Well, I've returned from my long absence from the br.com community, and with a battlereport too! I know my other one sucked, and was a pathetic attempt. But this one will be half-way decent...I hope. Friends from school, such as Endersshadow, have inspired me to write again. It's not your normal Starcraft, Warcraft or even an RTS battlereport but a side scroller from SNES. I decided to fire up the old system (heh they'll never know its an emulator) and play some MegaMan X3.
I remember so many great hours just playing through Megaman X when I was a young lass... err lad. I always got up to Sigma and was never able to beat him, until I grew older and my skills advanced. For those of you who have never played a Megaman game, I'll give you a basic run-down.
In the game, you play as Megaman, an android. He has one hand and the other a gun, called the X buster. As he defeats bosses (other evil androids) he gains their powers, which usually consist of one of their special attacks. These attacks only have a limited about of energy, unlike the X buster. Shots may be charged to increase in power. In the begining of the game, you have a very small life bar, and no replacement energy tanks. But as the game goes on you may collect hearts that increase your life capacity, and sub tanks that can store excess energy. Your main goal is to destroy the evil androids that are under the control of Sigma, and eventually get around to killing him.
Characters
Megaman: The hero of Megaman X3. He always seems to restart each game with no power ups and the crappiest amount of life ever. Called the blue bomber or Rockman, can shoot things of energy and jump gaps of nothingness in a single bound. Pretty awesome guy.
Zero: The brother-like figure to Megaman. He's about 100x more badass and complete with about three more charge levels too. He has long blonde hair that makes some people mistake him for a pansy, but he is a "the ownage" He can use a saber that kills most enemies in one hit, and fire 2 of Megaman's charge shots when fully powered up. The only downfall is that he cant use other weapons, and usually dies =[.
Sigma: The main bad guy in Megaman X games. He always seems to stay alive, like in most games with ridiculous amount of sequals. Its always "OH I lived because I had one cell left crap" He's pretty cool, and in X1 he featured a light saber. Suprised George Lucas didn't sue Capcom. He can be pretty 'cheap' with his attacks. One sick dude. I mean just look at the picture below. He has a red gem implanted into his head, paint over his eyes, and a mean grimmace.
I selected Game Start, and gazed at the opening scene. These robotic giant bees were flying across a city scape at dusk. They fired energy balls as they flew. All of a sudden Megaman and Zero jump onto the bee. Megaman proceeds to unload a couple bullets into its hull and Zero finishes it off with a quick swipe of his green energy saber. Zero informs me that they're only a few remaining robots, and to clear the city of them. Then he teleports away and the screen flashes ready.
I walk into the building complex, and see a robot enemy right at the start. I discharge a few quick shots into him, making him explode with little resistance. I jump onto the next ledge, and dash forward, close to the another enemy. He fires a few bombs but is quickly dispatched by my shots. I walk forward an approach a ladder, with an enemy attached to the wall. He charges some purple lightning like material, and fires at me. I get hit, and my body fills with purple lightning. Once recovered he is blown up to my blaster. I climb down the ladder slowly while looking around. I see another wall hugging enemy. I blow him up, and jump down to the platform below, destroying another enemy. I keep progressing forward, disposing of robots as they appear. I walk into an open room, with broken windows in the background. X speaks.
"Hey, where have you been Mac?" It seems that they are quite friendly.
Mac Attacks!
Mac quickly charges and fires a ball of energy at me, trapping me in a prison of electricty. He exclaims that now that he has joined 'doppler', and that I was stupid to trust him. How pleasent. Another robot carries me off, and Mac teleports away. The ceiling begins to crumble, and Zero falls out of the sky.
Why Zero is t3h 1337, j00
Sweet now I can control Zero. I dash forward, and am in awe at his beautiful sleek body gracefully moving forward. I mean I'm going to fight evil and kill some fuckers, right? The first thing I do is charge up fully, so his body glows with a pale green light. I walk up to the nearest enemy, and unload two charged shots into him. The next enemy dies swiftly to a quick slash of my green blade. What a nice fiery explosion. I continue in deeper into the level, and kill enemies as I see them. I walk to a wall, and seem to be stuck. Then a gigantic ball covered in spikes falls near me, just missing my body. I decide to wall kick up, and when I reach the top I kill the robot that was dropping those balls on me. What an unconsiderate bastard, I hope it hurt him when he died. Oh wait hes a robot... Never the less, I still travel on. I approach a door, open it, and it shuts behind me. X is trapped in his prison suspended above the floor, and Mac is infront of me. I charge up to the max, with full intent to waste him in one hit of my blade. I fire the first two shots into the wall, and pin him againts the corner. I get swing the sword, and he blows up in one shot. What a pussy.
