vs
wickedcerebrete and schneeble
map: rivalry
positions from the 2 o clock going clockwise: Me (protoss) shneeble(protoss) Odin (protoss) cerebrete (zerg)
this was the first and probably last occasion that odin and I, fellow nohunters, joined forces against the dreaded PUBLIC. knowing each other only by reputation, the two unlikely heroes did not know what to expect. A random draw had come up protoss for me. My worst race, but i was looking forward to the practice. Having a little less balls, Odin chose protoss, obviously his best race. The enemy chose their races, and the battle began.
Early game: Both Odin and I chose similer build orders pylon 7, double gates, assimilator, core, forge(for upgrades), and of course constatly pumping out probes the entire time, which in manditory for protoss. in a selfless act i elected to scout with my probe as i had 2 zelots on my ramp to block the rush. my probe headed down and discovered the protoss base of shneeble, his forge rapidly creating a cannon wall, with a gate way not too far in construction. the stealty probe mannaged to escape unscathed. quickly, it rushed to the opposite end of the map, to find a zerg lair, undefended, with a hydra den and an extractor... an obvious lurker rush. Unfortunatly the probe was spotted by a slugish overlord, looming above the zerg cestpool. imeadiatly creep colonies were put under construction. 5 zelots from each of our bases were already at the base of the ramp, so the deadly double rush proceed undaunted by the new opposition. the 10 zelots quickly dispatched the 2 sunkens, and some newly formed hydras, and the extractor, as the zelots set their psi blades on to the drones, ripping most of them into zergling fodder. About this time we intercepted a distress call from the zerg, begging his turtling ally to help, this realization that the team had not encoded their messeges with "ally chat" was another turn in the Nohunter favor. three new sunkens were morphed and the zerg base was safe... for now.
Mid Game: In an uncannily simmiler action both Odin and I chose to ignore our natural expansion, and expanded to the 6 oclock and 3 oclock possitions respectively, knowing that neiter zerg nor protoss were going to be a threat any time soon. with my 4th gateway constructed, the dragoons were pumping out at an amazing rate. Unfortunatly, in an engineering error, half of my dragoons were trapped on one side of my base, blocked by the much needed temple archive... and a less nessesary photon cannon... the probe which created such a drastic costly error was deactivated and sold for scrap metal. destroying the opposing protoss's chance to expand, 6 dragoons were placed out side his base, laying seige to the poor turtle. the same action was preformed on the rebuilt zerg empire. Due to another intercepted transmission, the zergs intentions were known to be a mass hydra and lurker drop on me :) taking the proper precations i fortified my left side with 8 dragoons. While odin prepared for his invasion of the weakling schneeble, who had an opposion of 3 unupgraded carriers. which easily fell to the combined force of dark templers, dragoons and acrhons. At this time the hydra drop arrived. 8 overlords full of hydras dropped at my left side. a premature drop was forced by my 8 dragoons. the massive zerg force still was able to destroy my defending goons, and my cannons. This was the deadly mistake which proved to be his downfall. with the cannons destroyed, the other half of my goon force, which was isolated previously, let the full wrath of the protoss on the squeemish hydras. at the cost of 8 goons and 2 cannons, my base was safe, and zerg was forced to reatreat to his base. where odin was invading. the war was soon over, with odin's forces being re enforced by my observers and goons.
Conclusion:
after this merciless slaughter, odin claimed to be the champion. saying he had won a 2v1 because i did nothing. this egotistical millitary mastermind had let his ego cloud his perception. just because he destroyed the weak protoss, while i was busy taking on the dangerous zerg, knowing full well the power of the swarm if expasions were able to be created.
Lessons:
turtling is bad. you need to help your ally, early game is an essential part of a 2v2
expand/contain, both of these will win you the game.
goons rock :)
UPGRADE attack mainly, armor next, i dont like upgrading shields, but hey its your choice
give credit where credit is due. odin is a good player. but there is no WAY that was 2v1 victory by him.
