Lemuroo: Spawned upper left, picked toss

Other dude: spawned upper right, random terran.

This will probably be the first and only win i ever post here, just because i want to highlight a big problem on bnet. No, not koreans, grrr, but damn terran whiners.

I did a normal two gate build while the other dude also did a two rax refinery opening. Big deal eh?

The first three zeals were sent to harass, taking out 3 marines at the choke and forcing the rest to retreat. From there, they took out maybe 3-4 scv's before getting waxed. An ok trade off eh?

A second force of 4 zealots and two dragoons (not range upgraded) were sent in, but quickly retreated at the sight of 8-10 marines holding the choke.

Seeing this, i decided that hey, even though i'm short on gas, i might as well take the mineral only expansion.

And that i did.

With the expansion up, i was rolling in the minerals with almost no gas. Whoo wee. 2 templars were all i had, and a ton of zealots. Then, the other dude decided to start a large tank push. An early probe saw it coming, and i thought it was an all out assault as the probe died before any scv's went past.

So, i backed off close to the expansion nexus, and awaited it, with some zeals holding on the cliff to flank 'em.

But alas, he laid down a bunker and began a devastating tank push.

Not really wanting to deal with having to bait zeals to psi storm, and then running zeals in (groan, work) i sent all my zealots south to run around the entire map and own him at his hopefully undefended main. (They were speed upgraded, i'm not retarded ya know). The few defenders still at the main (two goons, 3 DT's, and a few zealots) were eventually toasted at the natural by the tank push (which had an SV hovering over head and missile turrets, nullifying the dark temps cloaking abilities)

The other dude was overly cautious in his push, and never pushed his advantage while my zeals were gone. Having 4 gateways up meant a pretty quick replenishment. Before the detachment arrived, a shuttle did a quick preliminary assault toasting a few scv's and scouting him out. The zealot detachment arrived, killing many an scv's but really not doing anything too important.

At this point, i only had my besieged natural while he seemingly only had an inactive expansion between us.

I pulled out of my natural, not willing to engage the numerous vultures, spider mines, and 5 tanks. It fell of course, and forced me to defend inside my base.

Things were pretty tense then, and a war of attrition began. A few psi storms passed overhead of a few arclite cannons shots, and eventually, both our armies were withered away. At this point, his damn SV's were getting a bit annoying, EMPing everything i had, so i built 1 corsair to shoo them away.

At around this time, i found his working expansion, over at the bottom right. Two archons were sent via shuttle to dispatch it, and they took it out. With that gone, we were both even, with no steady source of minerals. I expanded to the bottom left and had that running long enough to maybe earn 1k-1.5k off of it before it too got toasted.

Wanted revenge, i attacked his other expansion in the middle of us, taking that out, and i also took the mineral/gas expansion at 9.

With that, things were basically over for him.

But alas, here's the meat of the report.

He claimed he lost because of the damn terran/toss imbalance. "Terrans require too much micro" he whined, "I had to concentrate sooo hard on that attack just to break even".

"Well dude" i explained "toss has always been considered to be the micro race before BW"

"Ya, but with BW, a terran has to do soo much work, i was trying as hard as i could" "Toss are the macro race now with goons!"

Sigh.

This game was essentially played a la vanilla on my part. The DT's basically didn't do jack squat. They held at my natural until his tank push came, and then were toasted because of SV's overhead.

The 1 corsair was just used to scare away SV's, something a scout could have done easily.

And the 2 goons i sent to attack him, and the 2 more that i had at my choke, weren't even equipped with the new goon range. Uh huh, lots of macro and massing of goons from there.

Yet, he used medics extensively to rape my zealots on numerous occasions.

Hrmm ::Lemuroo scratches his chin::: Interesting no?

An essentially non BW game on my part, a big time BW game on his, yet he still complains about BW screwing terrans over.

Granted, this dude was a great player, using almost every terran weapon at his disposal, baiting me into minefields, setting up offensive bunkers, etc. etc.

But the way he explained it, i was a bumbling idiot who only massed units and sent them blindly to their deaths without controlling them. Sigh, of course, for a terran to run 8 tanks into someone's base isn't macro, oh no.

Lessons learned:

If you lose, its quite simply because you were outplayed. I've lost as a terran to a toss many a times, and every game it was because the other dude out played me.

Race imbalances are now used as excuses to cover your butt after a loss. Lose gracefully instead of complaining about nonexistent imbalances that weren't even exploited by your enemy. Its the equivalent of saying "bad game" after you lose, or calling your opponent a map hack wielding cheese rusher.

And here's a real strategic tip: Midgame (not early) keep at least some defense at your main. If you commit everything at the front, you run the risk of being hit from behind. If he hadn't had a bunker and 2 tanks at his main, he woulda lost a lot earlier then before.