Once again Zero teleports away, and I am forced to use X. I step out of the room, and kick my way up a wall. I enter another door, and it shuts behind me once again. I now appear to be ontop of the building. The sky turns black and Megaman walks forward. A huge robot rises from behind the building, with two metal balls with spikes all around as its arms. A life bar about twice as big as mine fills. I was shaking in my boots as of now. He quickly drops his 'arm' down onto the ground, certain doomed seemed inevitable. He hit me once, and prepared to swing again. He drops it about half the screen away from me? Then I noticed one small factor. This robot may be big in size, but has complete shit for aim. I run away, and start to charge a shot. I quickly jumped up, shot it into his face, and fall back down; I started charing again. He missed completely, and again I shot another blast of energy into his face. I continue this strategy until he blew up. GG! Zero teleports down, and informs me that all the robots have been dealt with.
After X teleports away, I am now viewing a screen with eight faces. I look through a few of them, and take the one that looks like a robotic buffalo. Eh, what can I say, I have a thing for buffalo.
Blizzard Buffalo... A robot with the power to shoot frozen water?
Once X teleports down, I gaze upon the scenery. The floor is covered in ice, and theres trees that look metallic, also covered in ice. The first thing I notice as I walk forward, that the ground is sterotypically slippery. A new enemy is in the buzzing around near me; it's a face with helicopter wings and a mouth that can unload missles in an attempt to kill me. I fire a couple shots into him and the one a few feet away, destroying them. Walking into another building, and see a pit of spikes ahead. I walk down, and slide into them! Spikes instantly kill you in any Megaman game that I've played. I quickly hit the wall, and frantically jump up. Grabing onto the ladder above, safe for now. A pad with an X inscribed that cant be used yet, and some ice blocks that cant be broken is to the left and right of me.. WTF gimmie something that can be done! As I walk forward, I see a one of those enemies with a helicopter on it's head. A couple blasts deals with him, and I continue walking onto the ice. X starts slipping very quickly into a pit of spikes. I narrowly avoid death by jumping at the last second, and run into another helicopter/face enemy. Just my luck. They fly up into the sky, avoiding death. I jump down to a platform below, and wall kick up. I'm greeted by two more enemies, which are quickly killed. I jump down even further, and dispose of anything with the intent of killing me. I go through another set of doors, expecting a mini-boss but they have suprised me. Nothing seems to be happening in the room, so I go through the doors on the other side. I progress through the level, and kill a new enemy. It looks like a head made of ice, that jumps around. No need to see what real attacks he has. One drops an extra life (woot) as more die to my gun. I climb another set of ladders, and am now in the open. A robot that can shoot small lasers at me starts to fire, but is quickly killed. Theres an extra energy tank above, but I can't reach it again (WTF). There are some snow mobilers, and when I destroyed the snow mobile the enemy jumps out and fires upon me. Theres a ledge above the boss door, and I do a sliding jump to try and reach it. X's foot just missed the ledge by a bit, so I try again; I hit the ledge and jump kick up to it. I see a capsule, and Dr. Light appears. He give me the 'foot' powerup. Strange, why can't they be given to me at the begining? I walk forward on the ice again, and am placed at the boss door.
I opened up by charging a shot and climbing the wall to the left of me. He turned on his 'jets' and headed at the wall with a 1MPH pace. When he missed me because I was at the top of the wall, I hopped down and shot my charged blast into his face. I climbed the wall again, and again he charged. This was looking easier than it appeared. As I climbed the wall the third time, he shot a ball of ice at me, dealing some nice damage. And when it hit the fall or ground, it formed into spikes. He would then charge at the wall, and the ice would shatter. Geez a trick up his sleeve. To counter this, I would stay on the ground for a second longer, and wait until he started charging. Risky, because running into him does a great deal of damage. When this plan failed, an idea striked me. Why not use the power I just aquired? I climb up the wall, and once he hits the wall, I boost jump behind him(seen in picture above). I shoot a charged shot into his back, and dash to the other side of the arena. I used and abused this strategy until this bastard is finally put to rest. For some reason he never used the ice attack again.
Well thats the end of the report for now. I might finish reporting the whole game, depending upon how people liked it. Maybe this one will be better than my last, but I can only wait and see. Thanks for reading it, now heres your treat =]. Well I couldn't figure out how to make it directly clickable, but this will have to do.
