| My first battle report (probabaly sucks) | | | Author: | | | IP: | XXXX | | Date: | 09/02/99 09:09 | | Game Type: | Starcraft | | Labels: | Starcraft(1), Text Only(1) | | Report Rating: , # of Ratings: 2, Max: 5, Min: 4 Lifetime Rating for Sodi: 4.5000 | | Ok, well I have never done this before, but I just played a game that I thought was cool, so I figured I would tell people about it.
I STARTED as a 2v2 on Winter Conquest. I started at 10 o-clock spot. A protoss opponent whos name I can't recall (I told you I was new at this) started in the 12 o-clock spot. And a terren opponent who also shall unfortunatally remain nameless started at the 6 o-clock spot. You will notice I didn't mention my partner. He started at the 4 o-clock spot, but he lagged off before he could do anything. Thus I was on top of my game (for some reason I always am when facing improbable odds) Anyhow, on with the story.
I did a 7-pylon, 8-gateway, 9-gateway, 10-pylon build to start out with. I sent probe #9 to scout, just as a probe from the opponent came into my base, I watched it leave, and so guessed, correctly that the proty was above me. My probe found this to be true in short order. It also saw that he was doing a forge first build. Thus when my first zealot came out I sent it streight to his choke in front of his natural where he was attempting to set up defensive cannons. I continued to send zealots at this, since the first one failed to stop all of the cannons. Unfortunataly since my partner hadn't quite lagged off at this point I was not yet on top of my game. First one, then two, then 8 zealots died trying to end the game quickly.
Anyhow, at this point my partner leaves, and I make one last futile attempt to do away with the proty so it will be one on one. Unfortunatally I fail, however, I find that the probe I used to scout is still out on the map. As a matter of fact it is sitting at the 3 o-clock starting position which being unoccupied I decided to settle. I built a pylon, then some cannons, then a gateway to secure it. Then just as I was about to start my nexus an enemy probe blunders into my cannons, and I know my secret is out.
I become worried when I see a siege tank down below the cannons at my new expansion, and send my eight zealots to put an end to what I feel is just a couple of tanks. (I didn't have a high opinion of the terran player, and I still don't) However, as my troops are going over there they meet a large force of the proty's troops going to assist in the siege of my expansion. My troops attack them, and he runs to the tanks, which summarily kill my zealots. At this point however I have just got a templar archives and I pop out two darkys right quick. Luckily for me the terren is a little slow on the draw and doesn't scan. I kill both the tanks, and the protoss force, being wiser, leaves before I can attack it. I have shuttles by this time and am mining at both my main and expansion very well. I drop some darkys into the proty's base and manage to destroy an ill placed robotics facility, and observatory before they are detected by a scan (wow, terran boy found his scanner!)
Determined to do some damage however, I tech to reavers and send a two reaver, 4 dark templar drop. My reavers take out his cannons and my darkies do the rest. I wonder where the proties forces are? Then I find out. Attacking my main, with a full complement of tanks from green! at this point, as I have nothing defending my main except a couple of cannons, two templar, and two darkies I give up on my main and rebuild its structures at my expansion. I do destroy the proty's main base however.
Well, that was the beggining of the end for me, to make a long story short, a succession of reaver drops, and tank pushes battered my expansion untill I knew I was done for. They were kind enough to ally with me in the end, which was nice, but I still thought it was a great game, and I beleive I did good against two people.
Observations.
I can I actually do some damage against a two person team! (I guess this means Im getting good!)
If I had had more tank killers I would have done better. I don't know if I gave this impression, but tanks actually did me more damage than anything.
Darkies were critical to my game, they stress people out by making them call in the detection.
Reavers were also pivotal. Together darkies and reavers can rule the ground. People don't know weather to scan first to detect the darkies, or make their units concentrate their fire on one of the reavers.
My observations were lame.
Conclusion
This game was better then I made it sound, at least thats what I feel. I was pressed for time though, and this was sort of a spur of the moment thing. Anyhow, comments are welcome. |
