Suddenly, as the four were plummeting into the darkness, the ground roared as the giant computer console exploded. The pitch black void lit up brilliantly, showing the void to be a giant earthen cave beneath the surface. Great pieces of earth fell all around them as the shockwave tore through the very fabric of the planets surface.

The cave became scorchingly hot and bright as the explosion grew in tenacity. James, as if by instict, turned his head towards the light and saw a giant fireball hurling towards the group at an incredible pace.

"We got some problems ya'all!" James screamed out, though it was barely heard by the others.

Kelvena looked at James then slowly turned her head towards the light and saw the giant fireball hurling closer and closer to the group, incinerating any clods of earth in its path.

"What are we go-" Kelvena began to say, but the giant man quickly interupted her.

"We shall be alright m'lady, do not worry." He said in a very sober tone.

The giant man slammed his foot into rocky pit walls causing the group to slingshot towards the sharp rocky wall. Kelvena let out a silent scream as they crashed into the wall but to her surprise...there was no crash.

The five sling shotted into what appeared to be a narrow hallway. They looked around startled for a moment but were soon interupted as the fireball scorched its way down the pit, causing the hallway to become intensely hot.

"That was close..." Kelvena said softly, struggling to catch her breath amidst the near intolerable heat.

"We are safe m'lady," The giant man said solemnly, as if nothing at all happened.

"Thank you...who are you...?" Kelvena said staring deep into the lifeless eyes of the giant man.

"I am your servent m'lady, I am Kane." He said, addressing himself.

"...Kane?! He was the general of the blood clan in the days of Reiwen! he served directly under her!" Zeltior announced shocked at his own discovery.

"You have come back m'lady. Come, time is of the essence, the enemy is on the move." Kane said motioning down the hallway.

"I am...he has me confused with Reiwen..." Kelvena said in deep thought.

"Kane, we must return to the ravine and reunite with Sabhur!" Xaniir said, willing to accept Kane as a member of the group.

"The enemy is on the move, the ravine no longer exists." Kane said as he began traveling down the now dark hallway.

"...What?! What of Sabhur?!" Xaniir said shocked by the news.

"If he is lucky, he is dead." Kane said while motioning the others to follow him.

"I...I refuse to believe it..." Xaniir said to himself while catching up with Kane.

With that, the group of five began navigating the darkness with Kane leading the way. Kane strode confidently, as if he had travelled down this path many times, the others, however, struggled to keep up.

The path had few turns, but was very long. The heat from the fireball still had not subsided making the trip that much more difficult. James had already succumbed to a limp as a sharp piece of rock had lacerated his left leg.

Suddenly James stopped and gasped. A glazed expression came over his face as he stared off into nothingness petrified. He slowly collapsed on the ground as a sense of tunnel vision took over his eyes.

James...? came from the sweet voice of Kelvena, as James slipped off into unconsciousness

"Is this the new prototype?" A low dark voice sounded off, in a brightly lit circular room, from a very sinister looking man dressed in what appeared to be battle clothes.

"Yes Ziandor, it has nearly matched all of our standards. The raw destructive power itself can easily level the mightiest infidel stronghold." A man dressed in a long lab coat confidently said while displaying what appeared to be a large humanoid battle suit.

"I see, then what is the problem?" Ziandor impatiently asked.

"Up to this point, we have been unsuccessful in creating a functional control mechanism for the prototype. When the chosen pilot takes the helm, his thoughts turn to pure malice." The scientist said noticably less confident.

"Malice will do fine when scourging the infidels. we do not need a weapon that will think, we need a weapon that will destroy! On to phase 2!" Ziandor said very impatiently.

"...Yes sir, phase 2 is well underway sir, follow me." The scientist said as he motioned Ziandor down through a narrow hallway.

The two strode through the cold steel hallway through a set of large steel doors. Inside rested a giant incubation tube with a small worm like creature in the middle. Hundreds of wires and tubes were attached to the creature as it rhythmically pulsated.

