[9]eVERLAST vs [Gi]Multifaith
i2e2 1v1 series; Game 2
In the 2nd game of the i2e2 1v1 series between [9]eVERLAST and [Gi]Multifaith, eVERLAST had the map pick; he chose Lost Temple as his map of choice. He had previously explained to me that he had been practicing on Lost Temple a lot, as he had assumed that Multifaith would pick it as his map of choice...the win on Dire Straights was something eVERLAST had not been counting on(but I'm sure it was a welcome relief).
Once again both players "chose" random as their races to begin with, yet both switched to Zerg at the last moment. [9]eVERLAST spawned at the 3 o'clock position, and [Gi]Multifaith at the 12 o'clock position. Trouble would soon follow, as they both realized their proximity to each other when their Overlords passed each other on their assigned scouting trips
Both players used similar, yet not identical builds. [9]eVERLAST, using his knowledge of Zerg vs Zerg(which he undoubtedly improved upon since living in Korea), knew that the game would not last very long if played correctly, and opted for a quick 2nd hatchery build; extractor / drone / cancel extractor / 2nd hatchery / spawning pool,

leaving the number of drones mining minerals lesser than that of [Gi]Multifaith, who had opted for a slower, power build, going overlord on 8th drone / drone / 3 more drones prior to putting up his 2nd hatchery and spawning pool(a full extractor was soon to follow).
Both players had their scouting Overlords in each others' bases, and no secrets were kept. [9]eVERLAST, seeing [Gi]Multifaith's slower build, knew that he had the upper hand in early unit production. [Gi]Multifaith saw many Zerglings being produced at his opponent's base before he was ready to handle them, and chose to build a sunken in his main, hoping that it could compensate for his Zerglings' inferior numbers should [9]eVERLAST attack.
Here is a quick side note on [9]eVERLAST's build; it appears as if he went with a minimalist economy, a rare sight in "most" Zerg vs Zerg games

Presumably he kept this smaller number of drones only to free up larvae for a constant production of Zerglings.
Back to the game; [9]eVERLAST did indeed attack, with approximately 20 Zerglings. They managed to kill all of [Gi]Multifaith's defending Zerglings, and brought his Sunken colony to around 100 hitpoints. Realizing he needed more defenses quickly, [Gi]Multifaith placed another Sunken colony while trying to hatch lings ASAP. He had begun his Spire as soon as [9]eVERLAST's first wave had been beaten back, and it was now obvious that [Gi]Multifaith's only hope of winning would come from that Spire; if it hatched quickly enough, he could use even just a few Mutalisks to overcome [9]eVERLAST's Zerglings and damage his defenseless base.
[9]eVERLAST knew this as well, however, and wasted no time in attacking again. Another 20 or so Zerglings charged into [Gi]Multifaith's weakened base, took down both spires, killed all defending Zerglings, and killed approximately half of [Gi]Multifaith's drones before dying to the drones' attacks
Alas, it was too late for [Gi]Multifaith to recover from this 2nd wave to thwart the 3rd. When a few more Zerglings appeared in his base he surrendered, knowing that it was a lost cause. GG's were exchanged, and [9]eVERLAST advanced to the 3rd round of the 1v1 i2e2 series. Here are the final scores

Congratulations [9]eVERLAST! And congratulations [Gi]Multifaith for 2 extremely hard fought games, and being so sportsmanlike even in the face of defeat. Both are truly world-class caliber players, it was a pleasure observing their games.
