My Opponent (Nooby Uv Dewm) : Terran
The scene was set and the impending battle promised to be brutal, on the charred landscapes of Ashrigo, a destiny was to be decided.
Being a Protoss veteran as I am, I opted for a mass of early Zealots, being much more effective vs Terran than Dark Templars are. I scouted the map with my 9th Probe, and eventually found the Terran at the top left of the map, but only after I scouted the other 2 expansion points first. It was a good thing that I made the mass Zealots, as Nooby
suddenly rushed me with 12 SCVs. Their fusion cutters drove hard into my Zealot's armor, and I was barely able to fight them off. They did massive damage to my Pylons and Nexus, and the damn things managed to kill my Gateway! (See image below) Damn Terran inbalance of having 60 hp peon units! I think that Blizzard should stop listening to people who whine about 75 energy Psi-Storms, and Disruption web, and focus on the real problems - 60 hp SCVs and Vultures having a speed upgrade. Well at least Spider Mines are absolutely useless.
I was in deep trouble. Thankfully, my opponent didn't follow up his devastating attack with speed upgraded Vultures, otherwise I would have been Terran meat once again. I replaced my Gateway, and built a couple more Gateways. I then built a Forge, and built 10 Photon
Cannons at my choke. This is a pretty much unstoppable strategy, and is so efficient, by defending your choke, you ALSO defend your base, Peons and all by denying the enemy entry to your base until they can bust through your chokepoint defense. And because the cannons detect,
you don't have to worry about nasty stuff, like Nukes. I was wondering what my opponent was up to, so I sent out a doom squad of 3 Zealots. Oh? What's this? An expansion guarded by a paltry force of 7 firebats. As if he could hope to kill my 3 Zealots, which have 480 hp with his 7 firebats which have only 350 hp. He ran them away (See
image below), but to no avail as he ran into the map's edge. He Stimmed them, and I laughed as now his 350 hp force was a 280 hp force. Needless to say, my Zealots kicked butt and took names. I attacked the Command Center and Barracks he had there, he tried to lift off, but everytime his building started to fly up, my Zealots would jump on it and weigh it down, meaning mr Nooby Terran couldn't run his buildings away (another Terran inbalance). I made sure to preserve
the Com Sat station he had there, and I built a Nexus on it so I could get the overpowered Terran Com Sat technology (See image below).
Successfully having turned yet another Terran inbalance against them, I started to harvest from the expansion that I had won. Nooby musta been getting pretty desperate for an expansion now, because I didn't see any further units from him for quite awhile. I got the expansion up, and decided to make mass Corsairs. I accidentally forgot about my ridiculously inbalanced Com Sat station, and when I remembered I had it, I used it on Nooby's main base.
YIKES! 12 BATTLECRUISERS!
I quickly aborted my Corsair strategy, although they are great vs Battlecruisers, they are too slow and expensive to build. I instead did the only thing I could do - I erected a Templar archives, and started to make mass Dark Templars. I know, I know, you all at this point are thinking "He's going to make Dark Archons and mind control all those BattleCruisers". I thought about that myself, but I'm not
one to follow silly strategies such as that, so instead I sent those Dark Templars right into his base. What a fool! He didn't have any Missile Turrets! So my Dark Templars proceeded to hack those overpowered BattleCruisers right out of the sky! (See image below)
That was pretty much it for Nooby Uv Dewm and his Capital Fleet brought down by my perfect strategy of Dark Templars. Being an ever good sport, Nooby had a special message for me before I ended the game. (See image below)
LESSONS LEARNED
- Terrans are inbalanced.
- SCVs are inbalanced (60 hp! WTF).
- Vultures (especially speed upgraded ones) are inbalanced.
- Com Sat is inbalanced.
- BattleCruisers are inbalanced.
- Firebats suck Zealots own them.
- Always take a Terran Com station if you can.
- Dark Templars do 40 normal damage, making them perfect for taking down BattleCruiser's high armor count.
- Cannons placed strategically in the choke will defend against anything. |