"Do enlighten me as to your progress." Ziandor said very cynically.

"Well...we have finally managed to match the DNA from the prototype into what you see here, a living breathing lifeform." The scientist said pointing out the pulsating creature inside the incubation tube.

"I assume this will become a humanoid creature, correct?" Ziandor said anxiosly awaiting the scientists response.

"Though it will take much genetic farming and manipulating, what you see before you will indeed come to look like a zionite." The scientist proudly announced.

"Very good, Project Vedetta shows much promise indeed." Ziandor said smugly.

Without warning, a huge explosion rocked the steel doors leading to the incubation room. All the inhabitants of the room quickly turned their heads and saw the steel doors smoking on the ground, and three shadowy figures emerging from the smoke.

The explosion rocked James from his flashback. He woke to find himself perched up on the powerful shoulders of Kane. The others quickly noticed he had awoken.

"Ugh...hey ya'all...how long have I been out...?" James said rubbing his head.

"Around 3 hours, we were very worried but we decided that we didn't have the time to wait to see if you were alright. Kane offered to carry you where we were going and you have been on his shoulder ever since." Kelvena explained to James as she dabbed the sweat from his forehead with her shirt.

"I had...the wierdest dream...Kane, where are we?" James said trying to make sense of the still very vivid memory of the flashback.

"A powerful weapon is said to be burried here long ago, but this rumor has turned into myth. It is now used as a sanctuary for MAXIMs spawn." Kane explained as they continued walking.

James hopped down from Kanes shoulders and quickly brushed himself off. He looked around a little bit trying to orient himself in the near pitch black darkness. Finally he let out a loud sigh and caught up with the others.

The group walked briskly along the path with no new incident until they reached a small fork on the road.

"The left leads to a dead end, we must take the right path," Kane said without missing a step.

The others quickly followed but right as James reached the junction, his vision once again began blurring. Kelvena turned around just in time to see James collapse on the ground in the middle of the three paths.

"Hurry! They can still find us!" A soft voice called out in the middle of a huge desert.

"Do not worry m'lady! We have escaped!" Came the voice of a man who looked just like Kane, with the same prototype machine in the lab hunched up on his back.

"Thank you Kane...I don't know what I would do if I didn't have your strength..." Came the same voice, coming from a woman who looked much like Kelvena.

"I am your servent Reiwen, and I forever will be." Kane said with a compassionate smile on his face.

"Once again I thank you, but there are other times for giving thanks, now we must find a suitable spot to burry this demon machine!" Reiwen called out as they began making their way through the scorching desert sand.

The sun shown bright above them as they charged through the desert praying they would not be seen. Hours and hours of running through the desert finally ended when Reiwen moved her hand to motion Kane to stop.

"Here...this is where it must be burried..." Reiwen said looking down into the sand.

"Yes...this spot is perfect, I shall start digging right away m'lady." Kane called out as he drew his giant sword from its sheath and began sweeping away the sand.

"We shall..." Reiwen said as she drew her sword and began digging beside Kane.

Once again James woke up on the mighty shoulder of Kane. He looked up and saw Kelvena staring straight at him.

"You were out for twice as long this time..." Kelvena said answering James question before it was asked.

"...Where is that fork that we crossed...?" James said once again trying to clear his mind.

"Which one? The first one we crossed...?" Kelvena said confused.

"Yes...something tells me there's something I gotta see fer myself over there." James said anxiosly.

"Its a very long way behind us...I dont think you should go back there it's a-" Kelvena started but was soon interupted by James leaping off of Kanes shoulder.

"I'm truly sorry ma'am but this is somethin' I gotta do myself!" James said and began running off in the opposite direction.

"James! get back here!" Kelvena said as she started running towards him, but was soon stopped by Xaniir.

"Let him go...he is not a Terran man young one, he must discover his own origins." Xaniir intelligently said.

Kane let a small smile cross his face then motioned for the others to continue. The long journey finally ended as they came upon a primitive town underneath the surface of the planet.
