Welcome to a FearTheFrog report! (No affiliation with the Frog clan.) Figured I'd make one of my own since I read so many of these things. Warning! This is not a fanfic, so all you fanfic posters go to away stop spamming this site with your stories theres other sites for that thanx gl hf gg. For the intro: myself, FearTheFrog at 9 o'clock position on a map known as Frostsabre. My opponent, ALT, scored the 6 o'clock position. For those of you who do not know this map, Frostsabre is a four "cornered" map, though the corners are actually the center of each side surrounded by a half-moon of forest.
Now to begin. FearTheFrog begins by sending his 3 acolytes to his gold mine and his single ghoul to forest while requesting a fourth acolyte to be built. One is pulled from mining (is that what they're doing? They just sort of absorb it...) anyway the mindless servant warps in a gateway, pylon... no wait... make that a crypt, a ziggurat, and an altar before scurrying back to his mining. ALT in the meantime purchases 3 peons and sends one of his beginning four to forest while the others dive into the mine. "Ready to work" rings out and off goes the peon to build a barracks. His second builds an orc burrow (equivalent of the undead's ziggurat) and his third builds an altar.
FearTheFrog builds a graveyard and pumps ghouls like mad while investing in a DeathKnight for his hero. ALT chooses the ever-popular Far Seer and begins pumping grunts (big surprise) to be ready for his hero to pop out. The DK pops out a full 30 seconds before the Far Seer does and immediately begins to creep with 3 ghouls. Oh yea his name wins this by default- he is Lord SoulRender- now who wouldn't want to have that name?! The Far Seer has the sucky name of Fenris'ar Gul which I can't really respect. At any rate the Far Seer grabs his two friends by the name of Grunt A and Grunt B and runs them bearing northeast and attempts a rush I suppose because he walked right past the creeps... and found no one at the 3 o'clock location.
His base was not idle, however, because by the time he got back he had 2 more grunts waiting for him. That makes 4 grunts now for you math majors.
FearTheFrog also has not been idle, and went creeping with now 4 ghouls with 4 more clawing wood near the graveyard. ALT now works his way to the 9 o'clock position, and barely misses a confrontation with Lord SoulRender's hunting party. I'll let the pictures explain the impending fight, but after a 5th grunt rallies to the scene and the other four ghouls are grouped for battle instead of clawing wood, the two sides clash.
Two small retreats are made by both sides (keep in mind neither side has lost a unit yet), and ALT makes a third push onto the undead's blight, chasing after a spider which just spawned near the necropolis. FearTheFrog micros his ghouls around back of the grunts, and as you can see, they are now trapped with towers firing from behind. One dies, and ALT Town Portals the remainder of his men to the saftey of his orc encampment.
Not wanting to lose the advantage, FearTheFrog takes his 7 ghouls and runs forward to seek out the orc base. Seeing as how the orcs attacked from the southeast, that is the direction first explored. FearTheFrog finds ALT creeping (finally) and runs slightly past to trap him in the forest.
This is unsuccessful, so instead he focus-fires the ghouls on the enemy Far Seer.
The Far Seer dies, and an all-out melee battle ensues. (Scary!)
Lord SoulReaver has full health, but is down to two support ghouls. Fenris'ar Gul has now 4 grunts (1 almost dead, 1 at full health). FearTheFrog rallies three more ghouls and swings back into action but fails to do one important thing: watch the battle instead of teching at home... as a result, the DeathKnight is surrounded and dies a horrible DeathKnight... death? Wait I thought he was already dead... anyway look for yourselves. But wait! The battle isn't over yet so stop thinking of negative comments to give me... The FarSeer is also very much weakened! The ghouls scramble after a retreating FarSeer and manage to slit his throat... or wolf's throat... either way... yea so both heroes level, bringing the DK to 3 and the FS to 2. 4 ghouls remain as do 4 grunts.
Ok I mentioned teching at home... a temple of the damned was started and is now half finished at the end of the battle. ALT has yet to tech past his one lumbermill, one barracks, one altar of storms, and three orc burrows. Oh wait... whats this? A spirit lodge! He must be going for the o-so-annoying BloodLust upgrade! (shudder). Well I suppose if the undead has unholy frenzy (wonderous 75% increase in attack speed but does 4 damage per second... nifty how vampiric aura can be paired with that... but hey this battle involves a DK not a DL...) HOWEVER FearTheFrog does not want unholy frenzy, its tough to micro against an autocasted BL... so instead researches the skeleton longevity (increases their length of life... er ... death... er... nevermind) but before he can so much as get his DeathKnight back on his feet, ALT comes knocking at his door with 5 grunts and a newly ressurected hero. He wanders onto the blight but realizes that 5 grunts and a FS are worthless against 4 spirit towers (yaaay for towers) and retreats... temporarily. ALT completes his fortress upgrade, and FearTheFrog is pumping necros, and takes his small force of five ghouls, a level 3 DeathKnight, and a spidie to fight the two level 6 golems at a nearby goldmine.
