Welcome one and all to my 3rd battlereport, anyways, enjoy!

Introducing everybody

It had been a couple days since I had played non-x17 games so I was hanging out in clan ~gosu waiting for somebody to wake up and play me. This person had the rather musical name of EternalMelody and he was the one who asked for the game so I hastily typed "right here" followed by "cer1/1"

No countdown timer this time because I was listening to MP3s(POD ownz) so I stared at his race seeing if it were to change, it remained at random, as did mine.

Map: Lost Temple Gamei(Sorry people, I'm trying!)

Players:

KeepeR-InSaNiTy(me) recieved the blueprotoss legions at 9:00 position

EternalMelody(him) recieved the brownterran military at the 6:00 position

Get on with it already!

We both started the game not knowing what each other's race was and with half decent clones.

I had begun the game with my usual PvR build of 8 pylon, 10 gateway, 12 assimilator, 14 Cybercore(2 by 2, never noticed that before) as this allowed me to get goons vs protoss or terran and quick sair/gas vs any zerg foes. I sent a scouting probe clockwise at 8 and hotkeyed it to 1 for harrassing/easier scouting.

EternalMelody had chosen to go with the standard terran wallin build order of 9 depot, 11 rax, 12 refinery, 15 depot and after seeing my probe, he proceeded to make a factory at 15 aswell.

Upon discovering his location I placed my probe at the entrance of his natural to see if he was attacking anytime soon. Very little harrassing was done with my dragoons because I had wasted time chasing his SCV around.

I had already teched to observers and started to obtain observer speed for early scouting and so that my observers could live to tell about contact with turrets. At this point I had 2 gateways making dragoons. Upon recieving my 7th dragoon and having spare minerals, I decided to expand to my natural and queue up a shuttle to counter any cliffing. I shortly after began a Citadel of Adun to get speedy zealots.

Awwww, that part's over!?

Seeing that he had begun to float a Command Center to his natural I tapped the 1 key(my 10 dragoons were hotkeyed here) and sent them to his natural, however, it was much less successful then I could've hoped. Destroying a take or 2 and losing 7 dragoons and doing little damage to the CC, 'twas a move I had regretted.

I began gathering troops at his mineral only to contain him and expanded to my mineral-only natural as well, getting ready for some serious Goon/Zel pumping.

EternalMelody had placed some tanks at the cliff over his mineral-only and began to ominously float an engineering bay towards my troops. When the red went off on my minimap I reacted quickly by tapping the 1 and 2 buttons and right-clicking, however, I had made a fatal error. My lips parted slowly as the word "fuuuuck" passed by them, I had forgotten to hotkey my units. I quickly moved my mouse over my units on the minimap and franticly grabbed them in and moved them towards the center, but the damage had been done and plenty of my troops were either wounded or dead, but whats worse? ANOTHER fatal error! I had forgotten to change my rally points further north and only noticing this when a couple zealots ran into the range of tanks. I then pounded on the hotkeys and began changing the rally points of my gateways.

5 Dark Templar had just exitted the gateways and headed towards where the rest of my army was, seeing his lack of detection(1 turret) I sent them in. I managed to kill 1 tank but by a stroke of misfortune, his goliaths had clutted the path to the turret and as soon as I right clicked on it, 4 of my 5 DTs vanished.

At this point I expanded to the 12:00 main and natural and then sent the probe to the 3:00 main and natural for more expansions.

Just keep messin up...

My forces were standing just outside of his mineral only when one of them was hit by a shot fired by a tank, this caused a chain reaction of units moving into his sieged tanks and goliaths and getting mowed down before I could react because once again, I had forgotten to hotkey my units, I knew I had lost at this point
because that kind of loss while doing no damage unless you are pumping out of many more upgrades, means defeat, however, I was going to hold on.

He attemped to attack northward with his goliaths but only managed to kill a few zealots as a flank from a couple goons and about 8 zealots that I had made killed the majority of them.

