As I gasped for air from being exposed to homework too long (About 5min) I booted up Starcraft in a last desperate hope for survival.
CLEAR!
Beeeeeeeeeeeep........Beep......Beep......Beep.
I was revived in an instant as the speakers sluttered into life and the screen sparkled with the words Starcraft.......Loading.....Loading I was SAVED!
I begin to regain feeling in my fingers and strength returns to my limbs as I am given confirmation that I will survive afterall.
"Searching for the fastest Battle.net server..."
I quickly type in my password in anticipation of what is to come. I changed channels and entered my Clan channel........and.......my heart hit rock bottom!! There was no-one here except two bots. In dispair my cursor hovered over the "Quit" button and my finger was lowered onto the right button, but didn't click. Another glimmer of hope surged through my body as I tapped in "!allseen" and ten names appeared on the screen in response. I picked the first few and did a "/whois" and only one name came back as being online - [HK]Phoenix.
Unfortunately Phoenix was in another game so I decided I would warm up with a public game. Hitting the join button the games came up and I proceded to enter a 2v2 game. I didn't take any notice of what map or who created it but it ended up being the Lost Temple and the creator was [HK]Phoenix!! "WooHoo" I yelled and startled my brother who was looking on intently. Hi's were exchanged and two more people joined - Hydra and some other guy. (Can't remember who so we'll call him "MutaKing") [HK]Phoenix requested to go with Hydra, so I agreed and was teamed with MutaKing.
Map: The Lost Temple
Players:
[HK]Grin'in - 6 O'clock position
MutaKing - 9 O'clock position
[HK]Phoenix - 3 O'clock position
Hydra - 12 O'clock position
After the teams had been decided and the chit chat had run it's course, the game was started. My partner chose Random and pulled Zerg, I chose random and recieved TERRAN!!! Oh crap..... (My pure hate for playing as terran nearly made me faint right there and then, but I thought, "What the heck, what's one lose?") [HK]Phoenix chose Terran and Hydra chose.......well.......Zerg.
I went with my standard Terran build order that is used rarley by myself and goes as follows: A depot on 7, Rax on 9 and then play it by ear......(Well that's what I DO do every time a play as terran!) My partner scouted with an overlord and went for economic stance with first a hatch at his ramp with a sunken as support and gas came quickly after followed by a spawning pool. (Because this game was a little while ago and I was actually playing and not taking notes, there will be a lack of information on what the opposition was doing.)
The first starting position reached by MutaKing's ovie was Hydra's base. He was going with Hydralisk's at this point in time with 3 sunkens as defence near his peon (Or mineral) line. [HK]Phoenix had a start not unlike MutaKing as his ramp was heavily gaurded at the start with bunkers/Marines and siege tanks closely followed.
I erected a couple of bunkers at my ramp a little later than [HK]Phoenix and was glad he used his units as defense and not attack as both myself and MutaKing were lacking in the units department. I teched quickly to tanks and sieged 3 of them on my cliff above my expansion. A bunker was placed at the entrance to my exp'n and was backed up with Marines and Medics. A CC quickly rose from the ground and SCV's were produced from both and put to mining purposes.
(The following happened while my expansion was going up)At this point I glanced at my Allies base and was treated with a glorious sight. He also had his natural exp'n with a couple of sunkens and lings waiting out the front of it. But what I liked was the Spire with the 12 Mutas idly hovering beside it.
MutaKing: I'm going to scout Hydra's mineral line with my 12 Mutas, ok?
[HK]Grin'in: Fine with me :)
MutaKing then proceeded to check Hydra's mineral line with his Mutas and soon found that he didn't have a mineral line! I don't think Hydra was too happy about this because promptly after the dissapearance of his drones he disconnected!
[HK]Phoenix: Stupid gay newbie! - (Or something like that)
So now it was a 2v1 and all that was needed to kill [HK]Phoenix was containment and time. The game was ours! But we were dealt a rude shock!
With more confidence now MutaKing and myself organise an attack on [HK]Phoenix. I will go in the front door, mainly as a distraction. Then soon afterwards MutaKing would fly in with his Mutas and destroy what he can. But it didn't work that way. My marines and medics were smacked down by [HK]Phoenix's tanks that were on his cliff. I didn't even get to knock! Without some form of distraction, even a little distraction, MutaKing went in alone. He did do a little damage, but nothing lasting. We found out at this point that [HK]Phoenix had taken his natural exp'n.
Everyone builds up forces again and MutaKing expands. I start the production of two starports after realizing I didn’t have one! Oopps…….
