From Dictionary.com...

Fox: n. A crafty, sly, or clever person.

Bane: n. Slayer, cause of ruin or destruction.

After having observed several Fox^1 games (and having seen him rocked his opponents' socks in all of them), I finally decided that I should BR him, and dispel any notion that Fox can't back up his inspiring ratership privilege on the court.  For an opponent we found Bane, a NoHunters Reg who would no doubt put up a worthwhile fight.  That he did, and what I watched was a spectacular back-and-forth grudge match with both players persistently exploiting the other's weaknesses. Um... Gogogogogo...!

The Perpetually Lost Temple

Fox^1 - Random Protoss - 12
Bane - Random Zerg - 6

ProtectorOfAiur letting his feelings known about Fox^1:

Build orders were fairly standard, Bane taking the early expansion and Fox putting down two gates and pumping zealots.  First contact came while Bane was already morphing his first hatchery.  Upon Jobe-the-Probe's immediate attack, Bane commented on the race matchup now apparent:

Discovery

What exactly does Bane mean by this? Why did he have to use the most ambiguous of smilies to describe the situation?

In any case, Fox decided to stop the expansion as best he could with rally-pointed zealots.

Bane was well aware of how difficult it would be to stop the early expansion with a light flow of zealots, so to add to Fox's

frustration Bane morphed is a second hatchery right next to the expansion!  After a furious attempt utilizing a total of five zealots and a probe, Bane repelled the attack with two successfully morphed sunkens and persistent lings.

Capitalizing on the victory Bane further took his mineral-only expansion; only zerglings and sunkens were being used for these quick expansions.

For the next several minutes, both sides were relatively passive.  Fox took his natural, defending it with a heavy force of zealots, high templars, and a few canons.

Fox attempts to halt the expansion.

Bane, on the other hand, began another expansion at the 9' main, bringing his total number of bases to four.  He had half a dozen hatcheries up and running by during this moratorium in the fighting, and seemed to be powering his way through the game; constantly making a very mixed balance of units.

Scouting and expansion on both sides.

Fox also seemed intent on powering his way through the game, although he showed a slight preference for zealots with the leg upgrade over turbo-goons.  There was a conspicuous absence of reavers in his amassing force, however a multitude of high templars more than made up for it.

In any case, the action was about to kick off with a bang...

Bring the yellow tape!

Fox probably decided that an unchallenged zerg would be much more capable of rabid expansion than a protoss, and carefully gathered his army of zealots, dragoos, and high templars to the middle of the map (is that the temple??).  Once the huge force was in place, and an observer was brought south, Fox attacked.  Bane seemed to instinctively know this would be the first battle sight, and had been keeping the brunt of his army there up until now.
The first big brawl!

Bane actually won this battle, with a a pair of mutalisks being the only survivors!  He did however lose several sunkens in the melee, but hey... those things are meant to be killed :).

Capitalizing on the decimated zerg force, Fox quickly routed a few zealots and a pair of freshly-baked archons to whip up some ruckus at nine o'clock.

Power overwhelming!

Bane could only counter with the surviving mutalisks, and some other low-tech units he could hastily morph.  This was not enough for the archons, however, and and the hatchery at the 9 natural was lost.

It takes a while to kill a hatchery with only a couple of units, however, and Bane had been able to climb the tech tree to guardians.  By the time Fox's archons found there way up the ramp a flock turned them the blue blazers into memories.  Bane then went on the attack with the guardians, pushing everything Fox had right back to the doors of his main, while Bane re-took the 9' natural, as well as the 3' natural and main.

Bane saves the day. Bane ahead on the economics race.

Fox was well aware he was losing in the economy race, and ceased zealot production in favor or dragoons.  Now with a multitude of gateways at work, a large mass of dragoons stormed through the 3' bases.  Bane quickly raced his hydras to the scene, but two very well placed psi pstorms eradicated the two-dozen.  Fox had managed to halt the zerg expansion at last.

Although Bane managed to kill the dragoon pack with a flock of guardians as the dragoon exited the razed bases, Fox sent a fresh force of zealots to the 6' min only in an attempt to keep the pressure on.

This proved to be the turning point in the game

Bane loses the three o'clock.
Banes main comes under assault.

as it was the first attack Bane could not repel.  Fox supplemented his squad with some fresh reinforcements promptly after leveling the base, and drove unstopped up the ramp and to the main.

Bane had, in fact, begun to move his tech tree to his expansion at 9', but holding on to his main would be a crucial victory nonetheless.

With few units available save for drones, Bane did what any frightened puppy would do, and began to morph a disgusting mass of sunken colonies.

The desperate act did pay off in that it spared him the loss of his tech tree long enough to rebuild it at an expansion.  What it didn't do, however, was
Creep with me, as I call through the hood maniac lunatic call me Snoop Eastwood. (from Ain't Nothing but a G-Thang)

Get Bane out of a completely defensive position for the remainder of the game.  His last gambit was one finally desperate attack on Le Rénard to try and halt the Fox assault.

Using a force of nine lurkers from the 9', Bane faithfully marched them across the terrain to Fox's main, stopping briefly to assassinate a pack of zealots with no detector support.
Bane's final strike.

Triumph of Le Rénard

With nothing left in his arsenal, and his economy in ruins,
Bane was forced to concede the game.  He blamed it on "powering too hard."  It did seem that he had spread his forces far to this in his expansion race, and Fox took full advantage of this opportunity.

After Bane had left the game, however, Fox seemed to take sadistic enjoyment in first raping me (observer) and then hunting down Bane's now soulless ovies.

Bah! GG Fox!