Now he unsieged 4 of his tanks and headed eastward towards my 3:00 expansions, I could not stop this attack as by the time my units could have arrived, he'd have the cliff and it'd be suicide.

While EternalMelody was attacking my 3:00 expansions he sent 6 vultures towards my 12:00 main to kill the probes, the idiocy of the AI on dragoons allowed them to kill more probes then they should've, all this had guaranteed a loss.

I hotkeyed 3 control groups of random protoss units and spead them among the center to disallow scouting with units and the ability to flank his troops.

I had accidently sent the group set to 1 into his army but this time I HAD hotkeyed my troops so could react quickly, losing none, but this is also when he decided to go on the offensive.

I flanked his army from a 180° radius and killed the majority of his army instantly, but durring this he had sent the forces from the 3:00 main to my gateways that were just outside of 12:00.

Seeing as I had done enough damage to his main group I removed troops from there and headed north to quell the other threat, but due to another mistake on my part, I did not flank like I planned to. This caused the deaths of many units that would have survived and he had come out on top.

He sent a small group of 6 goliaths to my 12:00 main to destroy it later vultures arrived, I had sent 4-5 DTs to stop this attempt at destroying my expansion, even though EternalMelody had detection from a nearby Science Vessel, I managed to kill them with the massive blows
that the DTs deliver.

Could Cer1dan be anymore dead?

EternalMelody made an attempt to take the 3:00 main but I had prevented that
with a single DT as he had no detection, I then sent my goon force to kill the goliaths atop the ramp.

EternalMelody had then sent his terran forces of gleaming metal northwards,
this force consisted mostly of goliaths with a few tanks here and there, I had poorly placed my units so when this attack came, the majority of my dragoons got stuck behind the terrain at the center making great targets for the tanks.

Thankfully when they reached my gateways I had forgetten about 7 dragoons there and they destroyed the goliaths in no time. I had then sent these dragoons to destroy the terran military to the south but being forced to go single file through the terrain, this proved ineffective.

Not noticing that Eternal Melody had brought in reenforcements, I sent in the few zealots and dragoons I had just produced, only to be slaughtered by the bolstered terran force.

I had started to gather a large Goon/Zel/DT army and decided to make an ill-fated attack due to his forces continual stream of reinforcements.

He decided to attack my 9:00 mineral only expansion and by accidently leaving troops at the gateways at 12:00 durring the last attack and a small force attack his flank with the a large Goon/Zel/DT force attacking his front, I managed to
nearly destroy his army.

Almost over

Any further attempts to defend myself were futile, I had created a small force thinking it would destroy his army yes it got polverized, after he destroyed my last remaining resource nodes and my scouting the 2 expansions at 3:00 he had created with my shuttle(remember that?) and also scouting the island expo, which after seeing the replay, I saw he had it near the beginning of the game. GGs were exchanged and I left the game.

Lessons Learned

Yeah, I decided to be a poser and add lessons learned section as well.

1. NEVER forget to hotkey your units, It can cost you the game

2. Make good use of the minimap, it can save you tons of units

3. Always flank when you have the forces to do so, it can win you the game

4. Continually scout for expansions, this includes the islands, had I scouted the
island expansion he had gotten so early, I might've won.

5. Don't forget to expand to islands too, it can give you the extra minerals you
need

6. Dont attack a terran in their natural, the terrain advantage will get you killed

Mommmmmmyyyyy...It's ooooveeeer *cries*

I decided to make this section my trade mark so here ya go.

Aye, ‘tis true, this report is coming to an end, well...what ya gonna do. Your probably either gonna

1)Quickly click on comments in hopes of getting 1st.

2)Help me get better by giving advice

Or

3)Decide "well, I might as well flame him for wasting my time."

And for the people who didn’t pick 1, 2 or 3 you’ll probably pick

4) Close your browser seeing as its pointless to do any of the above.

So yeah, cya round peeps

This has been MY production.

Btw, download the rep here.

Also, I didnt smacktalk DinoDin this time, though it was so hard not to.