At this point in time [HK]Phoenix thought it would be funny to drop 2 tanks above my natural expansion with about 10 wraiths as support. Because of my late production of the starports (I now have a further two building, that makes four now) I didn’t have enough wraiths to nullify this little drop. So I dropped 12 marines and 4 medics on the platform where the two sinister tanks where destroying my precious SCV’s. I managed to kill 1 tank and a few wraiths before my little force was dismissed. Thankfully this attacks only achievement was killing a few SCV’s and my little drop force. He placed the tanks too far away to reach my CC and by the time he unsieged his only tank left and brought it closer I had enough wraiths with cloak upgraded to wipe out his little stand. I rebuilt SCV’s and continued on my merry way.
The production of wraiths continued until I had 24 of them and placed them on control. I intended these to be used in containing [HK]Phoenix. I at this point had scraped the last few scraps on blue mineral from the barren ground at my main base so I figured [HK]Phoenix couldn't be far behind.
With comsat I systematically checked all mineral and gas points as soon as the energy bars reached 50. The last place I scanned (The bottom right island) produced a great oppertunity for me to hurt [HK]Phoenix. What I saw where two CC's landing with only about 12 wraiths and two Science Vessals. I immediatly sent my 24 wraiths along with two SV's I had produced lately and slaughtered his attempt at expanding.
MutaKing is Expanding like hell taking basically all the remainding expandtion points except the one above my natural, so I expanded there for my recsource inputs were starting to run dry.
We decided that enough is enough and an attacking force was readied for battle, the final showdown. MutaKing had many Gaurdians with Devourer support as well as a huge group of overlords filled with many tasty treats such as Lings, Hydras and Lurkers. He came from the back. I had a puny marine and medic army (I say puny because I now have 10 BC's building at home and minerals were hard to come by because MutaKing had all the expandtion points.) along with my now 18 wraiths. I came from the side.
[HK]Phoenix declared GG and we returned the polite response, GG. I didn't need those BC's afterall, dammit! But the next thing I know [HK]Phoenix makes another statement:
[HK]Phoenix: I'm still alive!
[HK]Phoenix: WOW!
He managed to hold back a force of that magnitude by himself! Even he couldn't believe it! Looks like I'll get to use my BC's afterall. (Sorry for the lack of detail in this last attack we made. At the time I didn't have a BR in mind and because I thought we had it in the bag I didn't take much notice.)
[HK]Phoenix decided to deal out some punishment of his own and drops a bunch of marines from two dropship on two of MutaKings unprotected expansions. They both fall quickly and the dropships then retreat back to it's home base in fear of losing it's precious cargo to some Mutas.
I now have 4 BC's ready and I give orders to check out [HK]Phoenix's base to see if he's up to anything. I find that he has expanded to the 3:00 position (The one closer to the middle than the main one) and I well placed bunker and some turrents prevented me from attacking with only 4BC's. So I pick off some stray buildings not protected by turrents and wait for MutaKing to rebuild his forces. I also manage to drop 16 marines at the back of [HK]Phoenix's base and kill a factory (Plus machine shop) and a depot before overwhelmed by his superior numbers of marines plus medics.
I now take a chance to look at my allies base and find he has quite a few fully upgraded zerglings being made. It looked like a chapter out of a Monster Ranchers game with more zerglings adding to the pile every second or so.
I now had 10 BC's and had them rallied just outside [HK]Phoenix's base. Unfortunatly one of my BC's drifted too close to a supply depot and started shooting it. "I'M NOT READY!" I though and tried to retreat my BC's a.s.a.p, but [HK]Phoenix Was sending out his marine/medic/ghost force out already. But lucky for me he only managed to lock down 3 BC’s and all his troops came out in a line. So I shot them one by one like at an execution! 2 BC’s gave their lives for the cause.
The outcome was inevitable as I had thought from the moment Hydra disconnected and [HK]Phoenix’s last stand was short. MutaKing came through with his lings, they tore down anything in their way swiftly and quickly. “Plow the road boys!” comes to mind right about now. My 8BC’s picked off those annoying hard the reach tanks and GG’s were exchanged. We decided to allie at the end as [HK]Phoenix had been hard done by because of his stupid gay arse newbie partner that had left him in a 2v1. He did defend very well and we all enjoyed the game (The main thing in any game you play is to enjoy it!)
Although it would have been better if I’d hadn’t had pulled TERRAN!

Never play as Terran if your name is [HK]Grin’in
Make sure that before you choose a partner you make sure he’s not a foppin retard!
Hydra is a dis’ing freak!
Always try even after your partner bails out because it might end up being a fun game afterall
