HEY STOP LEAVING, I TOOK 129 SCREENSHOTS THIS TIME!!! :P Anyway, this BR is about a 1v1 that came up between Heartcutter and ProtectorofAiur. I decided it'd be a serious injustice not to BR this. POA evidently had some anti-metal strat that he'd already used with success and he wanted to try Cutter with it. After a whisper from POA, I joined up like lightning since Heartcutter is my hero. I got in, picked Terran (it was on melee), and as we were about to go, some guy named ANARCHY01 joined. Heartcutter said only one obs was allowed and kicked him out. My game my game mine! :D
Map: The Lost Temple
Heartcutter - Yellow Terran at 3:00
ProtectorofAiur - White Protoss at 12:00
I started off at 6:00, lifted off and parked my floating CC and an SCV with 5 HP in the lower left corner, never to be noticed by either player for the rest of the game. ProtectorofAiur started his build with standard dual Gateways and found Heartcutter with his scouting Probe in the first place he looked. Heartcutter went for a wallin at his choke consisting of two Supply Depots and a Barrack, getting an early Refinery as well. Deon the Peon (Heartcutter's SCV scout) wasn't so lucky, as he was sent to scout clockwise and found ProtectorofAiur in the last spot he looked (which was too late to get any recon info - 3 Zealots at ProtectorofAiur's choke blocked it off). ProtectorofAiur revealed his gosu anti-metal tactic when he sent a Probe out to expand - at his mineral-only natural.
Heartcutter happily set about building an Academy and Engineering Bay after his Factory was done. He sent out a small force of 2 SCV's, 6-8 Marines, 2 Tanks, and 2 Medics at the same time that ProtectorofAiur sent one of his Zealots to Heartcutter's main. The Zealot completely bypassed all of Heartcutter's forces except for a Marine and 2 Medics that were slow in vacating the main. The Zealot ended up dying to a single Marine being healed by one of the Medics and gathered no recon info at all.
Heartcutter's containment force gathered at the area below ProtectorofAiur's ramp and the SCV's immediately set about building a couple of Bunkers as the Tanks sieged up behind them. The Bunkers were loaded and a Turret was constructed behind them, and with good cause - ProtectorofAiur's Templar Archives was just warping in.
At the time Heartcutter was setting this up, ProtectorofAiur only had a couple Zealots and 4 Goons above his ramp to defend with. However, he now had 4 Gateways and his Archives up, and he began to mass troops fairly quickly. Heartcutter, on the other hand, was beginning a Starport at his main, and had set up a dual-tank drop defense by his Command Center. Also, a second CC being built in his main was nearing completion at that point, and would soon lift off and settle at Heartcutter's natural.
ProtectorofAiur was soon well aware of Heartcutter's containment attempt, and pulled his forces back near his Gateways as Heartcutter brought a 3rd Tank to the containment and constructed a 3rd bunker closer to the ramp. ProtectorofAiur managed to start a Nexus at the 9:00 main with his original scouting Probe, which had been running around the map with Deon on its trail for quite a while now. Finally, a duo of Dark Templar popped out of ProtectorofAiur's Gateways - it was only a matter of time.
Heartcutter began building more Barracks at home..Deep Six baby. But before Heartcutter could finish any of them, ProtectorofAiur decided he didn't like the Bunkers below his main and charged with a healthy number of Zealots and Goons, as well as the 2 DT's. Heartcutter seemed to be winning at first, with at least half of ProtectorofAiur's units wandering stupidly around above the ramp but not coming down. And then they made their way to Heartcutter's Bunkers and Tanks, and although Heartcutter did well, ProtectorofAiur razed the containment.

