"Quotation from the Book of Eldritch;
'And the lord spake thusly; 'Thou shalt have a Carrier, and thou shalt destroy many. And in this holy baptism by fire, thou shalt freeth many souls of their unholy bondage to such evil cults as the Aurorans, the Polaris. Then, thou shalt be raised above all, to such heights as thou darest not dream.' And then EldritchEvil, cowering before the lord, spake thusly; 'Indeed, O Lord, I shalt do as thou asks. And many shalt fear my name.'

The report I'm about to report right now is on a three game series about me versus some pro dude named Hutu)Go(. I got to say, he is really good. Better than all you nohunters people. (Well... maybe not all of you) He has a good reputation, even though he isn't well known and he really kicks ass!

I was eager for another weekend of starcraft after a hard week at school. I quickly ran home, thrilled school was over, and in a few minutes I would be on my comp ready to go. Well, first I had a light snack, I was hungry. Then my mom told me to do my homework, boring. Then I after I read some reports and ate my dinner, I finally booted up my comp. It turned out to be a few hours before I turned my comp on.

I logged onto battle.net and entered my favourite channel - channel Clan ~NoHunters. Of course, it was nearly empty so I decided, why not, pubbie? I scrolled down the long list of games and came across a melee game called 1v1@Temple. So original. I joined up. He creator, Hutu)Go(, didn't even say anything and started the game. I offered a hearty "gl hf" but he did not reply. And at the last minute, I saw him choose Protoss.

I randommed, giving me the advantage in the early game, and ended up with terran. Now terran isn't exactly my best race, so I knew I was going to lose. All I knew was that he was protoss, nothing else. Well, knowing he was protoss, I quickly started off with a basic wall-in, with a depot atop the ramp and a barracks shortly following and scouted with the barracks-builder. I added a depot, while I got a refinery, both on 12. I then added a factory on 16. My scv entered his base and found dual gates with zealots hopping out of them. Lucky for me, I had my wall-in.

I had two marines behind my wall-in and I was beginning a machine-shop add-on and another factory. After my add-on is completed, I began a tank and began research of siege mode. Just as I began another marine, a zealot and a probe climbed my ramp. They obviously didn't see a wall-in first and were forced to retreat.

I felt relieved he went dual gates instead of goon rushing, or even dark templar rush. I had three marines now, and he decided he wanted to attack again, so he ran up my ramp with two zealots this time. I kept my marines behind my wall-in and even sent an scv or two to repair any damages. Unfortunately, one marine ran past the bunker and chased the zealots, he was killed right in front of my wall-in. A tank was being built now. He was driven off again, and I was safe for the moment. I started another tank and a vulture. I was fully defended now, except against any dark templar. So I thought about it and began researching mines as well. I began build of an academy.

I kept pumping metal out of both factories and was now thinking, why not try that sexy Deep6 strategy against this guy? So I did. I built another barracks and began pumping marines and medics with tanks. I began a machine shop for my other factory and waited for the perfect attack time. I scouted to see if it was all right to attack, and this is what I found.

I now realized that attacking was futile, because I only saw 2 goons and a zealot that protected his new natural. So I sent my whole force, which consisted of 7 marines, two tanks, a medic, a vulture and a repair-mechanics scv.

I gathered my whole terran force outside his choke. I laid some mines down and sieged my tanks, which vulture and marines protecting them. My scv was ready to repair any damages. My vulture died first. And his forces charged in. His two zealots were easily dealt with, but then, about 10 goons charged in. Mines scurried out of the ground and killed a few goons. My scv ran away, due to fire, stupid scv. And my marines were doing all they could. But one medic was not enough to support all the marines and they quickly died. My tanks fired off shots at the protoss defenders. But fresh reinforcements arrived from Hutu's base and quickly blew my tanks up.

Well, I had lost my whole terran force of 7 marines, 1 medic, 1 vult, and 2 tanks. And it was wierd, because when I scouted, he didn't seem to have that many goons. He must have had a lot of gateways. One mine was left at his choke, luckily, to spot for any troop movement and maybe even stop any probes from getting out to expand elsewhere. My scv was kept alive too. :) Earlier on, I had built a starport for science vessels, and the ultimate shield-killer - The EMP Shockwave. :) (At this point I turned on vision for Hutu and took a screenshot, for a minimap update, then took the vision off, so fog-of-war was back on :)

Mini-Map Update!

So, I had another bulky force of metal, since I knew Deep6 wouldn't work. :( I began another factory. I started an armory and lifted one of my useless barracks and sent it scouting. ;) I kept pumping those tanks and those scvs. I knew I also had to expand, too, since he had expanded. So I began a command center in my main so I could lift and land it into place.

