Lifetime Rating for Lusted_Marine: 5.0000 |  | I am sick and I was bored of watching TV and eating Chicken Noodle Soup. It was time for some Starcraft.
I started up a 1on1 temple ladder game. Someone soon joined and we were off. Both of us chose random. I ended up being toss at 6 o clock, while he was terran at 12 o clock.
I started with the usual toss build up, pylon, gateway, gateway, pylon. I didn't know he was Terran at the time, so I was playing it safe. Once I found out he was Terran, I decided to do a DT rush. I am not very good at DT rushes, so bare with me if I did it wrong. One thing that struck me, when I scouted earlier I found out he was terran, i scouted again later and saw he had tons of marines, and one medic. I knew he had academy then, so I wasn't sure my Dt's would work with comsat.
Once I had my 2 pylons and 2 gateways... i made 3 zealots then got a core, then made 2 goons, then adun then archives. I pumped out two DT's, when disaster struck. He sent around 12 marines, 6 bats, and 4 medic towards me. Since i only had 3 zeals and 2 goons, i was in a bad spot. Then I hear the "Adun whatever the DT says.. and I was saved. He didn't build a comsat when he got his academy, and therefore couldn't do anything to my DT's. I followed him all the way back to his base, picking off around 12 marines in the process... he was going all out marines/medics/bats cause he had 4, yes 4 barrax, and two engineering bays. So, he promtly put up some turrets and my DT's where pretty much useless.
Ok, I settle back and look at what he's doing... all out marines/medics/bats, what should a toss player do? Reavers!
Reavers absolutely KILL infantry. So, I make two reavers and pump out the goons and zealots. I have a decent force of 6 zeals and 6 goons and two fully loaded reavers when he comes charging in. Three tanks and million marines. I fended this off pretty easily :) I thought I was all good, and I try and go towards his base, only to find out he had a bunker and 2 tanks left at home :( Bummer.. I couldn't go up the ramp to take out anything "good". I did manage to kill some stuff, but I lost more :(
Now I didn't take my reavers, I summoned up a shuttle, looking for a quick reaver drop. While I was at his base, though, I noticed he had a Starport and Science Facility, I knew he was getting some SV's, cause his Starport was glowing or whatever. But, he wasn't making SV's... I think that's what he wanted me to think, he was actually making wraiths... Stupid me forgot to build some photon cannons. He ended up killing some of my probes until my newly warped cannons scared the wraiths away. That hurt me pretty bad, BUT! I still had my two reavers and shuttle... I decided it was his turn to do some economy busting.
Excellent drop on my part. He lost ALL his SCV's, and I got his Refinery in the red until I was disposed of by two wraiths. Overall, I thought I was winning, I actually was at the point in time, but stupid me, (AGAIN) forgets to build some troops while I was dropping on him. I had no troops once those two reavers were destroyed. He came in with everything he had, and dented me REALLY bad. I was able to survive, though, and I got a quick expansion in bottom right island.
But, that attack crippled me pretty badly. I never got back on my feet from that moment on. He came in with more marines/tanks/medics and ripped me apart. He finally did get some SV's and EMPed me some, I suddenly saw my 0-0-0 ladder record as a 0-1-0... :( I offered a "gg" and he responded with a "gg", too. It was a hard fought battle, but, in the end, he won. I did do several things wrong, but I can only think of one, I didn't make enough troops. If I had continued to make troops after the Reaver Drop, I would have been able to overwhelm him because I screwed over his economy, but I had to wait for my troops and he was able to get back on his feet.
