Sunday night after The Simpsons and Malcolm, i was ready to go to sleep, but decided to observe a game on battle.net and do a battlereport. And i was desperate so the first game that came up, i went in, demanded to observe, and they let me. I picked terran, killed 3 SCV's and 1 at 5 health and floated over the water to watch the game. Now Welcome to my First Battle Report!
The Map: Lost Temple
CidTheZealot: Terran @ 3 o clock
PoultryGiest: Zerg @ 6 o clock
The Buildup
The game started normal for the terran player with a rather normal, yet odd build. He landed at the 9 o clock start position with a randomeed terran, and sent his SCV's out to work. Once he was up to 8 SCV's he sent 1 out to his choke and started a depot. When he was done he want back on his merry way mining his minerals and the 10th SCV was sent out to work on a barracks also at the choke. Then, in a move, i would assume caused by the fact that this person is better than me, he goes for gas early. He still has not scouted and does not know his opponents race, and after seeing what he did i approve of this move. He then started a depot and finished off his wall, and a few seconds after a stray drone came in so tell him of his opponents race.
Meanwhile, the Zerg player (PoultryGiest) spawned at the 6 o clock start position and went for a build that is becoming more popular as i have seen it. 9 drone hatch at expansion, and then a pool without buildling any more drones. He then started gas, and sent out a scout at the same time. But oddly enough he hadn't started mining gas. I knew that this was a mistake becuase i know he was facing a terran and he would need that valuable gas to tech to units that can actually kill off a terran. He put 2 sunkens up at his expansion once it has popped out of its little morphy thing. HE started mining his expansion and his gas at the same time as the buildup stage had finished now each started going into specialized build orders.
CidTheZealot added a factory, and researched siege mode, while constantly pumping marines out of 1 Rax. He still hasn't scouted, and he adds a starport to the mix and a control tower once that is done.
PoultryGiest added an extractor at his natural and started mining the gas there and started a lair and i hydralisk den going for the terran killing unit known as the lurker. I believed that it was a little slow, and that he will have tanks and turrets in time so the lurkers will be unsuccessful. But that is just my thoughts. He still only has 2 hatcheries and is mining decently in both his bases.
Finally some First Blood
CidTheZealot finally scouted his opponent and found him at the last position that he scouted. He found out the valuable information about the expansion and at his main loaded a dropship with 1 tank, 1 scv, and 3 marines going for the deadly.... TURBONEWBIE!! The cargo arrived not long after and set up on his ledge
The SCV built a bunker while at his main CidTheZealot finished with his science facility and started on multiple engineering bays while the bottom lights started flickering. He then added a second rax and at about that time he expanded to his natural.
PoultryGiest who was obviously rattled by the loss of his expansion added a hatchery at his main, and then morphed five lurkers and added a queens nest. Once that was done two eggs started going and 2 queens popped out of eggs. He started on a hive and he makes all of his zeglings into cracklings and adds, a defilers mound. Yes, a defilers mound.
CidTheZealot finally added an academy and started on a third barracks. He then made a fourth and was content to stay there. His marines upgrades were at 1/1 while zerg didn't even have an evolution chamber. PoultryGiest finally showed me what he was doing as he loaded up overlords and escorted them with queens. While 1 other overlord expanded to the upper left island with 1 drone which i actually didn't notice at first, but picked it up when it was about done morphing. The queens served as scouts and the overlords went in back and dropped their cargo. Burrowed Lurkers reaked havoc on his SCV line while zerglings ate on the SCV's
CidTheZealot loses his academy, all his SCV except maybe 1 or 2 at his main and a few supply depots before M&M and science vessels finish off the attack. He had been forced to float his Command Center which lands back down once the threat has been eliminated. The Late Game
The Terran commanders did not like the attack that had been put forth by the zerg infestation and decided to counter. With 2/2 upgrades on his marines he finally put his academy back up at his main. About 3 control groups of M&M and 4 science vessels prepared for an assault on the zerg main.
The matchup was sure to be fierce . There were also about 24 cracklings which could not be seen in the picture. The terrans grouped in front of the ramp and then prepared for a charge, but were unsuccessful as dark swarm and plague prevented the terran troops from marching up the ramp. The terrans retreated and waited for reinforcements in the form of firebats, marines, and science vessels. The assault came charging in and made it through the ramp this time. The lurkers were irradiated except for 2 which tried to fight vs. the infantry but were unsuccessful in their ventures.
During this brutal battle CidTheZealot expanded to the 12 o clock natural and had about 20 SCV's mining minerals and 4 on gas. His natural was mined pretty good and his main was mined out. 1 guardianand 2 mutas assaulted the natural and killed all SCV before marines and medics and a dropship, were able to fend it off. But this zerg, wasn't done being annoying. PoultryGiest loaded up 3 overlords of cracklings and dropped them at the 12 o clock natural.
CidTheZealot had had enough and loaded up 2 dropships, dmatrixed them and sent them to the island. They made it there and unloaded their cargo and PoultryGiest surrendered to CidTheZealot.