After he was done with Heartcutter's containment, ProtectorofAiur didn't hesitate in sending his 2 DT's to Heartcutter's expansion, which had no detection as of yet. The DT's ran into the SCV line and popped a few, and Heartcutter began a second ComSat and a Turret above the CC immediately. He used the SCV's as a shield to keep the DT's from stopping the Turret, but they made it anyway and the Turret was destroyed before it could offer any help. Heartcutter then scanned, and killed one of the DT's with 3 marines and 2 Firebats, while the other ran for cover behind the minerals. The second ComSat finished and scanned, and the 2nd DT was 'cured'. Heartcutter had lost a number of SCV's, but he would be okay now. He started another Turret and sent his SCV's back to mine.
Let's recap. Heartcutter has 2 mining bases, and is producing infantry from 6 Barracks as his main force. ProtectorofAiur, on the other hand, has 3 mining bases (the 9:00 still starting up with 4 Goons as defense) and at least 6 Gateways pumping out Zealots and Goons. Heartcutter had better find a way to even the resources before ProtectorofAiur's greater income takes its toll on him.
ProtectorofAiur ordered a force of Zealots and Goons to gather outside Heartcutter's natural. He probably figured Heartcutter was in a weakened state after his assault on the SCV's, and seeing just 3 Marines and 2 Firebats on that run. Heartcutter had actually amassed a decent number of infantry, but I personally wasn't sure if he would be able to survive this attack. ProtectorofAiur began by running his group into the natural without attacking anything on the way. He ordered all the Zealots to attack the Command Center there while the Goons seemed to be more useful as shields from the Zealots. For whatever reason, any advantage ProtectorofAiur could've gained by focussing on the CC was lost as the Zealots turned toward the SCV's to attack them before the CC was even in the red. He turned back to it at the last second but it was too late - Heartcutter's expansion remained, as well as his infantry.

After the battle was over, Heartcutter decided to make use of his infantry and directed them toward ProtectorofAiur's 9:00 expansion, which Deon had seen earlier. He brought a good number of troops, probably expecting the expansion to be defended by a force more formidable than 4 Goons. Heartcutter mowed the expansion down, but he was faced with a couple new problems. ProtectorofAiur had recently shuttled a Probe to the island in the top left corner and was starting a new expansion there. Also, ProtectorofAiur replenished his attack force easily, and attacked Heartcutter again while the majority of his troops were on the other side of the map. This time, ProtectorofAiur brought a Templar that got off a good storm during the attack. Heartcutter won that fight though, with newly produced troops from his Barracks. The Templar ended up being killed off by a single stimmed Marine afterwards..I bet ProtectorofAiur was cursing. :P
Heartcutter ordered the infantry he used to destroy 9:00 to gather outside ProtectorofAiur's base. I thought it was kinda funny that they were just inches away from seeing ProtectorofAiur's defenseless mineral-only expansion as they line-danced their way to the area. ProtectorofAiur chose then to expand to his natural, starting up a Nexus and dropping 3 Zealots and a Templar on the cliff above to defend turbo newbies. He also loaded his lone Shuttle with a Zealot and a Templar and went to Heartcutter's main to do a psi raid. Unfortunately for ProtectorofAiur, the psi raid went horribly wrong when he accidentally unloaded the Templar first, which was then blasted to nothing by the Tanks, with the following Zealot meeting the same fate.

Heartcutter charged ProtectorofAiur's ramp at that same moment, and was doing well because his Medics were blocking the way for the Zealots to reach the Marines. However, the attack was suddenly squelched by a well-placed Psi Storm from ProtectorofAiur.

