*This is my first ever BR, I wasn't planning on making a BR so I didn't take any screens, not to mention the fact that I don't even know how to put them in, but hopefully you'll enjoy the tale. Thanx.

In a flaming ball of organic seed I was shot down to begin a new colony in the land of Tel'Dara IV. I dug my roots deep into the groundAfter hatching the initial colony I began to explore the lush surroundings of the new home of the swarm. But something seemed wrong, there was some type of interference with my telepathic with my minions, it seemed that there was another Cerebrate sharing these lands with me. A rival of sorts it would seem, time to unleash the wrath of my Brood.

Map: Rivalry
Me: Lower Left (Orange)
Opponent: Upper Left (Yellow)

Fearing a quick and bloody attack from my rival I built a spawning pool prior to the construction of a second hatchery, then set that hatchery at the top of a ramp leading up to my plateau. The pool finally finished filling with the necessary evolutionary fluids and with a vicious twist I pulled the protective creep covering from atop the pool to allow the fluids to the surface.

Soon after my second hatchery reached completion digging it's roots deep into the soil to spread the creep over the surrounding ground. I quickly created a creep colony and morphed it into an underground sunken colony for protection from invading forces. Moments later my first zerglings came to life as they hatched from there nests and I immediately sent them in search of my opponent finding him in the Northwestern province of the land. I found an early hatchery expanding to his natural and commanded my troops to attack with extreme prejudice, only to find a superior number of his yellow zergling beasts streaming from his base to fend off my poor children.

My inital attempts at overwhelming his expansion failed and I decided that in order to gain victory it would be necessary to expand as well, preferably to an area where I could harvest the precious vespene gas. Commanding a drone to find a new area for a nest but found to my horror that the drone was unable to slip between the hatchery and sunken colony in order to expand.

I was ruined, my opponent would be able to out-produce me with ease until I managed to produce the Pneumatic opening to allow my overlords to transport my children. And with out the precious vespene I’d never be able to keep up in mutalisk production. I knew that it would be necessary to slow my opponent down so that I would have time to catch up. I sent out two 12-zergling squads toward his base, sending one just below his expansion and the other just east of his main's ramp. Before they reached their destination I began the long process of creating a Spire from the creep. When my hounds of hell reached their destination I ordered the east squad of my children to his main base. His defensive forces were all gathered around his expansion and my children began to attack his spawning pool. Just as a zerglings claws rent the pools lining asunder, allowing the fluids to poor into the surrounding creep, his forces came tearing up the ramp to attack my men. I sent half to delay the death squad and the other half to attack his mineral gathering drones. Blood spilled on both sides as my small squad was torn apart by his larger army and his drones were quickly torn to shreds by my own forces.

Meanwhile as my east squad was rent asunder my second squad, reinforced from their home tore into his now poorly defended expansion, his sunkens fell quickly to my zerglings and his drones fell shortly after. By the time his superior army managed to wipe out my second force almost his entire crew of mineral gathering drones were mere scraps upon the ground.

My gamble had paid off, and my two pronged attack had wiped his drones from the face of the planet. This gave me the advantage I needed and shortly after my Spire reached completion and I was ready to take to the sky. But first came my Yellow opponent’s retaliation, a large horde of zerglings and Hydras came tearing up my ramp intent on destroying my colony. They were met at the ramp by a mere four zerglings. However as they came single file up the rampway huge hardened tongues of creep burst from the ground beneath their feet as my two sunken colonies tore into the attackers. A second foursome of zerglings were born and helped defend the rampway, managing to stave off an attack of 2 dozen of his zerglings and as many as 12 of his hydralisk.

Moments later my mutalisk took wing and I sent the five dragon like creatures to my opponents bases, once again taking out all the mineral gathering drones. By switching back and forth between the two bases, I managed to avoid his hyrdas until my pneumatic evolution completed and a second base was begun. In desperation my opponent through his last reserves against my main and was brought down from the terror above as vicious glave worms at holes through his troops.

Soon after his hatcheries were torn and bleeding, seeping back into the now receding creep as my Yellow rival was forced to admit defeat. The planet was mine long live the swarm. (Or at least long live my swarm)

Lessons learned:
-Don't block your only way down your ramp (moron.)
-When something goes wrong economy wise, it's best to strike quickly, while he hasn't had enough time to build troops. Getting outproduced is a bad thing.
-A two pronged attack can work wonders if your opponent over commits, especially if you hit early enough that his forces haven't had the speed upgrades yet.
-A sunken defended ramp is absolutely wicked.
-Mutalisk own hydras in a zerg vs. zerg due to their superior mobility.

Hope you enjoyed this BR, it was my first effort and I through it together really quickly, but I had to share this match. I think the two pronged attack was my finest tactical masterpiece, not that that’s saying much.

P.S.: I'd love some feedback, tell me what I could have done better (besides a more well told story, this was kinda a rush job.)

Thanks,
HunterD
