These two players were originally going to be fighting against each other on Rivalry

These two players were
originally going to be fighting In a 2v2 against each other on
Rivalry, with me as one of their team-mates, but when the other
guy didnt show, I said "Fight 1v1 and I'll BR it." TheTeckMan elected
to lead the noble Protoss into battle against DrunkerSailor's
voracious Zerg. Some interesting conversation occured before the
actual game took place; one of the most important factors in the
game was made clear here: TheTeckMan had Ricky Martin stuck in
his head.
Each player started out mining, followed by a
support structure (Overlord in DrunkerSailor's case.)
DrunkerSailor decided to immediately expand to his natural, while
TheTeckMan put up an some early cannons, content to hide behind
them for the time being. DrunkerSailor started putting zerglings
at all of the resource spots on the map, hoping to gather some
early intelligence. He then got his spawning pool,
extractor, and hydra den in rapid order. Meanwhile,
TheTeckMan had been teching rapidly, following his double gate
opening, he put up his cyber core, robotics facility, and
observatory, while producing zealots constantly. Meanwhile,
his probes were singing Ricky Martin. At this time,
DrunkerSailor decided that it would be a good time for a second
expansion, so he took the 9 o'clock spot on the map to further
the swarm's influence. At the same time, TheTeckMan thought it
would be a good time to see what DrunkerSailor was up to, and
sent Ricky the Zealot to scout, while researching leg speed.
Unfortunately for the zealot, a horde of zerglings was awaiting
him at DrunkerSailor's natural, and the leg speed upgrade was not
yet finished. A furious chase ensued, but alas, the heroic zealot
was lost.
TheTeckman, upon seeing that DrunkerSailor has taken
his natural, decides he also needs an expansion, but instead of
electing to expand right outside of his base, he expands to the
mineral-rich top left spot. Unfortunately for him,
DrunkerSailor's intelligence network of burrowed zerglings
provides crucial information, and a crack squad of hydralisks and
zerglings are sent to dispatch the fledgling protoss expansion.
The zerg forces break through the cannons at the ramp, and
proceed to raze the nexus.
A furious battle ensues for the top left, and
neither player is willing to back down. A mixed force of zealots
and dragoons dispatches the original force of hydras and lings. A
High Templar is moved into position, ready to storm any sign of
trouble. DrunkerSailor takes a breather and expands once more to
the 6:00 position. The zerg swarm now has 4 operational bases,
compared to TeckMan's 1. DrunkerSailor now sends most of his
units toward the top right, and at the same time another templar
and several more zealots arrive at the ramp to the hotly
contested top left position. Just then, the zerg horde arrives.
TheTeckman tries desperately to save his only expansion, and
sends all available units toward the top left, while gratuitously
using Psionic Storm. However, for every good storm he gets off,
there is one that doesn't hit a thing. The zerg hydras take the
hill, and TheTeckMan makes one desperate last storm, before
exhausting his units and conceding the game.
LESSONS LEARNED
1.)When fighting
against zerg, always try to expand.
2.)Never, NEVER
play when you have Ricky Martin stuck in your head. It will
adversely affect your micro, macro, make your zealots look funny
in battle reports, etc.
3.)Storm rules
hydras…but only when it actually hits them. Learn to
effectively manage templars.
4.)X'DsGrr….'s
early zerg expand strat vs. protoss works…try it sometime!
5.)I need to make
my battle reports better. Any suggestions? Just leave a comment.
It has been my pleasure to bring you this Battle Report.
