Reach Out and Touch Someone, with Arclite!
The setting:
ED Guan Yu Protoss vs YourRoleModel Terran
Cross the Line - I started at 11 and he was at 5, on separate cliffs.
Banter:
Ed (before the game) - I usually play regular Starcraft but I know the tricks.
Ed (during the game) - F-ck.
Ed - I hate broodwar.
Me - I have not used broodwar units on you yet.
Ed - So?
Me - How is it broodwar?
Ed - It just is.
Early Game:
After discovering that Ed was not on my cliff with my 7th SCV, I built for drop defense and prepared for a cliff drop on him. Gas was flowing early, leading to a factory and two starports. A bunker, 4 towers, 2 tanks and some firebats with medics were my drop defense.
Mid Game:
The drop came in the form of 3 shuttles full of dark templar. One shuttled died, and my tight base with detection took out the rest before they did much more than surface damage.
There is a cliff next to his main that I sent 2 marines, a medic, an SCV and a tank to. I started on towers and went back for another tank, setting up the screenshot Attacking his Main.
I discovered that he had expanded to the other starting location on his cliff. You can hit that cliff from my starting point with seige tanks and comstat. I also dropped another tank in the valley north of his expansion. It turns out that Bob the marine from my last battle report wasn't dead, just wounded, and he was put back together to pilot this tank, unfortunately, a darktemplar drop tragically cut short his career again. My next drop was protected from this by a few towers and wraiths. See Attacking his Expansion.
End Game
About this time, he hit my attack on his main with carriers. My towers, all six of them, plus the marines, were actually reducing his interceptors when I hit him with 5 cloaked wraiths from one of the two expansions that I put up just after setting up my drops. I had science vessels and wraiths coming from 3 starports now.
He cursed me alot and finally gave up after I comstated his base to take pictures, it was full of useless dark templar and some flying ducks. Sure, he was not great, but feel free to use this report to help disprove that a protoss player with a few tricks can beat a average terran player. He did have an attack that would have wasted an unprepared main, but my siege tanks won the day.
By the way, Bob survived again, but barely, and wants to thank the wraith, marine and scv support that he recieved under my command.
