| Challenger - Good comeback (Starcraft) | | | Author: | | | IP: | cvg-65-2XXXX | | Date: | 07/22/02 10:07 | | Game Type: | Starcraft | | Labels: | none | | Report Rating: , # of Ratings: 1, Max: 2, Min: 2 Lifetime Rating for AlienSpoon: 2.0000 | | This is my first battle report and I don't expect it to be perfect, and I won't have any pictures because I am too cheap to buy a photo thingy studio whatnot.
The game started on the map challenger, a good 1v1 map. On this map it has 2 starting points, one in the north, and one in the south. I was placed as blue Protoss in the north, and my enemy, white Protoss, in the south.
This report will be one-sided, as I forgot to save the damn replay. I told my enemy to meet in channel comeback, but, he didn't. I thought he stayed in the game, as I couldn't recreate it (And you are probably thinking 'Why didn't you just whisper him you dumb shit!?' Well, I forgot his name.). I went through the channels of starcraft 1-11 but I didn't find him. I tried to recreate the game, but, he didn't come (Go figure.). So, I am without a replay, and with only memories of this great game. If you were there, you would see how truly great this game was. Now, onto the battle report!!
Early game (How did you guess?) -
As I said I am in the north, and my enemy in the south. I started by making a probe and sending the rest - one by one - to the minerals to mine. I assume that my enemy did the same. I kept creating probes until I got to a comfortable number of 8 probes and then decided to make a pylon (Once again, go figure.). After that pylon was done (Another probe was created) I went off to make a gateway. I continued to make probes throughout the whole game, one by one, so no need to say that I made a probe every 5 seconds. ^_^
After the first gateway was halfway through, I made another. Then, just as the first completed, and with 200 minerals in my "sack", I created a pylon and a zealot (The other gateway is about 2/3 done.). As soon as my first zealot came out, it was time to scout!!
I sent little Zachary the Zealot onto a long trip down into the enemy’s base. I kept pumping men out of my gateway just as the other finished, and started to pump some from it.
Also, at that time, as Zach was making his way down to the enemy's base, I constructed 2 forges and an assimilator (Or however it is spelled.). I was going to go for the upgrades rather quickly in this game, to give me a quick advantage over my enemy.
Little Zach found the enemy's base, and was startled at what he saw, 3 zealots!! His commander only had 1, Zach. Zach quickly ran back to base to meet up with the soon coming zealots, but alas, he was being followed... (Guess who?)
As soon as Zach and his followers reached the base, a small battle commenced. (Back to first person) I had 2 zealots and a 3rd one being created. The zealots looked kinda like this in the battle.

My new Zealot on the right side popped out just as the warrior of Auir on the right fell (Poor Zachary...). I ordedered my zealot that had just been created to attack the left most enemy, currently one on one with my other Zealot. The other 2 enemy Zealots came to his aid, but a little too late. He had fallen, but weakened the front Zealot considerably. The other two enemy Zealots on the right side quickly downed my damaged units, and moved on to the gateways (Which were currently making units.). The enemy had sent reinforcements (Consisting of 2 Zealots and 3 Dragoons) just as I decided to make cannons behind my pylons (3 cannons.). The enemy was either too busy doing something at his base or just didn't look quick enough, as my 3 cannons finished, and so did 3 Zealots. The Zealots died a honorable death, killing 4 Zealots (My upgrades at this time were
1/0/1, so that gave me the advantage in the battle.). The enemys forces died against my 3 cannons, and I quickly trained 3 more Zealots and built 2 more cannons, along with a Stargate, and 4 more Pylons. I also continued to upgrade, which helped me greatly in this game.
My resorces were running low at the time, and the suffering echconmy was a loss to my troops efforts. I sent a lone probe to the left expansion on the map, and created a Nexus and 2 Pylons. Here is what the map looked like (Yes, another small, crappy, home made map. But, it has helped me explain what was going on and I hope it helps you.).

Wow, that was time consumming and probably not even worth the effort...as most of you probably won't be able to "read" it, but, I do believe if you do carefully look at it you will be able to.
Mid game -
Now, like I was saying, I took the expansion to the left of my base (North). I built, as seen above, a Nexus, 2 pylons, and 3 cannons. By this time my enemy really thought about dropping reavers - far to late in the game to do it on my main - and made a Robotics Facility, and a Robotics Support Bay. He passed right over my expansion and saw the whole thing, and was safely out of the cannons reach as soon as they completed. Boy that was really gonna help me in the future.
Then, he landed. He destroyed most of my probes (Poor guys, but, 4 were left and I had already sent some to the expansion so only half was lost, but still...) and took out 3 of my 5 cannons. I sent all avalable Zealots to vanguish the threat, but, they were blown to utter oblivion, so...I resorted to making a scout.
By this time my partner was too consentrated on the battle and not enough on his base, he was not pumping from the looks at late game. He had also built a kinda save haven, next to by base, consisting of a pylon, and 5 cannons, but, I didn't know it at the time.
My scout had finished and I went on attacking the raevers. It seemed that the enemy was finally looking at his base, when the "Your forces have engaged the enemy." appeared on his screen. Acting "quickly", he pulled them into the dropship and flew off to my expansion. Thinking back, I should have destroyed that dropship before the revers, but, too late now. ^_^ His reavers just barily made it as the scout turned the shuttle into pretty blue fireworks.
Mid-Late game -
Seeing it as my only chance, I quickly rushed the 4 probes from my main to the bottem right expansion, slipping past his 'haven" and built a Nexus, and a pylon. My main and expansion had not yet been destroyed, but, the expansion was in pieces, with no probes, and no Nexus (Only the 2 Pylons and 3 Photon Cannons remained.). My last hope was ridding on the shoulders of my bottem right expansion and it's 4 probes. As soon as the Pylon was complete I build a Gateway, and built one Zealot to protect it (These days the protoss are so low on security...). The rest of the minerals went to protecting my main, so I could remain concealed until the end of the game, but, more on that at the end of the game (Wow, how did you guess that one?).
It seemed at though the enemy was building reinforcements for a attack on my main, which would soon be sumthered by my upgraded pure Zealots, now at upgrades 1/2/1.
As it was said, a attack comminced. I had my Zealots located by my gateways. (The Stargate was built right next to all of my gateways.). I chased them out with my 8 Zealots or so, and they ran right into the cannons. The cannons took out 2 of my Zealots, leaving me with 6 of them. I decided to get the enemys attention, I would carge the cannons. I was hopping he would attack me, buying me the time to mirco a Zealot in and out, letting them come to my cannons.

The attack on the cannons was unsucsessful, and I ended up making Zealots to the far left gateway, and rallying them behind the pylons. The enemy attacked my first Stargate with 2 Ddragoons. Still creating Zealots, I decided that I could probably take out the weak dragoon on the right. I went for it, but, like the baby he was, moved back to the save area. I went back to the cannons, not wanting my precious Zealots to be destroyed, and once again, the Dragoons attacked the Stargate, this time accompied by 2 Zealots to protect them. I, now having 4 Zealots, ran into battle. The enemy thought he had the upper hand thanks to the Dragoons, but I had the superior upgrades, and soon vanguished his small troop.
I now thought it was time to stop making Zealots at the top of the map, and now started making them at my bottem right expansion. I also constructed 2 more Gateways and several more pylons, along with a Forge. My force was growing bigger, and with that, I became bolder in my actions aginst my enemy, mainly...well, I'll tell you in the late game, when I actually do it.
My enemy now harnest 3 Gateways and 2 Stargates, along with the Robotics and Support bay