ProtectorofAiur started yet another new expansion at 6:00 following the battle. It looked like Heartcutter was going to be in some real trouble in the resource war. It was soon discovered by a single Wraith patrolling for expansions, but ProtectorofAiur didn't seem to notice it as it stopped for just a second and moved on to scout 9:00. Heartcutter noticed though. He loaded up 2 Dropships of infantry and ordered them to head down to 6:00. Another attack from ProtectorofAiur came before the Dropships reached their destination though, and once again ProtectorofAiur directed his troops to run into the natural's SCV line before attacking anything. Although SCV's were lost, Heartcutter crushed the attack without much trouble.
Heartcutter's Dropships finally reached 6:00, and the Marines and Firebats plowed through ProtectorofAiur's newly-warped Assimilator and Nexus. Although the attack was successful, ProtectorofAiur took the opportunity to try another Psi Raid while Heartcutter was occupied with his expansion. All but one or two of the mining SCV's at Heartcutter's main were killed by Storm.
At this point, Heartcutter was beginning to train Ghosts to supplement his army. Deciding he needed to strike ProtectorofAiur at the core, he loaded up 3 Dropships with a Tank and some misc. infantry and sent them left of the temple and up to ProtectorofAiur's base. On the way, he happened upon ProtectorofAiur's mineral only expansion and decided to detour to take that out first. Heartcutter lost a number of troops from defending Zealots and a Psi Storm, but he had enough to load a Dropship and unload the infantry in ProtectorofAiur's main. The Marines saw ProtectorofAiur's Templar Archives and had a field day destroying it. Sadly, they were killed by a good Storm and some Zealots. Heartcutter cloaked the 2 surviving Ghosts he'd brought along on the drop, and I noticed something very key about ProtectorofAiur. He had no detection at all, except for the Cannons at his island expansion and a couple Cannons above the Nexus at his main. The 2 cloaked Ghosts assassinated Templar and Zealots in ProtectorofAiur's main until their energy ran low and they silently walked out.
Heartcutter finally got a 3rd CC floating down to the bottom right island and transported a score of SCV's there from his main. One thing I noticed (which Heartcutter probably didn't) was that one of the dropships had stopped above a gas geyser and couldn't unload, and all the Dropships were waypointed to go home after unloading. [I think] that Dropship was carrying 2 Tanks, and if Heartcutter had noticed the mistake, his island wouldn't have had so much trouble later on.
But Heartcutter didn't notice the Dropship. He was busy organizing an ownage of ProtectorofAiur's natural expansion. Marines bulldozed the Probes and Nexus while 5 cloaked Ghosts assassinated the Templar ProtectorofAiur was trying to send to help. Heartcutter didn't even head into ProtectorofAiur's main with his infantry army; he sent the cloaked Ghosts ahead and they killed all the Templar, along with some left over Zealots.
ProtectorofAiur was busy with other things though. He did a psi raid over at Heartcutter's natural, and then sent the Shuttle downward after making a realization, to psi raid Heartcutter's island expansion too.

Heartcutter gathered his redneck samurai below ProtectorofAiur's main again, and tried yet another attack. Aside from the cloaked Ghosts, everything Terran was killed. During this, at Heartcutter's island, ProtectorofAiur had 2 Zealots and his Templar left and they were tearing everything up. It took a reinforcement drop of 2 Tanks to end the threat.
Heartcutter wouldn't get much rest though. ProtectorofAiur launched another assault on Heartcutter's main with Zealots and Goons. It was close, but Heartcutter came out ahead, killing the last Goons with Ghosts and SCV's from his natural. I think Lady Luck smiled upon Heartcutter when a Ghost on his ramp ate a bunch of Goon shots because they kept missing over and over (I'm serious, it was funny, I had to look twice just to prove to myself that the Ghost wasn't D-Matrixed). During the attack, ProtectorofAiur also sent a Probe to 6:00 to start another Nexus there.
Again, Heartcutter wasn't given the benefit of a breather. ProtectorofAiur had another attack ready when his last one was killed off. Ghosts fought valiantly, but this time ProtectorofAiur finally destroyed the natural CC, though he didn't make it into Heartcutter's main.

After that attack was over, ProtectorofAiur asked something like "hey twip are you having fun?" to which I responded...

ProtectorofAiur started new expansions at 9:00 and his natural again and brought another force to Heartcutter's main..this time, it was 4 Zealots and 4 Templar. The Templar Stormed out Heartcutter's poor infantry and the Zealots went up the ramp and killed his Tank, and then headed further in to destroy Heartcutter's Supply Depots. They were eventually taken care of by 4 cloaked Ghosts though.
ProtectorofAiur tried a drop on Heartcutter's island expansion again, but it failed horribly. He gathered another 4 Zealots, Goons, and Templar (each) and sent them Heartcutter's way. Finally, after putting up a tough fight, Heartcutter called a gg. ProtectorofAiur explained to him that the only way he can break metal containment is by grabbing an early expansion at another main or at his mineral natural.

The action in this game was non-stop, and quite a few times it looked like Heartcutter would have the win. Looks like POA walked away with it though, it was a damn close game. I have to wonder if things might've been different if Cutter had invested in a Nuke Silo on his island. Anyway, I wanna thank them both for letting me watch it; it was great.
