'm pumping out mutas at my main base, had made a Queen's Nest, and was upgrading my Lair to a Hive. I also had +1 to air armor upgrade. My expansion was gone, all his hydras where over there, and I had eighteen mutas again. I figured it was do or die time. I attacked his upper left expansion in force. At that time he said "Aww fuck". I responded "To drop, or not to drop, that is the question". In my base I had a few hydras and around fourty or so lings, but I also had defense.

I was by then getting a Greater Spire from my regular Spire, so Guardians could maybe have a play in this. Then white surprised me. His expansion was gone, so he dropped on me. His full force of hydras. My buildings got in the way so my lings couldn't attack well (his hydras ripped through them), and my hydras were defeated almost as quickly, but I did get his force down to around half it's original size. I quickly desposed of the rest by creating more of my own hydras, and down where his expansion was, I had five guardians almost completed. Then white tried attacking my air force with a mass of hydras. My guardians and mutas ripped through them like it was a wet napkin.

For my finishing move I moved in with my five guardians and seven mutas into his undefended main base. My foe was defeated.