I started an engineering bay, for turrets and sent some vultures down the ramp and to my choke. I laid down six mines at the chokepoint and sent the vultures scouting. Both vultures entered the choke and I found a shitload of goons and a few zealots. He was obviously in preparation of an attack.

I sieged a bunch of tanks on my cliff, in case he was attacking. My command center was done, so I lifted it and landed it into place at my natural. Now I was beginning to make goliaths together with tanks. I maynarded 12~ scvs to my natural and began mining there as well. I attached a control tower add-on for my starport and began making dropships. I was readying a drop, because I had, at that time, 8 gollies, and 15 tanks. My barracks, the floating one, entered the 3 main and found a probe there. Ah-ha! He was expanding there now. I landed my barracks and began two marines, to kill that little probe. I added another starport in my main and waited for enough dropships to pull off a wicked tank/goliath drop.

I put two turrets at my choke for detection purposes. I chased his probe off from the 9 main with a new marine. I built two more there two watch for anymore probes. Unfortunately, instead of probes, 3 zealots and two goons came and attacked my marines. Can you believe it? My marines mananged to befall one zealot! :) I was forced to lift my barracks and when it finally flew out of goon fire, it was burning down. :(

Yes, I had a shitload of tanks and goliaths and I wanted to use them. How? I decided to attack Hutu again. Yes, with all those goliaths and tanks. Their combined power might have been just what I needed to win me the game. I scouted him with a tank. ^^ I found a lot of goons and some zealots protecting his 6 mineral-only. So I sent them all down the ramp, even the sieged ones, and sent them down. He was expanding like a whore, and all I knew was that he was outresourcing me bad. I needed to take out an expansion or he would win the game. :( So I sent all my tanks and goliaths down. And a mighty battle ensued between the terrans and the protoss at the Temple, the protoss shrine.

Our forces clashed together at the middle of the temple. I sieged my rear tanks and kept my forward tanks unsieged. My goliaths protected against any zealots that came. Goons with extended range are no thanks indeed. I was really wrong to underestimate him. He had surrounded the temple, on both sides of the ramparts, with goons. So he had more protoss troops than it really looked. So my forces were pimped in the middle of a lot of protoss guys and were clashed down, even though my tanks got a ton of shots off the protoss. My goliaths also did all they could, but died. :(

Yes, I have a lot of income coming in, but where to spend it on. :( My burning barracks blew up at the 9 natural, just as a marine there, finished. Earlier on, during the Battle For The Temple, I had constructed another command center in my main, which I lifted now and floated it to the island expansion, next to the 12:00 main. Just then, a probe entered the 9 natural and began a nexus there. My marine there killed the probe and began shooting its rifle on the warping nexus. Then, my "reign" was over, as zealots came and ripped my marine apart.

So I knew he was expanding there now. I loaded up two dropships. One was filled with tanks and the other was filled with gollies. The terrans unloaded directly on the cliff that overlooked the 3 natural. I sieged my tanks on the rim, around the vaspene geyser. I then sent my goliaths patrolling the plateau, securing me against any air/shuttled troops. Now, him, being somewhat smart, somewhat stupid, flew two shuttles full of protoss troops, and dropped the load right next to my tanks. My goliaths were sundered by the dragoons, and fired at them instead. Then the familiar "swish, swish" could be heard, as the DT quickly swiped up my tanks. The tanks were dead, and I could do nothing for the goliaths. Luckily, my tanks managed to destroy the nexus before they were destroyed. :)

So my cliff was denied by goons and dark templars, but the game was far from over. My new island expansion command center finally landed and I was ready to begin mining there, too. Unfortunately, on observer was there watching my expansion. :( Can you spot the obs?

Anyways, I was now thinking of going battlecruisers. Yes, battlecruisers. The terran behemoth of the sky. Man, they own. Anyways, before I made any, I was going to make sure I would have enough money to make some. My main had dried up during the last battles. So I ferried all those scvs across the waters to the new expansion. I quickly began mining and I also built a refinery as well. And for island defence, I built a turret ring around the rim of the island.

I began a science facility. And added more starports to make a total of five, and attacked add-ons to all of them. I got a physics lab add-on to get battlecruisers as quickly as possible. I began 5 battlecruisers right there and then.

Just then, a shuttle, obviously containing protoss troops, entered my island expo and quickly dropped its cargo. An archon, a high templar and a blur jumped out. The Blur was a dark templar, of course. My scvs died pretty quickly. :( It would still be awhile before my bc's popped out of the starport. I sent my scvs to attack, but it was a stupid idea, because archons just own them. :( I lifted my command center and flew it away.

