All text, no HTML, etc. This is about a game I played a long time ago but can remember clearly. I was toss and my opponent was Zerg. I went all out protoss ground as usual but neither of us attacked until very late in the game. I had an arbiter or 2 sitting around so I made one go the Zerg encampment and recalled some goons. The attack was a huge failure. Only so many drags can go through the warp thingy in a single recall. I lost some goons and an arbiter and he lost pretty much nothing. So I began to rebuild my army. Pretty soon I hit the supply Max and all I had were drags, templar, (of both kinds) and zlots. Now, I had expanded sometime during all this (I can't remember when) to the NW starting place.
My main bas suddenly got hit with guardians and devourers. My zlots and DTs were useless obviously, and the guardian’s range was the key factor in this battle. I did manage to get some good storms off but they only killed so many. Because I had hit my psi limit sometime before, I had a lot of spare cash. About 10,000 min. and 7,000 something gas. I knew my main base was done for so I turned my attention to the expansion. I knew only 1 thing could stand up the Zerg air force. Carriers! Yes, I know what you’re thinking. Carriers suck. They aren’t cost effective. They’re slow. However, they are the unit of choice when you’ve get nothing to lose, time, and 10,000 and 7,000 gas sitting in the bank. So I began building lots of stargates (I had a total of 7 or 8 I believe) and a fleet beacon. Immediately after the fleet beacon finished I begin researching the interceptor upgrades. I also built 4 cybernetics cores. (I didn’t know you could only upgrade out of 2). My enemy was taking his sweet time in destroying my main. By the time he had finished, I had quite a few carriers. I put all my carriers in the corner so he wouldn’t see until he was too late. Then lone guardian slowly began wearing down the shields of one of my buildings. In my haste, and stupidity, I send a whole control group of carriers to destroy the annoyance. After I killed it, I realized my mistake. Crap, I thought. Now he knows I’m going carriers. His main is probably full of spore colonies and scourge right now. So I desperately send all my carriers, (about 20 or so) to his main. Woohoo! Only 2 spore colonies. It was pretty awesome watching his building’s fall to 20 carriers. Such a shame I don’t know how to do screenshots. He sends all his devs over to my carriers, but I had about the same number of carriers as he did devourers. After the battle, I still 10 carriers left. Then my opponent promptly left the game.