He finds... ::gasp!:: a Tome of Greater Experience, and a Manual of Health. Yaay! ALT on the other hand comes across the sleeping ogre camp near his main and thinks twice about it... running away instead of fighting them.
He then runs north, looking for some easy creeps, and instead finds two level 6 rock golems of his own! His now-7 grunt force should now be able to do some damage... but no they retreat... again.
Wait! He turns and casts wolves, sending his army into battle with the collossus golems. FearTheFrog has just regrouped, and went to scout the orc town since two necros had completed training and the Tome set him almost to level 5... an empty orc base is a happy orc base... Lord SoulReaver ran straight for the peon line but unfortunately for him a watchtower completed training at about the same time his troops ran home from the short creeping expedition (never did manage to kill either level 6 golem). The only thing accomplished by this hit and run (because thats all that it turned out to be) was all the peons mining gold had been successfully killed.
With all said and done ALT had 6 grunts left (two almost dead) and FearTheFrog had run out the back door all by himself to maynard with... whats this? BleaKill the level 1 DreadLord? Yes! FearTheFrog was tired of chain lightning and got himself a sleep-casting DL... excellent...oh yea and he also expanded to the goldmine he had cleared previous...
ALT, not wasting any time, gathers his newly built catapult and two shaman and tries another frontal assault supported by only 6 grunts. Well, this pays off... drawing the undead forces into battle OFF THE BLIGHT adkjflsjfdf sucks for him. And so the DreadLord ends up getting slaughtered (level 1, remember) and the DeathKnight almost dies himself. He does manage to take out the Far Seer, however, and after a few hit and run death coils (wee micromanagement at its best) he takes out the shaman. Skeletons swarm the catapult, and the attack is stemmed for now.
Ghouls are remade, necros resummoned, and zigs are fixed by acolyte magic (damn those shifty acolytes). The DreadLord has been ressurected, and a small hunting party departs from the undead lair. Here it seems ALT will not give up, and sends all his available troops (2 shaman, 2 grunts, his Far Seer, and a catapult) to strike again. This is repelled by FearTheFrog's superior forces (spidie, two necros, four ghouls, a DreadLord (level 1) and a DeathKnight (level 5) BUT WAIT... Love that phrase. Somehow those two nasty golems from before actually had the nerve to follow the undead troops to the battle... and proceed to attack them from behind while the orcs attacked from the front... eww...
Both sides retreat with heavy losses... but there is a major change starting to develop. FearTheFrog seems to have TWO gold mines, TWO crypts, a necro temple thingie, TWO heroes, and level TWO upgrades for melee. ALT only has 1 barracks, 1/1 melee upgrades, and 1 shaman tower thingie... i smell an advantage coming on...
FearTheFrog starts a third crypt, and alas, its time to counter again. Only... halfway to the orc encampment... what the hell is that?
A late-game 2nd hero? GAY and no worse than a Tauren Chieftan which would have been good at the beginning with stomp... but this forces a retreat, since both undead heroes are near death. Time for some quick regeneration on the wonderous blight. Ten seconds later the DeathKnight is somewhat healed, and grabs some ghouls and necros and heads out to creep... or at least try to... again. Tier 3 has been hit, and what better upgrade to get than ghoul frenzy. This FLABtastic upgrade allows an increase in ghoul movement and attack. Revenge must be sought on those two golems from before. They are taken down and reep a Tome of Knowledge as well as a Tome of Experience. These both go to the DreadLord, as the DeathKnight is already level 6 (researched Ressurection... awesome ultimate spell that allows the hero to bring back the 6 strongest units that have died -assuming their skeletons are nearby- to fight temporarily for the undead.) An unsuspecting peon wanders onto the scene only to be slaughered by the mighty undead, but not before warning the encampment of the undead's encroachment.
All orc units are rallied as are all undead for this epic final battle in which... the orc Town Portals out of. WTF?? I wanted to use Ressurect damn you. Just die like a good sport. Hey whats this Lord SoulReaver has 312 mana... thats... yes! enough for Ressurect!! Hell yes my life is complete.
Oh wait... two seconds after using the ultimate... he quit.
Oh well another thankless victory for the undead scourge. Not so much as a GG GL HF. Hope you enjoyed. Oh and don't flame me for the blurry text on the pics, it wont happen again... somehow happened when I switched from .bmp format to .jpg format to upload and i'm too lazy to do it again.