My bc's completed and I sent them to destroy the Island Invaders. I sent five of them to my old island expansion. The archon was busy killing my refinery, so it didn't bother with my battlecruisers. I assassinated the high templar first, then killed the archon, who actually managed to destroy my refinery. I began more battlecruisers in my main. I still knew there was a lone dark templar around on the island somewhere. So I scanned the top corner, and there is was, hidden away in the shadows. I killed it with ease. I flew my command center back and landed it into place once again. :) I began reconstruction of my scvs.

Now he thinks he can take on my main as well. He sent his 5 goons, 4 zealots, and 4 dark templars into my natural, instead of climbing up my ramp. I was planning to expand again, so I had made another command center. My tanks opened fire and 2 zealots died. The dark templar easily destroyed both my command center. My scvs were running around. With a quick scan, I managed to take out the last dark templars - splash damage killed two. His goons were no match for my tanks, on upper ground, and they fell, in a blue pool of... blood? :)

Now I had a good army of battlecruisers. 8 is a good number, especially when used with other units, like tanks. ;) So far, I hadn't done any good damage, except destroy his expansion command center. My island expansion was back online and I was rebuilding my scvs. :( I rebuilt my command center at my 12 natural, and my scvs started mining there again.

I was on the verge of attack again. With 9 battlecruisers, 8 tanks, 4 goliaths and 1 science vessel, I moved out of my base. My forces moved out and ran smack into white's army of goons/zealots/templars. He must have been surprised, like I was, because we were attacking at the same time. :) The battle clashed at the temple.

I sieged my tanks just as the battle started. My battlecruisers randomly shot at any protoss, mainly goons. Templars cast a bunch of storms. I quickly clicked over to my science vessel and cast an EMP on a large group of goons. Those ones fell quickly. Tanks blasted their arclite siege cannons. It was the most confusing battle that had happened in the game so far. But fresh reinforcements kept on arriving from Hutu's base. :( I guessed he was a macro whore, but I wasn't focused on macro, I was focused on my attack mainly. More storms flew, and some of my tanks blew up. My goliaths were already dead, and the only ones left were a bunch of tanks and my battlecruisers. :(

As you saw, storms really owned my battlecruisers. And with goons surrounding the bc's, it wasn't really worth moving them around. ;) Anyways, my island expansion was back online. I kept rebuilding my battlecruisers an all and some tanks for cliff defence. I was outresourced, and I knew he was going to win. :(

Hutu tried attacking me again, but my tanks behind my wall-in prevented that. I kept making battlecruisers, and even made some more tanks. Soon, I had a good solid defence in my main, and a good, strong offense as well. Suddenly, another shuttle flew into my island expansion and dropped four dark templars there. With a quick scan, they were revealed. I quickly sent some battlecruisers over. Four battlecruisers quickly took care of the dark templars there and stood on defence.

I now had almost a full control of battlecruisers, after I rebuilt it all. Suddenly, the message "Your base is under attack!" boomed out from the speakers. I quickly hit the shift-key and I was now looking at my island expansion, falling to a group of carriers. :( And unless I could stop them, I would be dead. I used the only sensible counter-attack I had - Battlecruisers. Yes, I had almost a full control group of them now. So I sent them off to intercept the carriers in their paths.

My 8 battlecruisers fought of the 12 carriers. Interceptors flew around madly, getting free hits at the bc's. I wasn't aiming for the interceptors though. I was aiming for the actual carrier, which gave me a disadvantage. Interceptors are smaller, and weaker, with out them, a carrier is nothing. :( In the end, he had won with 4 carriers and I had nothing.

I knew it was over, so I conceded the game with a hearty "gg".

Here are the Scores:

Lessons Learned

1) I could have expanded more, when he was, so he wouldn't have outresourced me. :(
2) I need to learn to micro more, because in this game, it was just horrible. I couldn't siege tanks at the right time. Goliaths just ran in, with out attack-move, and die. And other things.
3) Never lose too many scvs. I learned this lesson, dearly. For when my scvs were stuck up in my natural and DTs were swiping at them, I should've retreated them into turrets and tank fire. :(
4) I might've been able to take out his expansions, instead of his main force down at the 6 mineral-only. If I did that, he wouldn't have outresourced me.
5) Storm Owns. Never let someone storm you too much, unless in melee combat (he'll end up storming himself, too ;).
6) When he attacked with his carriers, I could've had some EMP ready and shocked those interceptors. Then destroyed the interceptors instead of the actual carrier. After all, a carrier is nothing with out interceptors.

Whew! This took me a long time. About 10 times more time than my other Battlereport, which you can find here. I know the pics may not be aligned properly. I am planning to fix all the bad stuff in my next battlereport. Stay tuned for Game Two! :)
